Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

Oh my god, ran into an ogre in the wild and beat it at lv14. That was so wild, it was one shotting my pawns and I could take two hits max, wowo took 8 minutes to beat but worth it.

What's the quest line for Witch Wood? I feel like I missed something, as I've just been killing random shit/exploring since the game started. The only major quests I've done so far:
the well quest, escort the cart, and the underground pawn quest
, otherwise I've just been leveling. Sitting @ lvl 20 now with not much time played(feel like it's REALLY fast to level), guess I should start questing for a bit, as I can't find any good weapons in shops anymore..

oh wow. i just finished witchwood at level 13 and thought i was overleveled for it. It's not hard at all, you'll walk right through it. hardest part about it is finding the right route to the witches house.

My pawn is finally shaping up @ Rank 7 Mage, finally got some good heals/support stuff for her.

Kinda pissed that the Metamorphosis potion doesn't respawn in the shop, so I guess I can't make my pawn taller(didn't notice how short she was til now) :(

Yes, use the pawn chair. Mine hardly says anything now unless it's something new.

It was
to find Quina, and was given by a guy near the gate of the first town.
He walks right by the well so it's hard to miss, but I heard someone earlier in the thread say the quest expired after they did the
underground pawn one
, so it might be too late for you.

I got a quest in Gran Soren to go there for another reason, so I knocked them both out.

I've spent the majority of tonight in the capital doing quests. Just left on a mission and ran into a Chimera. Thought it'd be tough, but I plowed right through it.

This may be because I happened to pick up a pair of daggers that does both physical and a shit ton of fire damage, though.

I really want to go assassin, but I'm going to max out Strider I think before I change over.

alright i just had an exhaustive romp through the caves leading to the southern (southwestern?) camp (doing the Hunter's quest where you're supposed to take back an outpost) and I am drained. is there anywhere to sleep/level up within my vicinity? I'd rather not trek all the way back to the capital, and I think the damn bandits are the other direction and my health is super low. seriously i just fought
3 trolls, two of them at once
and i have very little health.

Sigh. The save system sucks. I KNOW I quicksaved, yet it's telling me I didn't...get to replay about an hour of hard shit again. Second time this has happened.

Also: fuck this combat system. It's got some laggy ass controls. Keeps trying to do shield block stuff when I released that button over a second ago. Makes it impossible to quick block and then fight back.

Just finished doing a quest in a cave, then when I went to turn it in the dude tells me to clear out 2 ogres-_-

I kill the ogres and when I get to the exit of the cave to turn in the 2nd quest what do I see? No daylight, I just made it back to Gran Soren(luckily it wasnt far) But had to fight off a bunch of goblins, hobgoblins, and some zombies. Good thing I also had the magic archer light arrow skill.

To top it all off, as soon as I got into Gran Soren day begins to break...

This game is so great. I love the pawn system, I love the way the combat flows, and I love the aesthetics. I'm taking my sweet time with it and it's incredibly enjoyable. I just
arrived at the Capital City, so I'm sure this is where I can really do what open-world rpgs do best.

bad gameplay lol

Actually there's three ogres. Unless it's a different quest. I thought it was two as well, but that's because I had a different quest that was "Kill two ogres". That one popped as cleared after I killed the second one, but I didn't bother to read which quest it was for, so I thought it was for the guy outside. I go outside to talk to him, and he just repeats the same thing about killing all the monsters in the cave. So I check my quests and lo and behold, "Kill all ogres in the cave (2/3)". Still have one more to go. Fuckers are tough. -_-

I've been looking at this game for a while and it looks awesome. I only have a PlayStation 3 but I just can't shake the feeling that this might get released on pc one day. the game looks great just I'd rather have it on pc.

Same quest, forgot about the first ogre. They are mighty annoying.

No lag problems for me...what system are you on?

EDIT: Also I dont think i've had any problems with manual saves...are you talking about dying and then choosing retry or just reloading in general?

Also cool that they use curatives, but I really hope they use arrows and other tools as well. I stocked up my main pawn with a bunch of poison arrows among other things, and i've been giving them to other pawns as well. I guess i'll pass on equipping other people's pawns since they'll probably be upgraded themselves...and it kinda helps to keep their unique appearance.

I don't trust those auto-saves, so I just manually save after a hard battle. Haven't had any problems so far.

Also, got the Guts armor. Love the dusk time setting.

Man I have logged like 55+ hours now. 40 or something in the first play through and now assorted hours doing different things. What a timesink:) That Guts armor looks great!

Though they haven't said NO. They have been pretty clear that this is a console only title for various reasons. That of course can change. I hope it does. But man you are missing out for sure.

is anybody having trouble finding pawns created by friends on PSN?

as I can't seem to find my friend's pawn.

Haha wow, I'm so over this awful blocking targeting. Gonna roll something else if I can ever get out of here.

Try tapping in the direction you want to block before pressing the button, works for me.

I turned off that button legend at the bottom right of the screen in the options.

I think I like it better with it off. It still shows up when you can examine or talk to people though if anyone is worried about not being able to see those.

it really feels like I am. it looks like so much fun but the limitations of being console only almost kill it for me.

If you have a fighter, and have the right move mapped (it's the move mapped to RT+O/B in the demo) you can hold both triggers and do a backwards leap move, sans the lunge attack that normally follows. It's really useful. (It's basically the Dark Souls move) And I like it more than the dodge, because you're facing the target and your shield is at the ready.

i accidentally did this move and avoided a skewering from a shield and sword thug, glad to know it wasn't a glitch!

Holy shit!

So I finally get to play today. I rest at the Inn and get an update that someone used my pawn. :D

Not only did I get 2500 rift crystals but the guy gave me a Scholar's Coat for my magey-type to wear.

This game is excellent.

I can totally see that but as ports are MANY times not as good as the actual real versions AND this one has some issues. I think it might be easier to go with the devil you know versus the devil you don't know...and may never come.

excellent point. I'll definitely make a decision soon. what sort of irks me is the lack of multi player. I understand the pawn system just curious about the replay value.

I'm going to buy it tomorrow morning (my birthday gift to myself, yay!) Just one question: does the game have a definite end, or can you continue exploring once the story is complete? Thanks!

So I'm in the Rift Shop looking around, and there's a "premium ring" going for 1.5 MILLION Rift points? and all it seems to do is raise defense by a point? what the hell is this

I never expected it so I sort of am ok without it being there. I think that perhaps a sequel will allow that you know? It sounds like its selling well. We will see but I could see a sequel fixing those issues and perhaps even coming to PC as well once they identify that a new IP like this has legs.

I know many people miss the co-op. I sort of try to just concentrate on what is there in the finished product. It may not be exactly what I want but what is there is damn sweet:)

Also you could rent or Gamefly it? No loss of full price or anything.

Man, I would like to fight in the dark if things would show up better. Blehhhh. Still having a blast, think I'm up to 23 with my Assassin.

I have fought in the dark, I do fine unless it just won't pop up. I'm not good with technical terms so I don't know what to call it. They just don't pop in unless I'm incredibly close to them. Either that or chimera's can go invisible in the dark.

I really love going to an inn in this game and seeing if other people are using my pawn. I've actually spent more time upgrading and equipping the pawn over my main character lately. I have 5 stars for all 3 categories right now. :')

Started playing at 4....just looked at the clock. :O

Time flew! I am absolutely loving this game. So very good despite it's small problems. Every battle is epic and each quest feels like a real, arduous journey. Combat is perfect and very satisfying. Up to level 22 now and am just starting to get some cool looking gear. :D

Ran into a drake in the woods North West of the bandit fort. I don't think I've been thrashed that hard by a game in years. I barely scratched him, he was just throwing me around and napalming me into oblivion.

Any tips other than avoid him?

What are the quests like in this game? Simple fetch quests? Kill x amount of y? Is there a lot of variance in the quests?

Yeah, I'm with a lot of you. What a damn game. When it was first announced, I told myself I was getting it day 1 and that never changed. No regrets at all. This is more like an adventure than a game! Of course I have a few gripes with it and there's small problems, but it's still great.

I like when people send my pawn back with a rock.

It's all I've been getting. :p

I've put about 5 hours in thus far. My pawn has been whored out about 4 times thus far. Got a nice floral staff for her too. Thing was valued at around 7k gold. She'll be hanging onto this staff for a while.

Also
where is a black cat around the capital? I have pre-order DLC but i don't know where to find it. I was just told find the black cat?
