Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
I somehow missed this quest, as well as the Blighted Manse (which annoys me greatly) but that happens throughout the game and even in post-game. In one scene the duke
sends his guards after you and you have to flee the city... and then you just walk in and everyone acts like it never happened.
I was just like wtf 0_o

Also, I found some creepy dude in a dark corner by the western gate up against the wall. His name is Walter or something. I think he's been there the whole game but I never found him till now

It's so weird. I find myself saying that about every cutscene, they just pan shots to you staring blankly at people constantly.

Because they're cowards. I hate it when they do that.

I've only actually killed one, the rest flew away. One has a giant explosive arrow waiting to be hit through his chest.

I fought a Griffin right outside of Gran Soren and it never tried taking flight for some reason once it came down, not sure what my pawns did to it

Yeah, games like this would be much more interesting if they kept a battlelog. Then when I sat my pawns down in the chair I could bring up how while I was kicking an ogre's ass they were picking flowers.

I'm going to be so heart broken if cacpom abandons the dragon's dogma IP if it doesn't sell well. The thought of a next-gen DD makes me drool.

So, how do I get my mage pawn to learn a specific skill? The previous one spammed some fire spell that lit my arrows on fire. I miss him.

I just looked at the map in the OP and holy shit... I'm 12 hours in and have just explored the areas around Cassardis, a bit of the area surrounding Gran Soren, and a little bit of the Witchwood. It doesn't even look like I've seen 10% of the game world.

Are there any other large towns or settlements at least as big as Cassardis?

If you're talking about pawns that you hire, then you can't change their skills. Those are set by the owners, which is why it's important to go through the pawns until you find one that has the right skills to suit you and your party.

Lord, this game totally sucked me in this weekend, to the chagrin of my wife and six month old daughter.

Managed to take down a Chimera and like 10 Saurians simultaneously. Almost bit it a number of times, but somehow pulled through. Totally addictive.

This pretty much comprised the entirety of my weekend, as well. I'm in post-game now, and not really sure how to unlock the various doors (sometimes I can get through and fight a boss, sometimes I can't) so I'm kind of spinning my wheels at the moment.

I did find some bad ass armor for my main character - it's an armor piece for females and it has these long, billowing sleeves that flap around whenever her arms move. They look really cool and have some wicked physical/magic resistance.

Game has slowed down a bit for me, it pretty much slowed down since I went through the pawn guild mission, and did an escort quest exploring around, stuff were dying pretty easy since then, and the dungeons weren't very unique, though the story stuff seems more interesting now after going through the wyrm hunts so hopefully it picks up again

some people don't know how to equip skills on their pawns. i saw some really good looking lvl25 pawn, but when i browsed her skills, she had only one equipped.....

I saw a Pawn mage, primary skills looked great, exactly what I needed. Checked secondary skills, and none were equipped. No healing, or status removal ability.

Ah well, ended up finding a Pawn better suited for my team.

I love it when the pawns interrupt themselves a few times in succession.

ps
Rent my lv49 Sorcerer :( I'm tired of these fake messages.

This happens all the time when I leave Gran Soren. They have 4-5 different things and interrupt themselves to say them all when I sprint off. They also say stuff like "goblin ambush ahead" when I actually came through a path that cleared the ambush before they said that.

I killed a Golem, then walked by the area where I was and the pawns comment how the rocks look odd.

People have been using mine fairly steadily. I'm not getting massive amounts of points, but I'm up over 400k now and have pretty much nothing to spend them on. Thinking about making my dude's skin blue or something, but he's back to being a fighter in the Chimera set so only his face is visible anyway.

For some reason blue skin always reminds me of this:

Just bought this POS for 360 (probably a mistake since I have a ps3) and I'm waiting for the install :)

My goal: Make my character Griffith and try to make my pawns into the band of the hawk....That's as far as I thought it through.

I just had to ferrystone out of a crazy random battle.
2 gorechimeras, a wight, and a pack of hellhounds all in a small chamber. NOPE. That was a nightmare for my little Sorcerer heart.

Also, the Arisen is the most awkward silent protagonist I've ever seen.
Bahahaha

Anyone know if you could have left through the door & let the
King kill her?
I was kinda wondering if I was able to just stand there for awhile and let it pass. But that seemed reallllly fucked up, haha.
The cutscene will still happen, unfortunately. I tried to leave.

Another blog update + some thoughts on the game.

MAJOR SPOILERS

http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tnl/entries/524-Dragon-s-Logma-Volume-7
I just wanted to say that I love reading these.
The way the game is so nonchalant about pairing off the Arisen with a high affinity NPC is really bizarre, but in a good way. There are already threads of people sharing how borked their games were, like ending up paired with Fournival. It seems more like another quirk to hate/love than a rookie mistake. God, this game is weird.

I've only played a few hours so far, but I'm enjoying it.

I will say the title theme was not what I was expecting, but it kind of kicks ass.

I think it caught all of us off guard. When I first saw people talking about it here I started up the game after work that day and let the song play through a few times and was like "Hmm, that doesn't fit, but I kind of like it."

And now I'm listening to it like all the time... in fact... I'm listening to it right n-

What is a Dangan?

edit: All I've found is from this:
The Western-inspired and Western-financed Chinese revolution, following hard on the heels of the last desperate attempt by China to prevent the British government traffic in narcotic drugs there, placed that ancient province in a favorable state of anarchy for laboratory tests of mind-alteration technology. Out of this period rose a Chinese universal tracking procedure called "The Dangan," a continuous lifelong personnel file exposing every student’s intimate life history from birth through school and onwards. The Dangan constituted the ultimate overthrow of privacy. Today, nobody works in China without a Dangan.
What.

I keep playing and keep getting more disappointed. It's so great in some ways and so dumb in others. I will definitely finish this, even though it's a chore at times. Glad the rest of you seem to be loving it.

Post game is so awesome, it's like you're learning the game all over again.

Anyone know what ledge is for the Chamber of Distress?

I think Ranger is the best class. I mean, the only melee move I care for is Thousand Kiss and with Tenfold Flurry you're unstoppable.

well, when my mage/sorcerer pawn was doing time as a warrior just to build up hp, i didn't bother learning any skills (just a couple augments). so i'm thinking it's not always not knowing how to equip skills in some cases - people might be saving up dp for skills in other jobs...

It's a Bronze Sallet and it can be purchased at the abandoned mine in the Ancient Quarry.

yes, go into the menu and to history. there are a bunch of stats! also, in the menu [] (square on ps3, i assume X on 360) brings up a chronicle.

easy kill is really nice! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQXDHLqEwOk

i actually solved the mystery about my innkeeper. he sits in cassardis in my house. because i raised his affinity. damnit! in NG+ this will not happen again :lol

Thanks for the heads up, new game plus is where i've changed up a few things, first time through i was unknowingly close to having the traveling salesman be at my house, didn't get that the pink glow was "love", but at the last selene quest i got her up slightly past the dudes, saving me from a male roommate..
