Dusk Golem - Resident Evil: Zero and Code Veronica Remakes won’t be as “ambitious” as RE4 Remake

Zero was crap anyway and the turning point of the series going full retard. I still cringe about some tranny guy singing opera with mind controlled leeches.
I hear you but it was CV that set the controls to the heart of the retard, lol.

Funny thing about Zero, all the major issues were a direct result of Capcom altering things based on reviewers complaining about not being able to drop items, etc. Just goes to show that the majority of reviewers are wrong and can play a huge role in making things worse.

An item box definitely would help Zero but yea, the story is absolute trash, the enemies are dumb. So many issues with that game but the visuals and OST are damn good. IMO it's easily the most difficult mainline RE title. A playthrough where you mostly play as Rebecca, it's absolutely brutal, even on normal. Stingy as F with the heals, she gets to 'caution' with a quickness and those Marcus leech enemies will destroy you if you don't have a flame-based weapon. Even the crows are annoying and a threat. Brutal game.

Thats one hell of a hot take pal.
OG RE3 is an incredible title and putting anywhere near RE 0 is a travesty.

But hey, you do you.
It has interesting mechanics, but the constant annoyance of Nemesis, absurd backtracking, awful bosses, and lack of interesting plot developments makes it equally as bad as Zero.

P.S. Some consider invincible enemies scary and cool, but to me they are one more random obstacle to run around. The less they impede game progression the better. I really enjoy how Nemesis usually facilitates game progression in the remake instead of being a constant nuisance.

Orrrrr just fuck Zero since it was shit after the train anyway. Give CV a good proper remake with a sexy Claire and a full on nudey Alexia Ashford transformation again…Then focus on making a DMC6 with a Metroidvania style campaign closer to the first game with side content you pick up at Dantes Store. Then a brand new Onimusha with Sekiro style combat, go balls to the wall with the horror aspects and high fantasy, epic boss battles etc etc….Then maybe, if theres time RE9, maybe, but probably not…

Funny you mention that, I replayed it recently purely for the atmosphere. The train section is so gorgeous and visually beautiful, the soundtrack is haunting and soothing at the same time. The train section is great (if you ignore Sephiroth cosplay Pavarotti), but I think the game nosedives instantly once you hit the training facility.

Yea, agree completely. I still enjoy the game cause RE in general is my GOAT but Zero is by far the worst in the mainline entries, theres nothing of value in the actual gameplay. I played the Wii version on WiiU last year. Crazy how good the visuals hold up in the non-HD versions.

Code Veronica and RE0 sold like shit when compared to RE4 or better selling RE games. So I think it's fair to assume that if Capcom ever remakes RE0 and RECV they'll go for a lower profile remake as did in RE3R than the high budget direction than they did choose for RE4R.

I'm shocked.

I think OG Nemesis is just as good as RE1 and 2. One thing I really enjoy about nemesis is that it's similar to RE1 in that you can trigger different character interactions depending on which route you focus on. And I don't mean the scenarios that force you to make a decision. Im referring to simply exploring and coming across side characters. I wish RE would utilize that aspect again, I feel like its only in RE and RE3.

Aside from an increasingly off the rails storyline, I don't think either of these games added anything interesting from a gameplay perspective. I'd rather Capcom push forward on RE5 remake to see what the 4R formula would be with co-op, or to move on and deliver RE9.

A remake of Zero with couch co-op + Online co-op would be awesome. Billy & Rebecca have always been the best Duo in the series.

Marcus was a bit whack as a villain (which I think they could totally fix), but otherwise I thought Zero was a top tier title among the OG's. Not quite as good as REmake or RE2, but better than the rest (4 is KING).

Never understood the hate on Zero. Code Veronica on the other hand...

As much as I loved my Dreamcast, that game was a steaming pile of shit. Complete disappointment, besides the great graphics back in the day.

I'm currently playing the gamecube version of Zero on my steamdeck, and although it looks amazing for it's time, the clunky gameplay and terrible loading screens makes me really want a remake.
Did the same with MGS3, and the low resolution and clunky controls made it unplayable.
Very glad to see remakes of these early/mid 2000-classics!

DSC also made it so Alexia didn't seem to care at all about Alfred's death when in the original she coddled his dead body letting you know she at least gave a damn about her brother.

The OG game is weird because yeah she cradles him when he dies but there's also notes in the endgame where she's very transparent about her contempt for him and his lack of intellect and competence, despite their blood ties. Grateful for his obedience and loyalty perhaps, but ultimately she sees him as nothing but a useful, gullible tool.

Imagine remaking the REmake.

Feels like the time is coming and Capcom themselves have said that it's no longer improbable.

He gets on her nerves but he is still her brother. That's not that weird at all.

Shame since I liked CV more than the OG RE4. But so far the recent remake series RE2R, RE3R, and RE4R were extremely awesome and are easily my favorite RE games of all times since RE3 Classic. I' guess I'll be happy even if CV Remake turns out to be a smaller 12-14 hour game instead of a 20 hour+ game like RE4R.

Hated RE0 but I could like the remake version a lot more so I'm looking forward to that one too.

RE1 RE Remake and RE5 Remake are probably the only two remakes that will be as ambitious as RE4 Remake. RE1 ReREmake because it's the original game, the first one that started it all. And RE5 Remake because it's not only the first co op campaign game but also the one where Wesker meets his end.

I hope they eventually do a remake of the first game again, I hope it gets the the RE4 treatment. I wonder if they’d base the remake off the original or if they’d remake a remake. Maybe this is why this gets untouched, nobody has ever remade a remake lol. I’d be totally fine if they just replaced the assets in the last remake with higher fidelity assets and just leaves it all the same.
