Generation 50 of the Ur-Dragon is at about 1 2/3 health right now.
WTF... I checked and it was as you said, closer to 1 1/2 in my world. Then I battled it for a bit, despite being level 200 goldforged lv.3 BBI and buffed x4 I wasn't doing any visible damage because of course it's the Ur-Dragon, whatever. I come back just to see if any progress had been made and it was down to 1 1/3rd, cool. I battle it again, come back... and it's at like 1 4/5th now.

Why I even bother trying, I'll never know...

I just fought one that was down to it's very last bar of health (and at 55% or so). Grace isn't far away.

Checked again and it's 1 1/8th now.

Go figure.

Edit: What are you supposed to do when it perches itself, anyway? I just keep spamming with magick projectile but it doesn't seem like they always reach.

I drop them where the story missions take me so that when I replay it doesn't take me long to get around. You can actually place a total of 10 port crystals.

I have mine placed at:

Windbluff Tower
Shadow Fort
Greatwall Encampment
Manamia Trail - right next to the port crystal where you meet Mercedes to take the Hydra head to Gran Soren.
Hillfigure Knoll

These were just for convenience:

Bluemoon Tower
The Healing Spring just to the NW of the Blighted Manse (a lot of escorts want to go there)
Devilfire Grove next to the camp
Next to Catacombs main entrance
The Abbey

Where in the Shadowfort? It is a big place. Not sure why we would want one here either!

Once I removed my Daggerist ring off my pawn, she uses Tenfold Flurry way more frequently. Well, Master rings will do then.

Yeah, pawns prioritise higher level skills. That's why my Ranger pawn only has Hundred Kisses, Tenfold and Great Gamble. She loves using Great Gamble and one hit killing things. Then she'll use Mushroom Potages and recover Stamina for everyone. She also automatically uses Blast Arrows when required. I love using Ranger pawns but finding ones with just the right abilities and inclinations is very hard.

What inclinations do you have, and what level is your pawn?

Those who are running Rudy ENB, are ya'll using the regular or performance versions?

Which settings should I turn off to keep it at 60 fps?

I'm using the full version, with Noise and Depth of Field turned off. With a 980 and at 1080p, it does dip below 60 when in open areas. But everywhere else is 60 and above.

I haven't tried using the performance version, but just the fact it turns off high quality rendering that'll make banding appear at night makes me not want to try it.

Where to find it or where I placed it?

You can find in in the cell straight across from where you enter when you look for the lever to let the soldiers in.

You can't place the crystal directly inside it. You have to place it in the Devilfire grove just outside the entrance.

As for why... well it's convenience. When you want to speed through the quests, you want to do the minimal stuff. For instance, you only need to complete two wyrm hunt quests for the duke. The cypher is the quickest (just teleport to the hilfigure knoll and talk to the dragonforged - you don't need to do anything else). The shadow fort quest (fortress besieged) is the second quickest (just kill some monsters and find the lever). Plus, I like to run from the Shadow Fort Crystal and go through Devilfire Grove killing all in my path (the Drake included once you are strong enough) for good experience and DP. Plus, you can stop at the rest area in Devilfire Grove as needed.

Enter chamber of lament. Get 1 bar left. Fight.
Leave. Return. Almost 2 bars.
Leave without fighting. Return.
Grace period.

lol Capcom

So uh yeah just killed gen 50 during grace, if anyone's interested...

Felt so weird to spend an hour/hour 1/2 chipping away while it's health kept fluctuating only to kill it in one hit during grace.
I know right?

When I was fighting it when it had 1 bar left, I actually saw like one dot and an invisible sliver, and at some point I saw the dot disappear and the health bar drop to 1 bar. First time I actually noticed the damage and felt all proud lol.

Then I came back and it was back to almost 2 bars. I left the chamber and re-entered and bam grace. SMH xD

How long does grace typically last? Weren't they over in like 10 min before?

I think it varies, but I think it's usually something like 10 - 15 minutes. This was actually my first time killing the online Ur-Dragon (I've killed the offline version a bunch of times).

Hmm, not seeing gen 51 yet. Do I need to rest or something to trigger it?

Edit: nope, didn't change anything. Weird. Grace got longer than before, or this is unusual.

Welp, that marks the first time I've killed the online Ur-Dragon. Only needed to fire a single arrow, imagine that.

So many weapons ...

Well, killed Ur-Dragon some time ago. I guess this is a normal grace period now?

What inclinations do you have, and what level is your pawn?
Utilitarian and Challenger. I would use Great Gamble, but my pawn's total stamina pool is 3.1k :(
Max level with GDF Oblivion Set. I just started using a rusted longbow. Damage is weak, but the torpor is sick. I'll ocassionally switched to my Revenant Wail.

Anyone got any extra Fae-Silver Plates? Need to upgrade some gear.

Steam: earvcunanan

Thanks

Will rent your Pawn for RC in return.
I can hook you up. What level is your pawn, its name and vocation? My friend's list is the same 22 people and its kinda hard to manually search for friends.

Perfect inclinations. I'll use your pawn if you stick with Revenant Wail (at least when you upload your data to the Rift). What's your pawn name? Hopefully I find it after searching for level 200 Ranger pawns.

It's Dirge.

Wow, Ur-Dragon is super squishy. Took off 2 bars without periapts and exceeded the damage limit. It won't be long before another Grace period happens.

Been having a great time playing, Level 40 Fighter with my mage Ruby, she's been getting pretty consistent use throughout the levels so I guess that's good. Going for a simple build of switching to warrior when I level and then from 100 onwards I'll just level as fighter, simple straightforward character. Ruby I have switching between Mage, Sorcerer and something else for a bit of tankiness building.

Our relevant vocations are basically maxed thanks to the rings from the island.

I really enjoy the leveling system, however some things don't make sense to me, when I switched to sorcerer I figured I'd just be a stronger mage, but you lose out on healing and all that and even if you're a class where you can keep the staff, you still don't have healing.

So all of that seems incrediby contrived despite knowing it's for balance, but oh well.

This game is pretty much everything Skyrim should have been, I think really the only thing Skyrim has over DD is the true open world and freedom of proper interactivity with everything and few other things unique to TES that I wish all RPGs had, and those things would be great for DD, but Dragon's Dogma is just infinitely more interesting across the board and it's just a real good time.

Somewhere between Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma and Elder Scrolls is the best RPG of a decade.

51 in grace.

That feeling when you decide to dragonforge some stuff while you're at it, and equip a shield, but the last heart is at the tip of the wing... :(

Oh well don't care that much about the Dread Aspis, could always just kill a curse dragon if I did.

Went in as a warrior with Dwells-In-Light. It gave me another Dwells-In-Light and Angel's Fist. Might as well dragonforge the Angel's Fist next time.

So I looked up a speedrun of Dragon's Dogma and found out that in NG+ you can beat the game in less than an hour with optimal gear and preparation. I'm amazed the game is programmed to go through event flags and story beats without a hitch with all that ferrystone warping and whatnot.

Someone posted a cool speedrun recently, under 15 minutes in-game, but it looks tool assisted to me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKrTu9CQbXA

That's the excatly same macro people used 3 years back on console. That loop where you instant reset and do it again just before the daggers attack at the end of the burst to maintain optimal speed also the autofire is obvious through menus. But it's still a cool run though.

Was just going around Gransys fighting random monsters (Drakes, GoreChimera, etc.) while not taking any action myself. Just letting the pawns do all the work. Feels really good when your pawns collaborate and successfully take down enemies.

Did you search for pawns at lvl 199?

I didn't. Aren't you max level tho? I'll try 199 tomorrow.

My pawn and I are level 200. Its just that to search for player's pawns, you gotta search at level 199. Level 200 are offline pawns which are usually much weaker with assorted gear. Its always been like that even on consoles. You'll never find another player's pawn while searching at level 200.

Wow, Ur-Dragon was on 52 and was already in grace when I just entered. Felt nice to kill it in one hit. I had just finally replaced that stupid princess outfit with new gear (mostly the abyssal stuff) and everything got dragonforged too.

... Is that why no one hires my pawn anymore?

She used to be so popular!

So my pawn just maxed on the Sorcerer (already maxed Mage). Is it worth putting her to the other vocations or just stay as a Sorcy? I actually just maxed Stryder and Magic Archer. I was thinking of trying Ranger and Assassin also.... Not sure what to do

Ranger has a couple of augments that are good for Magic Archers, so there's that.

The hell? That's so dumb.

HK-47

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Finally beat the game after doing nearly everything I wanted to do in Bitterblack (I was sick of weapon farming so the Dominion Claw will have to wait). The ending was more interesting than I expected. Kinda a shame the game bookend with such cool ideas and is just blah for everything in between. Sad we probably wont get a real sequel.

A+ soundtrack.

I'm running a 970/i5-4590.

You're using the in game DOF?

Any other settings that I could turn down for even better performance?

Ingame DOF is off as well. I don't like it. I don't know what else will give you more performance, since even a 980 can't get 60 in all areas. Try the performance version and see if the night banding bothers you or not?

Guess I'll have to settle on a slight frame drops. Thanks for the help.

130 some hours in the game and level 178 and my pawn still finds new ways to be an idiot. I was stuck in a fierce battle with a pack of garm when for no reason my pawn decided she wanted to open a random chest (she's never done this before and I know she is Utilitarian/Challenger/Mitigator). The chest had a maneater and because of the garms, I had no way of helping her as she was eaten.
