And platined just now, 70h playtime, got not boring ^^
I'm still working on this off and on and my opinion of the game has gotten worse and worse.

Conquest mode needs incentives to play on harder difficulties. The grind for bonds and skill points for all characters is so brutal and slow that u may as well just play on easy to whip through the treadmill faster. There is no difference in progress on easy. At that point the game becomes so dull and trivial that..ugh. What am I doing?

Announce sw3z for us already. I need a better musou game.

Question about the Jin campaign (closer to the end).

How does Shima Shi die from an arrow to his mask? Even if it was to his face, how could he receive a fatal hit to his face and still finish the battle? I know it's pointless to analyze a game that is this crazy, but why would they frame the scene that way? Could have just had an arrow to the back or something.

Two more questions: What are the best conquest levels to grind? And do these damn scholar questions ever end?

The arrow was poison. The novel is much more gruesome. His eye popped out of his face. Originally, Sima Shi was said to have a large mole on his face. He had it removed in an operation and was told to rest. When someone raided his camp, his anger cause the wound to reopen and his eye popped out of it.

Just got this today and am grinding through the Wei campaign first. I actually like the split between Story and Conquest modes. Oddly enough though, is it just me or is Samurai Warriors 3 on the *Wii* somehow more polished in presentation and attention to detail?

That said, I am really liking the epic scope and how it feels pretty much like a "perfected" version of Dynasty Warriors.

PSN store was finally up and I finished the first DLC stage with Japanese voice, woot!

Finally some +4 and +8 with comboing in SanJiang Castle, I still don't know why KOEI only put +2s in most of their Conquest stages, regardless of difficulty.

Also Bomb is a fun weapon.

Waiting for the 2nd batch now, feelsgood.jpg

Yay, first thing I'm going to do after work is get all the DLCs and continue my story and conquest play-through. I stopped playing the game this whole time because of the lack of Japanese voice and DLCs

Is there a list of the content in the DLC? It's hard to tell from the descriptions, especially PAL PSN that has the DW1 costume info blurb doubled for the stage DLC...

I'm getting the voices but I'm not sure if a few extra costumes and stuff will make me go back to the game.

Getting close to the platinum. All I need to do is unlock everyone's abilities (which I think I'm close) and max out all the alliances. Any good places to grind this stuff out? I've been doing the "Wolves of Chaos" stage so much I'm getting sick of it, but it's working. I'm not sure what the best level to max alliances would be though.

Get the stages and weapons for actual game-play extensions. Other than that it's all cosmetics. Nice thing about stages is that the enemy drops +2s and +4s which you can combo into +4s and +8s, is better than any vanilla stages.

For weapons, none of them are really interesting except Bomb imo, not a big deal. Everybody have their set weapons of choice by now.

Do the conflict stages, mainly Conflict of Shouchun because the map's relatively small and contains a lot of generals. It's a Wu stage so all your allies are Wu characters which also helps because Wu has the most characters.

You can increase bonds with Wu commander by beating the stage, rescue one random character, complete one random character's objective, plus your sworn ally, as well as escorts if you purchased any. You can increase bonds with characters you beat as well but it doesn't increase as much.

STAGE Faction
Conflict at Xuchang JIN
Conflict at TianShui JIN
Conflict at Dongxing SHU
Conflict at Guandu SHU
Conflict at Xiakou Others(e.g. Lu Bu, Meng Huo,etc)
Conflict at Hefei Others
Conflict at Shouchun WU
Conflict at DingJun WU
Conflict at XiaPi WEI
Conflict at Chengdu WEI

If you're aiming to increase bonds for a specific character, do the rescue missions, they're also Force-specific I forgot which stage are for which force you can find out yourself. Quit the stage to change to the character you want since it's randomly determined.

Have another controller ready and join as 2p so he/she can gain skill points as well, don't forget to put skill pt+ abilities in. If you're still have some characters to max skills grind the stage you get Red Hare which has the most enemies.

Here's the Conquest map

Great, thanks for all the advice! I've been grinding Tong Gate Rescue Mission and Wolves of Chaos for so long I've actually dozed off while playing a few times. I could really use some new levels to add to the mix.

And are the merchants random? I can't think of anything that triggers them, but I would like a reliable way to buy escorts.

Seems like they appear after 3 battles.

Thanks. Seems like I'm always figuring out new things about this game even though I've already dumped an ungodly amount of time into it. One last question that I can think of, why does every character have death dialogue when the game almost never uses it? I swear the enemies run away every time.

Aw man, Amazon had this for $40 as a lightning deal earlier today and I missed it. I had the game in my wish list and I wish they would have sent me an email or something.

does this have character changing like in Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3DS?

(or does DW:Gundam 3, for that matter?)

I won't play this on consoles until that is in.

Also, final details on Mushouden 6/DW7XL confirmed! (Not domestically yet tho)

http://koeiwarriors.co.uk/dw7-xtremelegends.php

3 "new" chars: Guo Jia, Wang Yi, Pang De.

excerpt:
New Weapons
These include new weapon types for the new characters, as well as for decloning some characters

打球棍 Batting Stick - looks like billiard stick with its ball (Guo Jia's EX)
Normal attacks swing the stick to hit enemies. The ball can be placed on the ground and be used to damage enemies further
朴刀 Scimitar (New decloned EX weapon for Xiahou Dun)
Variable attack can be launched even when being hit
筆架又 Giant Fork/Sai (originally planned to be DLC -> Wang Yi's EX)
Able to guard from enemy attacks even when attacking
龍槍 Dragon Spear (New decloned EX weapon for Zhao Yun)
Excels in combo hits; enemies can be easily juggled for more combo
Charge attacks can also be canceled to C1 sweep

Treasure Weapons

Very powerful weapons that are obtainable in Legend mode; they have high attack power and lots of slots
Requirements for getting them can be checked inside the stage descriptions
Example: The treasure weapon for Crescent Halberd, 剛覇方天戟, can be gotten by playing Lu Bu's scenario in Chaos difficulty, then defeating Zhang Fei and other generals before Liu Bei retreats

New Modes
Legend Mode

There are two kinds of stages in this new mode: Hero Scenario and Legend Scenario
英 傑伝シナリオ Hero Scenario that shows story which focused on the characters rather than kingdoms. Specific focus will also be placed on the new characters
Hero Scenario also has the Seamless event-to-play transition that was present in DW7's Story Mode
レジェンドシナリオ Legend Scenario allows players to play past stage maps that had been remade for this game
(speculation: the likes of DW3 He Fei Castle perhaps?)
Player has a residence castle which reflects their status. By clearing more stages, the castle will be developed further
Clearing stages with certain conditions (such as hard difficulties) will yield special powerful weapons

Challenge Mode
There are 4 types of challenges here. 2 of them have been confirmed as of current

彗星 Comet: Defeat enemy by blasting them outside the area
暴風 Windstorm: Defeat as many people as possible within a time limit

Online ranking will also be available

New Gameplay Features
New Actions

無影脚 'shadowless feet' - Attacking while moving at high speed
転身 'turnover' - Evasive maneuvers when being attacked

General Rank

As characters grow up in strength, they will also improve their general ranks
Increment on general rank will bestow things from special ability to additional equipment on the character's costume
Military books can be bought to instantly power up characters. So players can use their most powerful characters to farm the money and then power up other characters with that

Mixjoy

Mixjoy is done by swapping with the DW7 disc back and forth. As with all previous XLs, Mixjoy needs to be done every time the game is restarted
Mixjoy is required in order to play Story and Chronicle modes
Story and Chronicle mode will be playable using any characters and co-op
Of course, DW7XL's new elements will be reflected in the DW7 content (such as Guo Jia getting unique)
The amount of money acquired, Weapons that are acquirable etc. will be adjusted based on the currently selected difficulty level

Others

There is no Edit Mode (aka Create-A-Warrior)
There are no Opening & Ending Edits here either
EX weapons are not to be changed by the DLC weapons
Online co-op will be also available in Legend Mode and the now co-opable Story Mode
Progress made from the DW7 save data can be imported to XL. Details on this are coming later
XL will have its own trophy set from the main DW7 game
XL's trophy set can be completed by itself without having to Mixjoy with DW7
XL will not have its own DLC. However, the DLC for DW7 are also usable in XL. Some of the DLC are also only accessible through Mixjoy (probably like stages)
New characters will also have original costumes. It is unknown though whether their costumes will be added by getting the respective kingdom's costume set or if there will be a brand-new DLC pack dedicated for them

All those DLCs are compatible with XL right?

So she exists just for a few new stages? I found her in RoTK11, though I'm sure there are better candidates, but I can appreciate a woman that actually participated in battles during that era.

Correct. In fact, there is no DLC planned for XL

"XL will not have its own DLC. However, the DLC for DW7 are also usable in XL. Some of the DLC are also only accessible through Mixjoy (probably like stages)"

All the info is in that post! XD

And regarding a few new stages, she'll probably get more than that in hero mode.

"Hero Scenario that shows story which focused on the characters rather than kingdoms. Specific focus will also be placed on the new characters
Hero Scenario also has the Seamless event-to-play transition that was present in DW7's Story Mode"

Forgive my laziness~ XD

XL sounds pretty hot, return of unique weapons and character-specific stages are very welcome.

Now that they just have to announce the damn thing in the west.

Should I take that to mean it contains all of the original game, then?

If so, good job I didn't buy the original!

The press release mentions Mixjoy, so no.

I sold my copy of DW7 so I don't know how good this will be without it. maybe I'll jsut wait for DW7: Empires. That has to happen at some point.

Might do the same, if thats the case. Stand alone expansion it may be, but expansions are never as good as the original game.

I typically buy Dynasty Warrior games every few installments. Looks like it's time for me to get back into it again.

Side note: anyone else wish there was Chinese voice acting in these games? I love the terribad Enlgish acting, but it would be great to hear it in Mandarin.

Did you play DW3 Chinese version? It's got Chinese voice acting and it's horrible.

How much are these DLC packs? Kind-of pondering getting back into DW7 to prep for Xtreme Legends.
~$4 per original costume pack, if I remember correctly. Stages cost about the same. Costly...the DLCs for older costumes were better bang for the buck for me. Especially for me since DW7 was my first musou. They really should have made these useable in Story Mode though.

Been thinking of picking up a musou game and gamefly has this for only 17.99. Should I pick it up or is there something else better that I should be getting? Haven't played one since Dynasty Warriors 5 on PS2.

Also PS3 or 360?

I've been thinking about buying this game and the Extreme Legends expansion. However, there's something I want to know... My only experience with the series so far has been Samurai Warriors 3 and Samurai Warriors Chronicles. I've heard that older Dynasty Warriors games didn't have the sub-mission systems like those two games. Anyway, does this game (and its expansion) also have the mission system?

Been playing crazy amounts of DW7 XL.

It's way easier to max characters out in Legend mode than anywhere else since you can just buy stat upgrades.

Nightmare mode is more of a nuisance than anything. Officers have a crapton of HP and they always seem to be getting buffs. Chaos is great though, even though I'm starting to think the title that restores HP whenever an enemy is hit makes things way too easy. Wei's side in the "Guan Yu's escape" level is the best farming level imo. It takes like two minutes to beat, there's a handy +10 health item within 10 feet of the starting point, and on Chaos it's an easy 20-30k.

Nobody else playing this game online is just tragic, especially since coop is available in almost every mode(unlike DW7 vanilla).

I don't think a lot of ppl are playing XL period, lol. Not to mention angry 360 owners who are left in the dark.

$40 is really asking a lot for the content they're offering, should've package Empires and XL together for a more compelling sell.
