Of course not, but it's not like you can track down and arrest everyone that does.Jonk said:This is really, truely terrible, but are people in NM allowed to do that- shoot firearms in midair?

:lol Well if you had enough firepower, I suppose it could reach escape velocity and fly through space.Bacon said:It seems to happen all the time with no real consequences.

Bowser said:Not to sound like an ass, but they made an episode of CSI based around this. Some dumbass was doing target practice and some lady yelled at him telling him to stop, so he just shot one up in the air, and it hit a another lady like 6 blocks away in the chest, killing her instantly.
But yeah, this is horrible.
Seriously... people in the Middle East are probably going to start doing this now that Americans are thereSolo said:America, leaders of the free world.

Minotauro said:Well, you have to figure they come down eventually but what is the probability of one actually hitting someone? I would assume it's a pretty rare occurrence.

Generally the person either fires a blank or aims at someone in the crowd who deserves to dieJ2 Cool said:So uh.. what about bullets at like a race track. Fire them suckers off at a public event, there's no danger in it?
People shooting their guns into the air after the fall of Baghdad killed over 20 people.Bacon said:It seems to happen all the time with no real consequences.

ummm, what? Obviously the bullets fall fast enough to break through a skull. Who cares if it loses speed.akascream said:Like a shotgun, the pellets lose speed and fall not very far from where you shoot.

Considering only the initial upward velocity and gravity, the bullet will come down just as fast as it was originally shot; however, air resistance acts on it for the entire trip so it doesn't get quite that bad. Still highly dangerous.SnowWolf said:Some of you guys need to review projectile motion. Even if the bullet loses speed going up into the air because of air resistance, it regains some of it coming back down and still has enough to easily kill somebody.
