I feel stupid even asking, but what do the primary skills do? I set them, but don't notice any difference in my attacks when fighting :/

I got my screenshot uploads all figured out. I wish all games had this feature. Here's my party, with my big lug, Ygnatz.

Just got the game (on PS 3). Any tips for a complete beginner, as far as classes, or things I should immediately do, like promote my pawn or seomthing like that?

Not much really, it will take a while to get used to the gameplay mechanics and how things generally work. The only thing I did was to finish a lot of sidequests before doing the main missions.

Pick a class that is appealing to you; all of them are mostly balanced and have unique abilities.

Pick up stuff and sell. Some ordinary objects (foreign knives) can give you a lot of helpful monies at an early level.

Yeah, early class stuff doesn't really matter. Go with what you want.

This right here is what has been lacking in so many games since, hell, I'd say SNES/Genesis. The only games that have managed this well in the last 10 years that I can namedrop off the top of my head were Silent Hill 1&2, Everquest 1, and maybe Dead Space 1 - and even then only EQ1 had the combat depth and risk vs reward concepts to give a similar feel of adventure and dread to this game, but that didn't have combat that felt this good.

This game certainly isn't perfect, but few of my GOTY ever have been. It's gonna take some doing to knock this off the top slot for me this year.

When a game can be compared to old school PC or SNES/Genesis games on gameplay, you know it's good.

Same thing happened to me too. Did you give all the four
letters that you purchased from that vendor near the inn?

Me too.

My brother did this and
he was found not guilty so I guess thats what you have to do

Does anyone know how long King Bay Leaf takes to respawn? I currently have 3 and need 2 more. I spent 2 days resting and haven't appeared. The chests are still open too.

I was initially hesitant to give all four since I felt they would find out, so I just gave the expensive ones but still he was found guilty! I have to do another playthrough now. Not a big deal, though. Doesn't take long to reach post-game when you're level 90 with basically enough gold to buy as many Port Crystals and Ferrystones as you wish.

In before people blame faulty pawnAI for him being found guilty..Your pawns never expected you to NOT turn in the evidence that would help clear Ol' Fornie

you can't get a guilty verdict with the blurred innocent letter, its fullproof, sure you didn't buy a guilty letter and turn that in?

what girl is selling one? i did the spoiled brat escort and somehow despite doing everything right got a golden egg ( i answered no to the first question but haven't read that it should make a difference.)

So do I ever get my Inn back?
Since half the capital is gone is there a spot nearby to change vocations, get my items back, etc?

post game spoilers:

Speaking of Fournival, I heard for that quest where you
kick the family out of their house, and you find them outside at the camp during post game, if you buy the house for them, the wife and the kid would end up dying because they were inside their house during the Everfall thing

They lives in my game because I was being a douchebag

Forgery mechanic is really cool, but it turns out that if you gift someone a forgery they get a trophy for it, ruins the surprise. :/

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol

I thought you only got the forgery trophy when you forged something like an Idol, where it actually has "Forged" in the name. I'd think that would ruin the surprise more than the trophy. :lol

A few quick questions regarding New Game+. Sorry if these have been answered before.

1) On New Game +, do enemies' levels change or are they the same the first time through (contrary to, say, Dark Souls)?
2) Does all equipment, items, skills, etc., carry through to the next playthrough?
3) Do all completed quests carry though?
4) Do quests that have not been completed reset, giving you a 2nd shot of completing a quest?

Thanks!

Question time again. I escorted Asalam to the Healing Springs, found an item that allows me to gain experience at a higher rate. Can that be forged, and still work, or will it be a dud. Came across bandits in a Canyon.

I've also seem to let my curious nature get the better of me and I have somehow stumbled onto the BlueMoon Fort? What should I do? explore get what I can, or leave and return later?

Good God, this game is amazing, exploration never felt so good.

1) It's identical to the first time you played.
2) Everything carries over. Inventory, level, vocations, items, everything.
3) No, none of the quests do.
4) Yes.

The enemies don't get upgraded, and yes, all the equipment, items and skills will be available. You have to complete all the quests again, they don't carry through in NG+.

I hate: That i finally fought my first metallic golem and the last crystal i needed to bust to kill him was 40 feet in the air and the only archer in my group couldn't put it together and shoot the fucking thing. I had to run away. ... run.... away. Fucking unacceptable. Back to assassin.

This is my biggest problem/irritation with the game. They built it around pawns and pawn interactions, but they made the AI brain-dead stupid. If you feel the need to tell me 100 times over and over that the enemy is weak to fire, and you possess the ability to use fire attacks F*cking use them! If you're a strider and you feel the need to point out that the Golem is vulnerable on the glowing discs - SHOOT THEM, DUMMY! I hope this game is selling well enough in the West to get a sequel here, and hopefully they listen to the various complaints because this could be one of the best, if not the best, action RPGs on any console.

I get a weird feeling that they'll ditch pawns and just have co-op MP for the next game.

I hope not. I ended up liking the Pawn concept and what it had to do with the story. It would be cool if they limited the number of Pawns you take on to 1 and than allowed an online co-op player and their Pawn for DD2.

That would be a horrible mis-step in my opinion. I don't think they will though as it's such a core concept to the game. I could see maybe 2 player co-op where you each bring along your own pawn though.

the metal golem problem occured for me too, but my problem was: sorcerer, mage, fighter, warrior ... O,o

with ranger/strider pawn, all was good, they shot the medals... i didn't count, how many times they screamed "shoot the glowing medal" and they did it. normal golems to. they miss a lot, but they shoot it.

when hiring a pawn, it is so important to look at the pawns profile. i saw so many rangers with a "medicant/guardian" inlicination ... so dumb. these people should get rocks as a gift... or not hired...

I give rotten eggs to bad pawns. I literally maintain a stock of rotten eggs in my inventory to give as "gifts". Bad pawn makers are worse than bad parents.

God's had his chance.
What really got to me was that I had a fairly capable ranger in my group. She was shooting her bow...at the golem. I tried evey command while staring at the crystal...nothing. I've never had a problem with their ai until now. In fact it seems I'm one of the few that has never had an issue with my mage pawns...whenever there is.t and enemy arou.d spam help and they run through every buff they have on the whole party. Just part of my pre-everfall chamber routine now.

But dat golem. Uhh...pissed me off. So sad climbing to its head and attempting to jump off and hit it like that. Frustrating.....no doubt.

The biggest issue I had was bringing an ice mage to the big dragon fight and she wouldnt use the ice spike attack once I knocked the dragon down and stunned it. Made the fight much longer than it needed to be.

I was leveling Warrior when fighting the Metal Golem and my hired Ranger pawn, who is usually very helpful, shot the disc on the tree ONE time in about 20min of attempting.

I just left and came back when I switched back to being a Ranger myself. Killed it in 2min.

The sequel needs co-op. 4 player, or 2 with main pawns. AI cannot be trusted to do what is needed in given situations.

I send them back with bad reviews. I'm not sure what choices they made, but some pawns refuse to fight and just follow me around mid-fight. I want aggressive pawns who use their skills.

Anything I should actively avoid selling? I get the sense most of the "other" types with the crystal icon for the category are there for selling to vendors but then of course there are items that appear to be quite important in there too.

Also, materials: should I dump them all into storage when I get the chance?

Pawn horror stories, haha. I hired a mage once that refused to do anything to the larger foes except climb on them. Useless!

There's quite a few collect-a-thon quests, the ones I can think of are Seekers Token, Skulls, War Bugles and King Bay Leaves. There are a bunch of others though. I tend to just keep them in my storage as they don't usually sell for a great deal anyway.

Dump all materials into your storage as soon as you can. You can still enhance with them from the storage so there's no reason to carry it with you and it's best to save everything just in case.
