E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

Seriously Sony, I'd be watching out for all sorts of YouTube fuckery. It happened with MGS V and than with Street Fighter V.

PSX Thread: 4 Megatons teased, Adam Boys joined the discussion and wrote poems, the hypetrains, Insiders everywhere, Journalist from France teasing an Announcement that would break down the internet, announcements that would shake the earth, 20 Anniversary - Crash Return? Shenmue ? Dragons Dogma 2, Verendus and his Avater Bet,

Damm that Thread was beyond insane....

Verendus also double downed on Yakuza localisation back when Nagoshi was all "nah, too busy to make it happen, sorry."

Yes, Verendus doesn't have ntkrl's track record (yet), but he's been accurate enough that it's more than just random dart throws.

This.

Which one? This year?

Weren't there actually multiple PSX threads?

Damm that Thread was beyond insane....

PSX was a good, necessary lesson in hype management.

Especially since one of the journalist tweets that hyped one of the announcement was the Yakuza announcement.

It's good for people to realise that one person's megaton/legit hype announcement is another's trash. I mean, we've got folks who expect nothing less than Shenmue 3 or whatever calibre gigatons.

Okay, so I'm fairly sure this is nothing, but due to us all being in E3 mode, I'm posting this here for good measure. The tweet comes from a developer for Sony Bend (who is rumored to be making a new game) and they were the developers of Resistance: Retribution for PSP (which is the item in the image). Crazy speculation time: What if Sony Bend now holds the keys to the Resistance franchise and are bringing it to PS4? I'd be okay with that.

Atleast i learned my lesson. Never been that hyped for a conference and never been that dissapointed

I feel like that's a bit of a stretch.

Here's something. Koei Tecmo filed an application to renew their trademark for Ni-Oh on April 10. Trademark Bot tweeted it out today: https://twitter.com/trademark_bot/status/602064940120289280

Ni-Oh was announced for PS3 in 2005, but went in hiding. As of six months ago, the game is still "very much in development."

Maybe we'll see this at E3 as another Wii U pickup a la Devil's Third? Or maybe it's gone to PlayStation 4?

Team Ninja is developing it.

Edit: Also, while we're talking about trademarks, I mentioned this earlier in the thread:

Square Enix refiled its Star Ocean trademark yesterday: https://www.tmdn.org/tmview/get-detail?st13=EM500000014104996

Hopefully we'll get confirmation of the English version at E3 then.

Also, there's a trademark for Realms of Revelation (Dragon Quest VI): https://www.tmdn.org/tmview/get-detail?st13=EM500000014094908

Maybe the smartphone version will be on display, too.

Well, obviously. It's just this is the time of the year were very tweet (even innocuous ones) from developers are over examined. Though, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were handed the keys to the Resistance franchise one day. Insomniac seems to have no new interest in it and Bend did a really good job with the PSP game. The only other dev to make a Resistance game was Nihilistic and that game was not all that good (nor was their Call of Duty Vita game), plus they don't really exist anymore. I think they changed names and switched to mobile only.

maybe not PS4, but something Vita related. is it available to play on Vita yet?

*edit*

it is. ignore me

I wouldn't mind an actual remake that is playable on both Vita and PS4. It was a fun game. I loved the aesthetics they borrowed from Resistance: Fall of Man, primarily the stark map sequences. Having said that, I'd also like to see their Syphon Filter PSP duology get the same treatment. They were masters of the PSP. Their games felt like you had a second thumbstick, when in fact the PSP had that one little nub.

Bend's just bragging because they made the best Resistance game, as they should.

Really hope we a see teaser for their new game.

I'm betting that L4D3 is going to show up, in some way.

Valve can't possibly not show up at E3, right?

Right?

Guys?

...

Well, remember that Gabe Newell showed up to Sony's press conference in 2010 to announce Portal 2 and Steamworks were coming to PS3, so it's not unprecedented.

The way Valve operates nowadays, it would surprise me if they did something like that.

I'm still recovering from that thread. My PlayStation was shook that day. I'm going into E3 expecting nothing.

We already know they're making an open-world horror game (as per shinobi).

If anyone deserves the chance to make a new IP, it's them.

I cant wait for a lot of games to be shown that will look amazing, only to have a graphical downgrade for optimization after them come out 3 years from now...

And then the other games that were supposed to come out are delayed again.

I have come to think of it from a different perspective. Whatever trailer they show for whatever game, I will look for how the game plays and what its story is about rather than what it looks like graphically, for the graphics I will just assume they are a concept only, and will look different when the game is out in the future. This way I am not dissapointed by any graphical downgrades.

Yeah i was wondering about that game too, the premises sounded incredible: an action-rpg set in feudal japan based on an unfinished script by Kurosawa? Allofmymoney.jpg
But of course the game could have changed so much, who knows...

But i guess it would be more of a TGS game, unless it's one of Sony's secret Fall titles.

I really liked Resistance trilogy and hope Sony revisits it, but Bend should get a fresh start with a new IP.

As I typed that I just thought about how hard Ready At Dawn crashed when given a similar opportunity to step up from portable games.

I agree. As much I like the Resistance games, Bend really do deserve the chance at something new after developing interquels in existing series for quite a few years.

PSX thread was so ridiculous. So much hype and it didn't deliver at all.

At least E3 hype seems a lot more grounded this time.

Well to be fair if Street Fighter 5 had not gotten leaked that would have been a massive reveal worthy of the show IMO.

PSX is more of fan service thing than a trade show regardless.

haven't been following the thread, what's the popular rumour going around? i mean last time project beast was all the talk for example

Don't know if "popular" but this guy kept saying TLG is going to be at this E3. He was vetted by the mods, but got banned for constant teasing.

I've been thinking about this a lot and I'm pretty sure Nintedo will have the "amiibo game"at E3 this year and It will be a holiday title.

I don't ask much from this E3.

I'll be happy with some P5 gameplay with a 2015 US release date and Animal Crossing for Wii U announcement.

Everything else will be a +.

so that guy from twitter that seems to be popular with some neogafers that was talking about The Uncharted Remasters, maybe you guys talked about it ? So that guy said he had allot of news about this E3 and he will leak before E3, is he legit ? That guy gets retweeted allot

Hm... I think ntkrl's record will remain the golden standard of sorts, it is quite lofty.

Nah, CBOAT's the best. ntkrnl may've been more accurate overall and CBOAT's last few leaks may've been fake but he had a much longer track record and his leaks were huge.

I can't believe KAL2006 is seriously looking at the list of Verendus' leaks and crying "coincidence!" though. May as well clamp his hands around his ears and scream, "not listening! Not listening!" If Verendus were just making up a bunch of vague predictions, he'd be perma-banned by now.

PSX thread was so ridiculous. So much hype and it didn't deliver at all.

That thread was so dumb. I bailed out of it as soon as it got batshit crazy. I don't understand how anyone goes into any conference these days with incredibly high expectations, you're always going to end up disappointed.

Won't be at E3.

The game at all, you mean? They will show nothing? That seems hard to believe. There needs to be something shown; it's their biggest upcoming/announced title, it can't just be absent.

Also, I hope they plan on announcing a lot more titles for the holiday season. Xenoblade X seems great and I am super pumped for it, but I am hoping for a late Summer release on it, and have no idea what WiiU owners are supposed to look forward to over the holidays, except for maybe Yoshi's Wooly World.

I think this makes a LOT of sense. However, amiibo weren't conceived until late 2013 (source) and apparently not put into Smash until the end of development (so early-mid 2014; source). That means total development for an amiibo project releasing this holiday would likely be 1.5-2 years at most, assuming they started designing a game as soon as the product concept was semi-finalized. However, it's also been clear that the products have been more successful than Nintendo predicted, so I'd guess amiibo compatibility and amiibo-focused projects got a big internal push after November 2014's launch. This means it's possible that Nintendo didn't think the product would be worth designing a big title around (as opposed to amiibo tap) until they saw the sales. So...I wouldn't be surprised if a title were announced this E3. However, unless it's not very ambitious, then I think chances are lower (though not zero) that it releases this holiday. It would be good if it did though, and considering that most of Splatoon's development happened in 11 months, maybe it's possible.

Yep. Nintendo has officially said the game won't be there (source). They could make it a surprise, but until that happens, I wouldn't count on it. Better to be surprised than disappointed when they already warned everyone.

The 2nd half of 2015 Nintendo titles (North American dates) so far are: Yoshi's Woolly World (Fall), Mario Maker (September), Devil's Third, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox, and Fatal Frame V. I think it's likely Nintendo could announce one more big-ish Wii U game for the holidays, but with the way they presented XCX in its direct/livestream (comparing it to Metroid and Zelda), they're trying to hype it up as a big title. As a result, I wouldn't be surprised if it and Star Fox get the Wii U spotlight this year.

Yes, Zelda will skip this year E3

Thanks for the link. That's a shame. I get the feeling we're not hearing the whole story with what's going on with it, but oh well.

I hope they at least hint at Animal Crossing U or another big 2015 title. I am very excited for XCX, but not nearly as excited for any of the other titles (maybe Fatal Frame?). WiiU does feel like it's winding down :/
