The last great Hideki Kamiya was Okami, none of his other games have the same charm. I got bored with his other games.

Scalebound could be different just because I have an obsession with Dragons. But my concern is this is the first time they worked with a western publishers and Microsoft are known to be overbearing and might get a game they want not what Kamiya envisioned.

W101 has a ton of charm. Then again, I always found the style of Okami great, but mechanically it is one of his lesser creations I feel.

I have no idea whether or not Scalebound is character action or more action adventure, but I can't wait to find out. Both would be fine with me to be honest.

If I had a time machine, I wouldn't waste its mighty powers telling Sony what to do. I'd make vague teases on GAF about what video games are coming out.

Let's talk about Japan Studios. "I didn't hear good things about them?" No, I played Knack, that is to say I suffered the indignity of playing Knack. It fucking sucks. It had to be obvious during development that it was not at all good. And no, I don't want these people fired; I want them to make games that I like. Example: I don't like Animal Crossing. I want that team to stop and make something else. Animal Crossing team makes Splatoon. I'm happy. I would like Japan Studios to do the same thing. They probably will eventually, hopefully. Gravity Rush 2 probably exists. Hopefully it's better than the last one.

So if they're not going to fire anyone at Evolution or Japan Studio, how exactly would they use the money spent on Knack or Driveclub on other games? Make their staff work for free?

Knack was already explained by Verendus, but I'll also point out that it was a launch title. Being rushed to make launch never helps any game, while cancelling it would've hurt the launch lineup.

Funding. I used Platinum as an example because it was mentioned earlier in the thread. As I said, I think it's great that Sony funded a From game. They should keep doing that, and they appear to be with Bloodborne DLC. I also like that they're allegedly pushing Japanese developers to make PS4 versions of games. Great stuff. But the first party games have been weak. They need to step it up. Well, no they don't because they've sold so many consoles, but it would be nice if they stepped it up.

Well do you think Sony's first party studios are just sitting around doing nothing? Remember, it wasn't until 2009 that Sony's first party studios really started hitting hard on PS3. I doubt people would complain about this if Sony adopted their old strategy (the current Microsoft strategy) of announcing games way too early.

As for Platinum fans being unbearable, it's annoying seeing everyone ignore the most mechanically sharp games on the planet in favor of whatever games that play okay. Especially on a hardcore forum like this one. At least it has gotten better from the days of God Hand.

You're going to try and play this card after Bayonetta 2 won GAF GOTY last year?

I'm actually wondering if FROM even still has a mecha team, or have they been folded into two teams of Souls/Blood.

A lot of Armored Core staff worked on Dark Souls 2 but looking at what their positions were, I get the impression it was a temporary move to rush it out on schedule. DS2 did have a few development issues, after all.

Guys at this time next week. We will be getting ready to hopefully be filled with joy.

The coming week will be crazy. Tons of devs and publishers tweeting and showing pics of them arriving at E3, photos of the show floor being set up. I love the lead up to E3 each year.

Next Sunday we'll be watching the Bethesda conference which imo is a great way to kinda kick things off. Then on Monday we have the gauntlet of press conferences and I just can't wait to see what everyone has been working on.

After that we digest what we've seen and then we still have SE and Nintendo the following day. Should be tons of fun guys.

Monday and Tuesday will be great. I'll watch Bethesda on Monday morning as its conference is not exactly at a European friendly time. That and I don't really care for Fallout. I do want to see the Doom gameplay though and Dishonored 2 would be nice.

Basically, this generation sucks. This is why mobile is the future! You're all behind the curve.

Thanks for responding. Preparing myself for the PlayStation 5 to be a phone with an HDMI out.

Okami is his weakest game mechanically. Very charming, though. My initial impression of Scalebound, from nothing but a CG trailer so this is not at all valuable, was that it would be similar to Okami: simplistic gameplay, but with the other elements pumped up to a ridiculously good level.

And I'm sure we'll hear if Microsoft fucks with the game, given how outspoken Kamiya is.

Hey Verendus, quick question.

Does Sony ever listen to Gaf?
Short answer, kind of. If you're referring specifically to GAF. It's not so much as listens, as much as a lot of senior management at Sony is very aware of social media, and the kind of impact that it can have. It's a powerful tool. There are a lot of people who use Twitter, and some of the less technical savvy guys who are there, definitely get a kick out of it.

There's a strong sentiment that places like GAF, or other core communities on the internet, don't affect much in the grand scheme of things, but the truth is, it's not an either-or situation. There are different demographics, different targets, and ultimately, everything has to be considered. GAF isn't an easy thing to listen to in the sense of being able to bring together a strong analysis, which gives a real good indication of something. The format is different, collecting data would be difficult, and Twitter is a lot easier for that kind of analysis. That's also why there tends to be a lot of focus on those kind of things, such as the # campaigns. It's easier to get a lot of involvement for that kind of aspect. But forums are still definitely looked at, and there are people who do that kind of stuff, and report it back. What happens with that data is different matter.

It should be pretty apparent that there's a lot of awareness about social media, and core gaming communities, since SCE's current image isn't an accident. But there are definitely a lot of people who are aware of GAF itself, and the kind of things that happen on it. Whether that's reactions to certain things, or just general crazy stuff. I can tell you Andrew House saw the whole Kazification thing where everyone went bonkers, because that was just hilarious on so many levels for a lot of people, and there's always a keen interest to see the reaction of core communities to certain things.

Hi Verendus, What can you tell us about Sony acquiring new studios apart from the very recent 'sorcery' one? Would Sony ever consider acquiring Quantic Dream, Hello games or others? What are your thoughts on that?

How well did Tokyo Jungle do? I'd love to see a sequel to that for PS4 or Vita, such a fantastic game that seems to have a bit of a following.

Kyoto Jungle, please.

Would break my heart. MS only has to look at Bloodborne's success to see that you don't have to dumb down Japanese exclusives.

I guess we'll find out soon enough. But for me it's probably the single most intruiging question at E3. What kind of game is Scalebound and how does it play?

Second time feeling like Yamcha in two days. Obviously, a sign. I'll bail out now. I'll see you in a few weeks after you're all disappointed with E3. I'll be that shoulder you can cry on. We'll see who's laughing then.

May the delayathon be with you.

Verendus, who do you think is going to win Money in the Bank this year?
Roman Reigns.

Balee dat.

Do you play WWE? How good are you? Were you as upset as I was when they removed match customisation? Do you wish they would allow us to customise the ever loving hell out the match we wanted, by making it a Fatal 4-Way HIAC Elimination Last Man Standing match? Why does Yukes hate wrestling game fans?

Do you like X-Men Legends? Do you wish for X-Men Legends 3?

Edit:

Also, fuck 2K Sports. And Jay Z.

A proper adaption of Berserk.

=)

Oh man.

It's really heartbreaking since you can see so much of its influence in FROM's games and in a lot of other work as well. Berserk has easily one of the best realized fictional dark-fantasy universes out there and would work perfectly as a game, and I can think of a handful of devs capable to do the manga justice.

But the thing is: most people don't know about it, the story is far from finished and - the worst part - the creator doesn't seem to give much fucks anymore, and you can't even blame him since there are already so many chapters out since 20+ years.

That's why I appreciate FROM Software showing so much love for Berserk.

You're making it sound like I have a vendetta against these teams and want them thrown out on the street because I hate their games. That's not true, and sorry if it came across like that. I just like other stuff way more and would rather see that from Sony, especially since they've been so successful.

I don't think delaying or cancelling Knack would have had any impact on the success of the PS4 launch, but that's with the benefit of hindsight.

Let me boil down everything I'm trying to say: I think Sony's first party lineup on the PS4 so far has been pretty bad, and I wish they had made some different choices. Hopefully they will do better in the future, and, historically, Sony's first party games have significantly improved as the generation has continued. I am cautiously optimistic and looking forward to E3.

Anyway, fair point on Bayonetta 2 being well received on GAF. However, it losing GOTY on hardcore gaming sites to stuff like Mordor, which has a QTE final boss and is basically an overplayed Ubisoft openworld game, irked me. Especially since it was usually the case of people on staff just not playing it, despite it getting a perfect review on said website. Whatever. Stop liking what I don't like, etc.

Typical Madden-itis. Lack of competition gives no motivation to seriously improve. It's not like Yuke's nor 2K have any challengers. Fire Pro is too niche and has been dead for years. NBA Live? Lol.

The last good WWE games were WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It and SvR 2006. I wasted so much time on SvR just playing 8 man modes and wreaking havoc with my Create-A-Wrestler. Sadly that fun time came to an end when I smashed my PSP after losing a 1v1 to Triple H when he countered my finisher into a Pedigree. I was a kid back then, but man, fuck Triple H.

Short answer, kind of

Well we should start making polls then so people can vote here on neogaf for what needs to be done and that way Sony gets the analysis they want. Anything to get what we want and so you guys can't stop making horrible decisions like wonderbook. IMO

Yuke's must be stopped. I miss the days of every console having its own unique wrasslin' game.

I still bought 2K15.

Or maybe ppl on those sites liked the other games more . I can think a game is excellent but still prefer others ... Your opinion of bayonetta != everyone's

Oh man.

It's really heartbreaking since you can see so much of its influence in FROM's games and in a lot of other work as well. Berserk has easily one of the best realized fictional dark-fantasy universes out there and would work perfectly as a game, and I can think of a handful of devs capable to do the manga justice.

I see the rational evolution of the Souls games, is to basically move beyond visual and atmospheric influence, but rather to encapsulate all the emotions that Berserk creates as a storytelling medium, but into a game.

Souls has always reflected, imo, the adventure and moment-to-moment parts of the "Black Swordsman" part of Berserk, with Guts basically adventuring through the shit-fest world of Berserk killing Apostles.

And even then it's only parts of it, because the limited storytelling aspects of Souls means that we don't get to be an invested in the struggle of Guts as personally, because it's a different approach.

But Souls games hasn't captured the 'once-a-great-era' grandeur of the Golden Age, or the downright harrowing moments that was there in the Eclipse or the last parts of the Rebirth. Aspects of Golden Age/Eclipse are often teased in Souls games, via story logs, but it's always something that we infer from the existing slate of the world, but never something we actually see for ourselves.

I would just hope someone somwhere in this universe would tease, leak anything about Media Molecule's game. But I guess that ain't happening. :(

One week left! Excited!

Yep, I can't believe how time flew by so fast.

Me after E3, when TLG fails to show

Oh yeah. I could see that for some people here.

So what's rounding off the top six? Uncharted 4, Doom 4, Metal Gear Solid V, ermmmm... The Last Guardian? Can't think of anything else.

Here's a hint! I'm going to have 7 GIFS so have fun to figure out 7 games.

The first footage of Metroid Prime 4 will be shown through an IntelliHeath gif

I would love that to happens! Imagine the hype.

TLG has to be the "1 day" game
BELIEVE

Ack, I knew that I forget something. ;)
