Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

ixix

Exists in a perpetual state of Quantum Crotch Uncertainty.
So I haven't seen the shops in Gran Soren get new equipment in forever.

Is the rest of my equipment just going to be drops or is there a certain story point where this happens?

How far into the game are you? If you've met the duke there's a quest you can do to update shop inventories. If you've already completed that quest then the shops are done updating until the post-game.

How far am I from the end...or rather first end?

I just killed the
Cockatrice....I think...he kinda flew away. I guess a Pawn killed the dude who summoned it
and now I got asked about an expedition for the Duke which seemingly will kill more missions.

Not that I am in a hurry (quite the opposite) but yeah how much longer until my mind is blown from the supposedly awesome ending.

Also did I miss some Duchess missions? She literally says the same thing every time I talk to her.

Didn't know you only do the idol quest once with the merchants...

... I gave Madeleine a fake bronze one a while back

Level 30 is a good time to tackle that guy.

I finished running through the Shadow Fort and ran straight into Mr Dragon. I died a few times, my first try took a day and a half in-game time, until I kind of cheesed my way through.
There's a big rock formation nearby and climbing up it forces the bastard to fly up into 'hang for a few seconds before I flame you' mode while exposing the heart for a billion arrows.
He killed my pawns a million times while I hung back as a ranger. When I was done, two of the red leather items I had on upgraded to dragonforged for some reason which was nice. Not sure why 3 star other stuff I had on didn't upgrade too.

Party Pooper
Woe spawns a very powerful wight, loads of giant undead and skeleton lords, and hellhouonds until you kill the wight, overall very scary.

The sorrow chamber spawns the evil eye, hellhounds, grimgoblins and the eye's tentacles endlessly, I was confused on where to exit since I kept going in circles and the tentacles kept wrecking my shit...I tried to run the fuck out but I ended up saying FUCK THIS and using a ferry stone.

I did those at 45/46, what class are you, what level of pawns?

Had no idea what the Eye did and it petrified/killed 2 of my pawns, so it was just me and the mage for 20 minutes until I finally killed it.

Metal golems, Lich and giant undead...

I think I need another class other than fighter to kill these guys, I cant do it man...they're fucking with me!

The Drake near the Shadow Fort is.. wow. I guess I'll have to keep avoiding it for a while longer.

There's a rock north to him that if you stand on it his charge attack can't hit you. Any time his eyes light up, just drop off the rock opposite the side he's on and get back on when the fire stops. Only time I have to get down otherwise is when the idiot pawns die. Basically the fight's a major bore. Dragon hovers up, I shoot a wing, he falls down, I wait for mage/sorcerer to do huge ice attack, rinse, repeat until he's dead.

Minor spoilers; Witchwood Golem questions:

I've been trying to figure out how the Golem stuff works in Witchwood, cause I want to wake up the golem that is sleeping infront of the 'path' directly under the Witches house. Does anyone know exactly how these guys work? Do you need a quest to wake them up, and if so, where is that quest?

I haven't done that yet. Maximillian warned me that all my sidequests would be forfeit, so I figured I'd go do those first.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol

The one blocking the path wakes up as part of a quest. I forget the name at the moment, but you'll get it from the Gran Soren Inn quest board eventually.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Wow...got my pawn back from someone else using her, and she was wearing completely different gear that gets gifted to you if they change what you have. I now have a pretty amazing wand and robe, thanks random person!

I'm pretty disappointed by the Mystic Knights max vocation skills. I had a lot of fun being a magic archer, so I may try that now, or try being a ran

Right at the start of the game, when you face the
Hydra
, afterwards the lady who you escort the head with.... the armor she has, anyone know where you can get that from?

So I'm in the Witchwood collecting King Bay Leaves and this
metal golem
starts attacking me.. Right when
I'm on the last amulet
, a golem comes out of nowhere and starts wrecking shit lol. Can't see anything and I'm kinda panicking, haha.

This game, man.

Probably been answered before but i am way too lazy to search about it. How long does it takes to finish the main storyline? How long does it takes to finish it with side missions involved?

Somewhat spoilerish question about the princess.

Is it possible to have her as your love interest? I just did the part where the King tries to choke her to death and I got thrown in jail. When I visit her I can gift her presents and she's really into my character it seems.

I thought he was going to rape her at first.
.
You can have love interests in this game
?
And gift shit to NPCs
? If you can this is news to me. I haven't really tried either so yeah.

It took my about 39 hours, focused on the main quest and I did a few side quests.

Yeah, it's possible. Friend of mine
ended up with Aelinore. I missed out on the quests involving her, though. If you want her, though, I believe there is one more thing you have to do.

This game NEEDS an Arena..
handicaps(pre-selected vocations or weapon types) and waves with out the use of healing items that don't come from fallen enemies, 80 different levels and an overpowered nightmare version of you and your pawn at the top level.. i'd pay good money for that.

Mystic Knight will cheese all of them.

Loving Mystic Knight.. Killed the Devilfire Grove Drake as a Mystic Knight.. Used the Ruinous Sigil and the Dragon would climb on top of it and be fucked. My pawn would then throw giant spires of ice, and then I'd enchant my sword and slice away at the art. Poetry..

Doing the
Deny Salvation
quest, and there's a wall that says I could break it down with a strong blow, anyone know how to do this?

There's an explosive barrel up the stairs a little bit. Place it near the crack, and shoot it with an arrow (or smack it with your sword). Alternatively, you can use an explosive skill or spell.

I played a few hours (reached the capital) and I don't know what to think about the game. Is great in a lot of things, but when it does something wrong, it does it incredible wrong and unintuitive.

There are a lot of... not errors... design decisions, that if they changed them, the game would be nearly perfect.

Yeah this game could use some fine tuning.

That's why I'm glad its selling well.

~Major Ending Spoilers~

Oh man, having to choose between sacrificing your love interest or facing the dragon was so hard. I so very wanted to let the dragon eat the duchess, but I also wanted to have an epic final battle. I was just sitting there staring at the screen for like five minutes before I finally decided to kill that know-it-all jerk.

That boss fight was so JRPGish in its ridiculousness, but it was awesome. "Epic" is really the best word to describe it with. I wish he wasn't such a wuss, though. I can't imagine how easy it would have been if I actually had time to prepare and get pimped instead of charging in early because I accidentally triggered the Final Battle quest.

But seriously, to hell with this game's matchmaking mechanics. That royal nutter can fuck off back to Bumblefuckistan for all I care. Give me Mercedes or Madeleine.

~Major Ending Spoilers~

Not sure whether I'll proceed with post-game or start over with a Strider/Assassin character.

Too bad they make the choice for you. If you choose the sacrifice, Game Over. The only way to get to the post game and NG+ is to choose to fight the dragon.
