I don't think P.C's like this effectively court 3rd party publishers

GitarooMan said:Not surprising to me, but I think regardless of what comes out later, the conference is just a really blatant example of how Nintendo doesn't give a shit about "core" gamers. That what people are reacting to here, but a lot of people here realized this long, long, ago and have moved on to MS and Sony for the majority of their gaming.
But isnt that basically what you do in Wii Sports? And we all know how that worked out for nintendo...ananag said:Wii Music looks horrible. You just press random buttons and flail your arms and the software plays notes related to the song being played. The motion control detection seemed real off (especially with the drums). The only cool thing about it was the use of the balance board for the pedals.
Why would anyone want this game though? Its air guitar which you have to pay for. At least stuff like Rock Band and Guitar Hero take skill to make the music come out right.
GitarooMan said:I hoped for that for years, but it seems like they are content to just pump out another Mario and another Zelda in 2009-10 to satiate Nintenfans and have no real interest in any new core gamer IPs.
That's a fair point, but E3 is when you show your companies policy and direction, so it makes more sense to show off the casual face that they're trying to cultivate. Plus, games like Zelda or Mario or Pikmin take time to make. It may have just been a case of Nintendo didn't have anything presentable to show at this point. The lack of any core game announcement's at all is a bit worrying, but again it's obvious they're there, so question becomes, "why weren't they shown?" That's the point I'm trying to make. GAF's over reacting.Y2Kev said:Nintendo doesn't need to operate around the industry anymore. To suggest that Nintendo needs to "use" E3 for media exposure when they get access to daytime talk shows, news programs, enormous billboards in Times Square, the blogosphere, etc., is like some kind of rationalizing yourself out of the picture. There's no reason to believe they couldn't have taken 5 minutes out of the conference to show Pikmin 3 (which I believe exists).

In 10 years we wont see anymore Ninja Gaiden, Halo, or Final Fantasy. The titles we currently enjoy will be put on gaming development's financial back-burner and fade into niche obscurity like fighting games, top-down shooters and PC-adventure of the past decade.
They will, just don't ever expect it to be shown at E3.dark10x said:I just want Nintendo to actually try another truly original IP aimed at those who loved games such as Zelda or Metroid. They have plenty of money and success now. Such a title would be truly fantastic.
ausoff2 said:whoa okay so i just woke up. Did nintendo's conference totally flop? Was there no news of, say, a new DS, or a new zelda game like people have been speculating?
Pseudo_Sam said:Come on, you know new Marios and Zeldas and Pikmins are coming. What's the big fucking deal? It's perfectly reasonable to declare Nintendo's E3 press conference a massive failure, but to proclaim that Nintendo is dead and you're selling your Wii would be denying the existence of these games. Just because they weren't shown here doesn't mean they aren't coming.
E3 has changed dramatically from what it was. The mainstream press is taking notice of it now, Nintendo is simply showing them what they want to see. I'm just think there's no reason to be so deliriously furious.
wait what? are you implying you know something we don't?ggnoobIGN said:I wouldn't be surprised if they gave another certain title it's own presser. I'm talking specifically, but won't comment on it. Why they didn't show it here is beyond me. Perhaps they now know the mainstream press follows them everywhere, and don't want to let them know they can still have appeal with the hardcore gamer.
Andrex said:Oh please, Wii Fit posed more of a thread (if any) to hardcores than Wii Music does. At least Wii Music looks fun.
I know. It's disappointing. Mario Galaxy shows just how much talent Nintendo has and seeing them try something original would be so awesome.GitarooMan said:I hoped for that for years, but it seems like they are content to just pump out another Mario and another Zelda in 2009-10 to satiate Nintenfans and have no real interest in any new core gamer IPs.

AniHawk said:I think this has more to do with fuckwits at MS and Sony pricing themselves out of the market. Not only did higher prices limit the userbase for the systems, but it made games much more expensive to make. Notice all the mergers going on? The buyouts? The companies failing over the last 6 years? That's not a good sign.
