Maybe Sparse Grid would still work?
Not if there's no AA code for that engine. And it won't bring out texture detail etc like 4k downsampling will. :\

Wow you guys are overreacting to that tweet. Kellams only meant that in good fun, c'mon!
"IF I CAN'T PLAY THIS GAME AT 120 FRAMES PER SECOND AT NEEDLESSLY LARGE RESOLUTIONS THEN EVERYONE AT PLATINUM CAN GO TO HELL!"

Finished building it today, $18,000 machine.
i7-4960X, 64GB DDR3 2400Mhz RAM, 4 x GTX780 Ti's, 4 x 512GB Samsung 840 EVOs in RAID, 4 x 3TB HDD, etc etc...
My home PC is more than capable(i7-3930k, 2 x MSI Lighting GTX680s) but hopefully there will be a mod in the future to make 4K doable.
Do you have a monitor with a higher resolution than 1080p? If you did, you'd understand. They really don't scale as nicely as televisions.

depends. sometimes i take the visual hit because many games don't scale ui, so you have tiny ass text and shit at 1440p+
I do, but most games that came out first on consoles don't have good enough textures to make it look good with or without downsampling. Dark Souls is one of the rare exceptions, despite it being a quickie job.Do you have a monitor with a higher resolution than 1080p? If you did, you'd understand. Durante should do this and then put up a shingle. Hey Japan, Goddammit, fucking hire Americans to localize your games. We can make your jokes funny, we can make your idioms fit, we can explain things and make your games better, and we work for sake and schoolgirls.

Even without the texture resolution being up to snuff, scaling 1080p to a 1600p monitor introduces all sorts of ugly blurring. Native resolution is a big improvement even for something like Half-Life 1.

I'm sure he meant that as a joke, but how can he not be embarrassed by the fact that Platinum can't complete a task that a single person routinely does for fun in his spare time?
Holy poop. How much esram you got in their?
I just don't understand this. It sounds to me like you need to do all the work required to make a game support variable resolutions (which isn't really much in the first place, but I digress), and then on top implement some half-assed resolution selection system. Which you then need to manually update.
The code for doing it right in the first place, that is, querying the available resolutions in DirectX 9, is like 15 lines at most, and (like all of DirectX really) it's documented perfectly in MSDN.
Can I come over andplaypray to it?
More importantly, that's 4 * 3 GB GDDR5 which is 12 GB GDDR5 or 50% more powerful than a PS4. Amazing.
c'mon, it's their first port and its dirty cheap. (i've seen it at 10 euros now 0_0)
I'm wearing my dunce cap already so please don't beat me too severely, but I thought once upon a time I read something about the brain not being able to perceive frame rates above a certain threshold because of limitations of the eye or something like that.
Am I just making this up? Does anyone know what I am talking about?
Who needs more than 1080p?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure XCOM: EU tops out at around 1080p unless it does something where it only displays resolutions support by your screen and no one complained about that.I agree. These are one of the few Japanese developers who are actually enthusiastic about the PC platform, and here we are shitting on them. It's not uncommon for 1440p+ resolutions to not be official supported in games, even for western developed games.
Jezus christ that is embarrassing.
Disgusting
Disgusting and pathetic. They truly see us all as cows to be milked. Fuck platinum.

Then... don't scale and use windowed mode. Unless it's suddenly considered abnormal to preserve aspect ratio and all that jazz instead of stretching everything out, including textures that weren't designed for anything above 720p ('cuz consoles). Disgusting. Yes, you won't be using every precious pixel of your monitor, but as long as the performance is up to snuff with a constant 60 fps the end result will be tolerable. Definite room for improvement, but passable. It'd be a lot bigger deal if this was priced at 50 - 60 dollars though and if this was lauded as anything but Platinum Games' first forray into PC gaming, but this isn't the case. Maybe there's some hard-coded limitation we don't know about either because again, console game. Either way: misplaced joke on one side, somewhat immature knee-jerk responses on the other.Even without the texture resolution being up to snuff, scaling 1080p to a 1600p monitor introduces all sorts of ugly blurring. And I'd much rather have a low resolution UI pasted over high resolution 3D rather than forcing everything to be low resolution. Maybe you're not the same. PCs are about options though![]()
It's not a charity, a product that isn't up to standards isn't worth buying at any price.
doesnt work like that. Ram doesnt pool up in SLI. You still have 3gb of video ram available.
I don't think JP worked on Rising, so I would take that as just a personal tweet.
Yes. Exactly 100% this.
I'm basically saying that the >1080p needs an advocate in Japan and I volunteer.![]()
