DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada

Most probably. Hope they have a new build up and running there. Maybe we even get to see that snow or lightning! I'd love to see lightning and torrential downpour, as well as a snow storm. The previews of the snow based weather system in particular seemed fantastic.

no thanks, I would like some wonder and sense of discovery still left when I finally experience the game on my own. Don't want every single thing previewed before release.

F' me! Imagine if they patch in Morpheus support down the line...

The visuals will be dumbed down for that though, since VR needs 60fps or you'd throw up.

Disingenuous my ass.
There is some revisions history going on here as if DriveClube is the first game to have epic long draw distances in a racing game.

The 1080p resolution makes this game have a automatic superior IQ over the 360 & PS3 games, but outside that, what is so revolutionary about it?

The number of cars on screen, the car physics, the car deformation, the framerate, etc...
I'm with Jeff Gerstmann, when he said that this doesn't look anything too special.

I doubt it. Most big racing fans also had no problem with the PGR games, which had absolutely no customisation outside of the basic livery editor in PGR4.

there where some problems with pgr apparently.

lack of depth for those who you call "big racing fans" was one of them.
but games where great overall, and only after the appearance of forza motorsport their narrow(er) scope was a problem for these players.

lack of customization was one thing, lack of precision was another. like back at the time (2006?) when somebody passed my time in the ring and I checked his replay, only to find that he used a ...guardrail bump to get ahead of me.....
both I and the person who had the single time faster than me back then (I had no2 at the time), we where disappointed.

I understand all the love that pgr series gets -hell I loved it more than everybody- but its not like pgr games where 100% "free of problems" for the racing fans.

but anyway, to put things into perspective, the last time a pgr game was made, it was in fuckin' 2007!!! thats right, the start of previous gen!

I am 100% sure that had bizarre creations continued to work on pgr their game would have evolved at least as much as the very best of the genre.
lets just not pretend that EVERYTHING was 100% perfect back then.

GT7 will likely release with Morpheus support. GT5 (& 6?) supported headtracking + stereoscopic 3D and 60fps so they're practically already there technically.

The visuals will be dumbed down for that though, since VR needs 60fps or you'd throw up.

Eye tracking -> foveated rendering -> looking better than that at 60fps.

Sure, but when you're experiencing VR your brain doesn't really care. Even really simple stuff is amazing in VR.

Yeah. I didn't mean that by saying it'd be a worse experience in VR, just that the visual fidelity won't be as good. It won't matter for those using the Morpheus, but it might suck for those viewing the screen if they have the PS4 outputting to both a TV and the Morpheus. But I don't think that matters much either, atleast not for me.

It's the negativity surrounding the responses to the image.

Duplo = funny.

I was gently mocking those guys who posted a picture of GTV to demonstrate how it looks better than Driveclub with its flat mountains and toy cars, when it clearly, clearly doesn't. And I don't actually think GT looks ugly either :)

I've been playing arcade videogames since they were back-projections and a mechanical gun, so I can find enjoyment in them regardless of looks and coding deficiencies. Sniper Elite 3 is shoddy as hell so far, but I can see already it's a great game besides.

Such a shame we're not getting access to this, would be good to see how the handling has moved on and the impact of weather. Visuals look stunning in that wet weather clip.

Sorry. Got it out of context. You've been gaming as long as me then and can't really believe how good we have it these days with instaload and infinite lives.

I think the original comment on the image seems to be highly critical and I thought (mistakenly) you were reinforcing that.

Lets not pretend PGR2 was not 100% perfect back then.

pgr2 was my favorite game for years, but its just not reasonable to bring up a game that was released more than ...11 years back (and two console generations ago), in order to say that the lack of customization and/or precision did not hurt the big racing fans back then, so its ok in 2014 too.

It has nothing on GT5, or Shift2, or NFS The Run, or Assetto Corsa, or Beamng, or Spintires, or

I know we should respect others opinions, but this is just plain wrong and you know it...it's like looking at a Ferrari and saying it has nothing on a Fiat, or looking at a shity painting of mine and say it looks better than Da Vinci's Gioconda.

Trolling has is limits and I think this is crossing the realm of acceptability...but whatever helps some sleep at night...I just think Evolution has to get credit when credit is due, and this is a feat since the game looks leaps and bounds better than any other racer on any platform. Props!

Looks absolutely fantastic - and Evolution says in the comments that it already looks better at their studio due to optimisations and added details :-)

Has there been anymore specific game-play details revealed beyond those in this thread?

Game has slipped off my radar for now given the limited wheel support for PS4/XB1 so I may have missed something.

Oh! That's neat. Really love all these nice little details that show their passion for pure unadulterated racing.
That's what most games do now with PlayGo. You're dropped into gameplay with prescribed parameters while the game installs/downloads in the background.

True. The technology enables it for sure. But it's still up to the devs to do it, right? For example, i really liked how transistor took you straight into the game. More multiplat devs should start adopting this approach

GTAV, GT5, PGR 3 & 4, Grid 1 & 2, Dirt 2 & 3, pretty much all the recent Need For Speed games.

I mean the graphics aren't that far above the games I mentioned.
Higher LOD backgrounds, high res textures & 1080p withstanding.

This is obvious trolling.

I may not know the rules well yet, but isn't this a ban-worthy offense?

--------------------

Anyway, the only game I see close to driveclub, is Project cars, and even then, I don't think it looks as good in gameplay footage (it does look great in downsampled shots though)

I'm just saying that multiplatform developers for even the most whored franchises (like NBA and FIFA) have done it for launch games.

The minimum expectation for me is that a first party studio is matching that.

I also want the game to load in sub-10 seconds and using the LiveArea for friends challenges and other stufd so I can jump into something without starting the game through the menus. FIFA completely wastes the opportunity to make me play a round of Ultimate Team everyday just because it'd be no hassle. Basically, do everything Killzone did but do it better.
