Dragon Quest: Builders |OT| - "If you build it, they will come."

In ch.2, does anyone know where I can get a confusing claw? Need it for a sidequest.
You can get those from the red Scarewolves you find near where that quest is given.
Thank you

How can I dig a channel of water to my town? The town is above water level. Is there a way to make water go up in altitude?

Also, is there anything in the chapter that tells you how to build that garden? It would be weird for the game to have the garden as a challenge without leading the player to build it.
There isn't any way to raise water. If you want to access water, then you need to dig down.

And there is a description of the garden in chapter 1. Near the end, Magnus muses that it would be nice to have a garden like the Cantlin of old: a garden with a pond and a couple of trees. There are a few notable examples in chapters 1, 2, and 3 where NPCs give direct clues to hidden room types in normal, non-quest conservation. They don't give you a blueprint, but you can create new rooms based on their advice. Magnus's description of the Cantlin garden is just the earliest example of that phenomenon.
Yeah got it working now... musta glitched out. Started working when I saved and reloaded.
I can't be sure if this was the specific cause of your issue, but you can't use minecarts if you have allies following you around. You need to ditch them first before using a minecart.

Chapter 3 is a big step up in difficulty. So much so I'm wondering if I've done something wrong and missed some materials to make stronger equipment. Even taking the NPC's with me I'm still dieing loads. I just got to the snowy area and the enemies there are wrecking me, over and over again.

How is this game? And does it allow for the creation of vast structures like in Minecraft?

Sky ceiling along with how far under you can dig is a lot smaller than minecrafts. But you can build massive structures in Free Mode which is unlocked after beating the first chapter. (Recipe unlocks from single player become usable in free mode.

Story mode you can also, though the actual objective of building a town comes with set area where you can build that is considered an actual town that the story NPCs will arrive to and begin to populate.

Chapter3 is definitely harder in combat, but with your bros it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Make sure to figure out the patterns for mobs, most of them are super simple(generally hit once > charged move, repeat), and move away before any aoe/charged attack stuff. Let the NPCs tank for you basically. You do get stronger equipement eventually but it's kinda near the end. You'll know when because you have to make new stuff for the story anyway with the same materials. Most of the chapter is spent using iron/steel stuff iirc so if that's what you have that's about it.

Question about the very end of chapter 4:

In the Dragonlord's throne room for phase one of the boss, there are two locked doors that need the ultimate key to unlock. Is there a way to get more keystones to craft the keys?

So this game will probably end up in the Top 3 of the year for me. Just absolutely love it. Ch2 is the low point but Ch3 andf Ch4 are both utterly brilliant, the characters, the setting, the story.

I'm doing the "speedrun" challenges now and if you're worried, they're really not hard. I've even done some sidequests and base building and I finished Ch1 in 9 days (goal 20) and Ch2 in 21 days (goal 30). They seem to unlock pretty neat stuff for Terra Incognita too.

I have no idea how to get that fast. Is it cause its your second run and you just know what you'll need to mine earlier? I'm trying the speedruns on my first try of the chapter and did the first two. Haven't started chapter 3 yet. Probably will this weekend. But I cut it very close for my speedruns so far. Maybe if I saved them for the second run then it would be easier.

Definitely because I knew what to do. Just do zero exploring, collect the things you know you'll need in the future and do the quests. Never sleep, just keep working all day and night. It's much easier than it sounds at first.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

I did:
Chapter 1 - 10 days (goal 20)
Chapter 2 - 15 days (goal 30)
Chapter 3 - 16 days (goal 30)
Chapter 4 - 14 days (goal 30)

Only 3 and the start of 4 were a bit difficult. 4 requires you to
farm from scratch since there is no Banner of Hope and dumps you into farming and into killing enemies who are much stronger than you so sudden.

Ch2 was weird since it requires you to wait for the patients' recovery. I guess I could have planned ahead, but I went to sleep 3-4 times to speed it up. Also searched the whole map because I forgot where the critical ring was :D 15 seems very fast!

Alright. Thanks. I might save my speedruns for the second one then

Is there any way to trash items or drop them? Right now I'm just leaving things I don't want in a chest out in the wild.

I think the large chest had a command for actually destroying stuff. Outside of that dont think you can do it while its on your character.

is there a way to easily place water or do you have to literally dig all the way from a water source to the location where you want it.

Eh, better than nothing, I guess. Thanks!

Another question; do monsters attack your town in Terra? I'm building my town within that share zone (I figure it's best to limit myself or things might go crazy), but haven't really seen any monsters attacking. Oh, and obsidian is the best wall, right? Also, my first villager was this golem. If monsters do attack, he's not gonna wreck my town defending it, is he? That would be some ironic shit.

Edit: Ah damn, just found out I could only dig 3 blocks down. I want to create a basement 3 blocks high, so I'll have to create a layer on top of that.

How comparible would you say it is to Actraiser's city building levels? Is it as versatile as that?

Nope. Then again Actraiser's city building is closer to a true simulator than DQBuilders. DQbuilders is more like a cross between the free build of Minecraft and the village building scale of the Dark Cloud games, but sequenced to a much smaller space in the Campaign.

Ah it was those blocks with the dark spots, had never noticed them lol.

My base looks rubbish compared to others I've seen :(

Yes those are the ones. I see no point in making it look nice since you lose everything once you finished the Chapter.

I don't have a creative bone in my body. I just bulldozed all the old buildings and made it look like a cell block.

Is there free build mode?

In chapter 2 and have some questions:
-Where do I get water to heal the sick patients?
-What do I do about the 'evolution' puzzle... where can I find a little tree or shrub or whatever?
-Where to find orange flowers needed for the item requested by the wolves?

There is going to be a water room in your camp. And eventually something that enhances it and gives you better water.

The evolution puzzle is a seedling. Chop down a tree and it will leave a stump. Chop that stump and you get a seedling to plant.

I can't remember the orange flowers. I feel like the bulb you plant to make the flower is a monster drop but IDK which monster unfortunately. The wolf quest I think I happened to have two bulbs on me.

I don't remember for any of these. I'd say check this link, maybe it has something for you.

Question: what is the best source of food in the final chapter? Ever since the old man stopped feeding me for free, I have been starving. I found some mushrooms here and there, but surely that cannot be it, right?

You can fish up frogs from the ponds inside the castle. You can cook those without needing other ingredients.

I think you need a bucket for water. The recipe for it comes up in a quest, iirc, so I'd advance the other quests you currently have.

You get a tree seedling by hammering a tree stump.

Can't seem to remember the last thing, sorry.

Man, I didn't think there was much of a difficulty jump between ch.2 and ch.3, until I ran into those
little fire assholes
. Even then, they're more of a nuisance, but they won't leave me alone.

Got to spend about three hours playing this today and I know that i'm coming to the end of the Cantlin chapter but before I finish it I just want to be 100% sure pop things before I continue.

  1. When I finish this chapter so I save as normal so that I can go back and do all the challenges when I want to?
  2. Is there a way to find out all the challenges by playing the game or do I just look online when I decide that I want to 100% the game?
  3. Is there anything else that I need to know before completing this chapter?

Bonus question!!!
How the hell am I ever going to complete this, World of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy XV?

The game allows you 5 saves for each chapter and keeps them all separate. Once you complete a chapter, you're free to reload any save you want from the main menu.

Once you complete a chapter, it'll go through a checklist of the challenges you did or didn't complete. You could just reload your last save after seeing the list and go from there.

I loaded up my Cantlin chapter save, finished a couple of the challenges, then saved and backed out to the menu but it still shows them as incomplete. What's the trigger to set them as done? I can't replay the boss, can I?

You have to step into the light to end the chapter again.

Does anyone know where I can get some newt in chapter 4? Google isn't turning up anything. I really want that Hell Broth.

Apparently this drops it.

Same, but I got Dragon Quest VII in the mix as well.

Been a long time since I've been this happy with my gaming offerings.
