I got so much equipment in my storage - I think I'll gift some of it to any PSN GAF'ers. Got lots of Ur-Dragon loot and other stuff I picked up post-game at Everfall. I'll post a list of what I got to give out for free a little later today. I know I have a couple of Dwells-in-Light Longswords, Heaven's Key Daggers and Ascalon Swords. I've got an extra set of Abyssinal armor that's Dragon Forged as well.
Ok guys, i have questions about NG+ and vocations:
1) Is the vocation's rank kept when we get to NG+? (so if i have a fighter maxed out, will it be maxed out in NG+ too?)
2) At the beginning of NG+, when we have to choose our vocation (just after awaking in Cassardis), can we choose advanced and hybrid vocations directly, unlocken or not? (it goes with the first question, i think)
3) I would have love to go with only one vocation by game (and so engaging in another only at a NG+ then ++... etc), is it a good idea and feasible? I find that for the replayability, i would get i pretty different gameplay per game (this game finest point isn't that one vocation = one gameplay), furthermore it would make NG+ harder given that IIRC mobs don't seem to be boosted in NG+.
you can totally do that. in my first playthrough i specialized in bow-classes with a mage/sorcerer pawn, in NG+ i started as a mage and made the pawn a fighter.
i don't know if i keep on that, i surely will use strider or magic archer for some annoying things (like getting to bluemoontower). but first my plan is to do as much as possible in cassardis. in the first playthrough i barely did any quests there... so it's a good training with the mage, cause i feel like i havent played 100h at all... plays so different than a bow-class...

Ok thanks for the quick answer. I think i will max out a vocation by game, like i said... i'm not scared about game time, it's already my 2012's GOTY (and i have one game by race in SKYRIM whereas gameplay is almost the same ).
BTW, my pawn is a girl fighter named Falszyon. Approximately level27 and a good very-agressive tank. I'm Alej on PSN if someone wants to recruit her easily.
i put skyrim away after 30h ... my ps3 went ylod and i lost 6 hours of storyquests. so i did some sidequests and lost my interest. dragon's dogma is the first game in years i enjoyed playing and it was hard to not play it... can't remember when i put 100h in a videogame in a week... i think it was monster hunter it on PS2 7 years ago....

Skyrim can be seen as a bad game because it's a 1st person game... combat has to be bland in 1st person, and i can't count guys that take 3rd person camera when they are exploring whereas 1st person is SUPPOSED to be there for immersion. The fact is, most gamers play combat in 1st for gameplay reason, because it's gimped in 3rd. I'm always playing in 3rd person because of the immersion, ironically.
This gen was supposed to be all about FPS and yes it is when you only look at COD... but in fact, if you open your eyes, this gen is all about the renewal of 3rd person games, don't want to make a list btw, it's pretty evident.
so unbanned after a 2-3 weeks. been hankering to post
BUT THIS IS SERIOUSLY THE BEST GAME I'VE PLAYED IN AGES!!
so damn addictive and fun. I'm level 44 now? And its:
a) addictive as fuck
b) fun
c) gorgeous for an open worldish title
d) grossly underrated by the gaming press
fighting hordes of monsters and fighting at night and fighting them ambush fights against the big monsters is just amazing. Its got minor quirks (like the weirdo health/healing system?!!?) but mostly; I love this.

I think this is the most SaGa-ish game in a long while, quests are hidden away from normal play, quests have some kind of timer, maybe story trigger; too bad about the overall look, but the french setting is a welcome change.
I almost want to restart the game and do the quests I missed.
"final battle" quest opened up for me recently. earlier than i though actually. it feels like i haven't finished enough sidequests. i'm sure there is a board somewhere i haven't found yet, lol.
Level 15 with me as a fighter and my pawn as a strider. Thinking of switching vocations. Want to keep my main toon as a heavy armor class, anyone have any suggestions between mystic knight and warrior? Leaning towards mystic knight but I dunno if I'm into the elemental shield counters. Same with my pawn, thinking either ranger or warrior for her but I dunno if jumping between vocations a lot is a good idea. Thanks.

But this is completely untrue, you can have very good combat in 1st person view, take a look at the new Dishonored trailer... but also Deus Ex or other games. The Dragon Dogma trick is put some brain inside those creatures, you can do that in all games you want
Do you get alerted before going down the point of no return to the last boss? I'm speaking to the Dukes helper dude and he's telling me the Duke has asked me to lead an expedition and that I'm going to be gone from Gran Soren for a long time. Is it okay to complete the mission while I still have side-quests I want to go back to before ending it?
Got into post-game in the wee hours of the morning and took this guy on. So, if I die and hit retry my damage before the death is still applied and I can just keep retrying and whittle away at his health until he's down? He had 5 bars of health left when I finally gave up and went to bed and had only got down to 4 when I checked him again this morning. The Ur-Dragon scene seems not as active on the 360. Also while I'm fighting him, other people's damage will be applied to him as well? So if I'm whittling away at his health and some beastly high level player starts fighting him too, his health could drastically start dropping while I'm fighting him even if I'm just running around frantically reviving my pawns and not actively attacking him?
Mystic Knight becomes a beast after getting his vocation 6+. Looking forward to playing Warrior and Assassin in new game+. Someone mentioned a solo Gutts playthrough earlier. That sounds kinda fun too.
Damn, I'm getting whooped in post-game and it's taking the fun out of the game for me. Packs of hellhounds are a giant pain in the ass, especially because they're always dodging backwards, making them a real bitch to hit.
I think I desperately need new gear. Everything they sell in Gran Soren is worse than what I have equipped
because it got dragon forged when I beat the dragon,
and I'm nowhere near affording the 800,000+ gold they're charging me in
the Everfall
for better stuff. I've even hired pawns ~6 levels higher than me, but they die pretty quickly anyway. I'd like to go get some easy gear from the Ur Dragon but I can't seem to find him.
Are the contents of the floors of the Everfall random? Or is there a certain floor I can shoot for to find the Ur Dragon?

ur-dragon is in the Chamber of Lament you can look at the map while falling, there you see what is flying by... chamber of lament is on the east side. its a orange glowing corridor.
underneath is chamber of Fate on the south-west side. there waits a drake or if you are unlucky a wight and two chimera afair.
chamber of distress seems to be one of the easier chambers, with a wyrm in the arena and direwolf/harpy before... or just run through the chambers, open chests and loot some wakestones to sell. it's actually pretty easy to get money in the everfall... in the beginning i got smashed by the evil eye, so i grinded other chambers (there is also one with skeleton mages, they don't really need much damage but give good XP... in the end, only saurian sages where a big problem for me
So I just got out of exploring a cave I stumbled upon out in the middle of nowhere, and was found an Ogre inside.
First impression when I saw my first Ogre, cool - he looks like an easy kill, after all I was geared for climbing and had no problems with cyclops.
Then one of my pawns in the group yells
"It gets excited when it sees women"
or something like that - not something you want to hear when your entire group is
female
. The Ogre apparently
frenzies at the sight of female characters and tries to target them
. The Ogre had some very surprising attacks
he did a WWE style drop kick on me
.
it's nighttime out - I decided to make the trek back to the capital city when I'm attacked in this sequence - all nonstop :
Wolves - They were just kind of annoying so I thought I'd keep moving while letting my group handle them.
then bandits jumped in, archers are hard to see in the night, and all the while packs of wolves are darting in and out of the darkness taking cheap shots at me.
then I hear a roar and a Chimera jumps me, while the wolves and bandits are still alive.
on top of that, some sort of undead knight thing that was heavily armored and took a ton of damage to kill. The knight had a lock on to my healer as well.
So my main pawn (Ranger) and I (Assassin)are hanging off the sides of the Chimera, healer was getting killed by the undead, and the tank pawn I had was busy with wolves. All of this was one huge clusterfuck, and I couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous it was.
Eventually, I hopped off, killed the wolves, then the bandits, then tried for the knight - while my main pawn who's apparently learned a lot of Chimera killing held her own for a while.

There's an option in the wisdom chair for your main pawn where you can tell them to go after the "most troublesome" targets first, and they specifically mention archers and mages. My pawn is a boss and always fucks them up first.
I guess I should ask about the very end of the game:
after I get all the wakestones, is there just a boss and then the ending? Or just the ending? And after the ending, do I have to do NG+, or can I continue on this game and choose to start NG+ later?

After you give her the Wakestones and you jump down the Everfall again you're beyond the point of no return and can only fight the boss and see the ending(s). After that your only option is to start NG+.

So is the warrior class awesome at all? Do I need to make a large character in order to use the huge swords effectively? And can I wear cool armor, because every warrior video I see the person looks like a weird Viking or barbarian with like animal pelts...

Having a larger character is more beneficial to warriors. There's also cool armor as the game progresses, but you don't start out with that obviously. My pawn is a warrior and currently has a cyclops helm and a mix of the griffon armor and some cool ass greaves with birds engraved on the knees.
Friend just bought the game and has reached Gran Soren, but I can't find his pawn in the rift. His gamertag does not appear when checking the 'friends list' search in the rift, unlike everyone else playing the game on my friends list.
My friend has told me he is using MY pawn in his game with no problems. What is going on?
Kind of wish I wasn't a magic knight when I beat the "boss". Sure, I got dragon forged gear, but shield and hammer, magic knight only, as well as special dragon gear (Shield and Hammer) that were Magic Knight only. If I had a regular sword or bow, I could use those on multiple jobs in the future. Oh well, guess that's what NG+ is for.

Hey guys just completed Witch Hunt with Selene and
she wants to shack up in my home. Is there any way to actually have this happen because it takes me to a item 'present' screen but I don't know what to give.

She'll be at your house when you next visit it. When she says she wants to live at your place she's not asking permission; she's telling you how things are going to be from now on.
The item giving pop-up isn't actually related, it's just the standard menu that always pops up when you talk to Selene that lets you give her herbs to make beer for you. The booze she makes is needed for a couple of notice board quests, but has nothing to do with the actual Witch Hunt quest.

The game tells you that it's a fight that will take multiple encounters to complete due to how much HP he has. He'll fly away after a bit and to come back and challenge him again you'll need to rest at an inn first then go back down.
It's a bit annoying, as I had to do it 5 times for one kill, but the loot is worth it.
Edit: OH SNAP. Angry Joe's review of Dragon's Dogma is out. Some hating on Capcom DLC already.
Going to buy this soon, i just cant decide if i should go with 360 or ps3. Is there a version noticeably better than the other or can i just go for the one where i have more friends to exchange pawns with? Reading this thread i got incredibly hyped, cant wait to climb some huge monster
