Dragon Quest: Builders |OT| - "If you build it, they will come."

Running around chapter 4 trying to figure out what to do next. I need to get the banner, but need to find out how to get better weapons first. This stick isn't cutting it.

Edit: Ah it was in the rundown castle the whole time. Completely missed it when I went there.

Picked up the game after playing the demo and so far it's really relaxing and enjoyable, but holy damn am I sick of hearing the same 60 seconds of JRPG music loop over and over.

Honestly I'm not sure what to think about recipes in Free mode. In one hand I understand they locked some stuff, considering each chapter introduces new recipes, as a form to make playing a new chapter a more fresh experience (sort of not spoilering it if you want to call it like that).

In other hand it's true that this render Free mode half useless until you clear the story mode. I say half because you can still do stuff, but I don't know if I build everything, I'l need to redo a big chunk because a new interesting recipe will be introduced.

I still did some stuff in Free mode myself, got some NPCs and put them to work, explored the first island and got some materials, and made the basics off my town (with dirt) to have an idea on what I want to do before going serious when I unlock more stuff.

One thing I wholly agree is that locking recipes in challenge stuff for free mode is a bad idea. I can understand locking for story mode, but not free mode. Luckily almost all challenges are easy, but the timed ones sucks and I'll never do them. I just don't like playing a game like this as a time attack. A good alternative is put those challenge recipes in the coloseum (unless it's already this way).

The worst challenge in the game is beating the time challenge. I hope they're not too strict otherwise it's gonna be really annoying to rush them to try to beat the time challenges.

They are fairly easy if you ban yourself from sleeping, also jump then R1 + attack vastly speeds up combat and ground item gathering

Lowering the music volume does help. Its beautiful music ,but it can be grating.

The by FAR biggest complain I have about the game is the general lack of building multiples at once, but in particular the oversight of having to craft wood ONE FOR ONE. I mean, why even bother having that step then? Why not simply drop 'wood'? Why not AT LEAST make 5 Lumber = 5 Wood or something? It's incredible tedious. It's mind boggling how that wasn't brought up during testing.

Yeah. The all or nothing approach is dumb.

Waiting for my vita physical before jumping in, life is hell. Play-Asia delays :(((

I bought the PS4 physical (and had it for review before that) and wish I could cross save. Play Asia delayed my vita physical to first week of Nov as well. :(

Seriously. Its either one or use everything and make as many. Why nojt just let me choose? this and the stutter issue are my main complaints with an otherwise superb game.

Is there a way to make medicinal shrubs appear in the world somehow? I need three for the ultimate baths but there aren't any more because I've cut them all down.

Also, what's up with the friendly yeti and his snowman?

Wait, so this doesn't have cross save at all? Wow bummer, I was considering to double dip with a PS4 copy... Oh well, your loss SE.

I just played Chapter 3 for 7 hours straight? I literally have no idea where the time went, it felt like 3 hours. At least my town rules. GOTY, baby.

Just restarted chapter 1 to get the speedrun challenge and it showed off this poison swamp area with ents?? Where the hell is that? Never saw it the first time around.

On the first island where you start. You need to cross the mountains to the south of your base. Same area where the dragon is.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything to do with the friendly yeti and his snowman in chapter 3, and if it is possible to get some more medicinal shrub after I cut them all down? Thank you.

Finished Chapter 4 last night. Definitely in my top 5 games of this year.

I remember picking the join the Dragonlord option in Dragon Warrior 1 the first time I beat it, so this game really resonates with me.

Huh, that's really weird.
Unique enemies (for the chapter at least), but no quest sends you down that way, and it was shown off as one of three places during the Chapter One "title" screen. Odd.

up to the end battle of chapter 1, I think I need to grind for some more of the bombs and those superior town shields...

i feel like ch. 1 took a lot longer than it should have. really enjoying the game but hoping for a little more depth in chapter 2. the loop is wearing thin on me a bit, and i know not big deals but there a lot of gameplay tweaks that just irk me enough for it to be frustrating.

The final boss for chapter 1 is a joke. I beat him with like 10 bombs and one Cantlin shield lol
oh ... in that case i'm ready hhaha

Finalyl started the game this weekend. Pretty fun. Someone gave me a heads up about the time challenge (which I hate) but have been doing them anyways. Seems like a really off challenge to have in this kind of game. I barely made it in time for the first chapter. Had accidental sleep. Same accidental sleep in chapter 2 but I got that with 2 days to spare.

The boss battle feel a little annoying so far. Especially the boss of chapter 2.

Do you know where the dragon is? You can actually see the start of where the swamp would be from his area if I recall correctly. Its not too far away from where you find Rollo. Considering the monsters attack from the west then it should be the far south east direction from your camp.

Yeah, I played the demo and had to order it. Got the Day One Edition from Amazon UK since it's so cheap (like the same price of the vita version WITH mailing included), only downside is having to wait!

Hahaha my friend made a super version of cantlin. We're talking towers and sky houses. TUnnels.

His heartbreak at the golem was palpitable

Anyone can help?

I went to the castle in Chapter 1 before getting the quest for the plan. Now the dead king is gone, the chest on the roof is empty but I don't seem to have the plan in my inventory.

Must I restart?

Completed the story mode, it was pretty good.
The maps of chapter 4 were the least interesting despite a great setting and the middle part of the chapter was kind of a slog, but the final fight was really great (despite, like every boss fight, getting too easy real quick).

Yeah the golem is the worse potential town destroyer if you build anything above ground level. Seeing him jumping right through the middle above the flag and obliterating everything in his path was heartbreaking for me too. I had to redo the fight 3 times to keep the damage to a minimum and even then I didn't have the motivation to rebuild. When I restarted chapter 1 for the speedrun challenge he didn't even break a single block as the town was on ground level only, revenge was sweet.

1. Yeti, just a bro as far as I can tell.
2. Good luck, I've not been able to find enough.

From what I've read about that chapter, its limited so you need to know beforehand to save some shrubs.

Anyone have any ideas on how to build great city layouts? This is my first go at a mine craft type of game but I'm architecturally challenged.

I've basically had no healing items throughout all of Chapter 3. I feel like the combat definitely gains something when there is actually a threat of dying in the field.

Try putting residences and kitchen rooms on one side of the base, and production rooms on the other. Also, try making some rooms on top of others.

Keep your storage rooms away from the outskirts of your city in the event if a monster manages to break through the walls. You dont want to have to clean up contents of a broken chest or the massive chest.

Just finished the game enjoyed it alot.

Only gripe with me is there was the ghosts being to intrusive. Dont think they should hassle you inside your own town let alone in the numbers they arrive in. Also a bit heavy on the combat in general.

Will recomend to buy it if you are on the fence its one of the quiet gems of the year.

Alot of hours game play for your money with this one.

Would anyone be able to instruct me on how to obtain the bashmobile in Terra Incognita?

I did everything in the main game, and now I want to have fun in the free mode.

Also, is there a list of the monster residents anywhere?

Almost done with Chapter 3... I'm making great time, trying to hit the <30 days on my first try. Just finished the
Lyre of Ire
, my base is Level 5, and I'm only on 18 days.

Feeling like I'm going to spend a while on this chapter when I beat it, there are a lot of buildings my people are talking about making that I don't have time for.

kill the ice hand in the chapter 3 portal. Explore and mine to get all you're needed materials.

Quick question: if I build a room (or expand a current one) outside the Cantlin boundaries (when it changes from the town theme to the overworld theme), do I still get points that add to my town's level?

I have to build a couple of new rooms, but I'm out of the initial space the town has given me. Anything I build beyond it, even when linking walls together, brings out the overworld music, which is telling me that I'm building beyond the boundaries, thus making me wonder if it no longer counts towards my exp points.

Pretty sure it won't count, and trust me, don't build outside the boundaries.

Potentially dumb question, but how do you access the day-one bonus DLC stuff (gold block, slimy block etc.)? I unlocked the free build mode and was under the impression those recipes would at least show up there if not in story mode, but I don't see them anywhere.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
The worst challenge in the game is beating the time challenge. I hope they're not too strict otherwise it's gonna be really annoying to rush them to try to beat the time challenges.

Don't worry, it's not as hard as you think. You can beat the chapter half the required time to do the speed run i.e. you need to finish the Cantlin chapter in 20 days, you can do it in 10 with a few pre-preparations and ignoring the design of your town. Same goes with Rimuldar. Kol might take a bit longer but you'll have 8-10 days to spare still.

Heck I was taking my time a bit.
