EA announced Battlefield 6 will be revealed in June as a true next-generation game

No trailer yet and they are already bullshitting us. Fucking wrap this up.

Lol at that Geoff tweet. Wilson telling you the trailer is amazing is akin to a guy smelling his own shit.

Crazy how much gamers like to bitch and moan nowadays.

People feel entitled just because they didn't get the trailer on the week they were expecting it lmao even though the actual developers never officially announced it for that week or that the game would be NextGen only.

I'm still hopeful for the game, but the buzz words about being a true next gen title tone down my excitement a little bit. I'd much prefer a confident statement that it is cross gen and will really shine on next gen. Feeling the need to use buzzwords that sound fake to me suggests they are not confident in what they are offering in my opinion.

"As a true next-generation game" just sounds like marketing tbh.

Had he said exclusive to current gen consoles that would've alleviated some doubt I think.
Would not be surprised to see this end up being cross-gen.

Best post of the Thread !

The next gen/cross gen boils down to crossplay.

If there are two versions of the game like BF4 one for XB1/PS4 and another for XSX/PS5 then that's probably ok as long as they don't decide support crossplay across gen's.

Crossplay across generations implies that all the players see the same destruction, physics, player counts, levels, etc. In a multiplayer game, the playing field has to be level for the systems. The nextgen one is severely gimped in this scenario, a polished turd if you will.

Can't wait to see this running on the original Xbone ....
they should make xsx/ps5/pc crossplay ala CoD MW, then let the last geners fend for themselves

For real, some random cunt on Twitter declares a reveal date, random YouTubers roll with it and all of a sudden EA DICE is on the hook for not making that timetable.... What?

Battlefield for clowned for showing respect to the world wars and yet everyone still played those games those wars have fuel for next gen of course but it's great to see modern warfare return.

Could you edit this so it makes more sense? It's like 4 sentences mushed together.

Damn i miss those days when marketing in the gaming industry was full of surprises. Nowadays it's always the same business suits talking bullshit predictable till to every last word. Except devoler, god bless them and thier press conferences.

I don't give a crap about the trailer lol, for all I care they can end the franchise, it's been downhill for them after releasing BF3.

Feel free to be excited at EA's own CEO marveling at the trailer or eating up buzzwords that don't mean shit.

Pick one, can't be both

Well....maybe.

From what we've heard rumored, they have another team working on the last gen version, so it can be both.

As in...the last gen version doesn't have the features that the next gen version has, similar to BF4. That was one of the few cross gen games that legit had a lot of significant differences across platforms that simply wasn't JUST a resolution and frame difference or something. For all we know, that is what they are talking about.

If it features something like different destruction, 128 player count for MP and all the other fancy tech features DICE will use on next gen, then I think its fair to argue it would be a true next gen title for them.

Next gen doesn't mean, zero last gen version or something. For all we know, what they put out on PS5 and Series X, might be exactly what they'd put out if they never had a PS4 or XONE version or something, espeically if you consider they are not even making the last gen version ,another team is. (rumored), so who knows. I think they will do great with the hardware given and if its anything like how they did with BF4 in terms of tech and features, I think we will be ok.

With leaks and rumors flying around the anticipated release of Battlefield 6, such as massive destruction, extreme weather events, and massive player count, it's time to go back to Battlefield 3, 4, and Bad Company 2 to see how these mechanics have played out in the past and if they are good or bad ideas in a next-gen title.

Battlefield 6 is confirmed to release sometime between October and December this year. It's scheduled to be revealed in June, and we'll likely get a more in-depth look during EA Play on July 22. There have been a number of leaks and rumors lately such as the next game having highly destructible cities, extreme weather events, giant rockets, Osprey aircraft, and a near-future setting that includes drones and Boston Dynamics robots. While we can't currently confirm any of this, what we can do is go back to older Battlefield titles set in modern times to see if these ideas could be good or bad for the series.
It's hard to believe that it's been seven years since the last DLC, Final Stand, dropped for a contemporary Battlefield. In this video, we're going back to Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and even Hardline to see what parts of those games could be built on for the next game and what ideas should not be included.

There have been more recent announcements from an investor call including the fact that Battlefield 6 will be on last-gen consoles as well as the current PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The investor call also included revelations such as the next-gen versions of the game potentially having higher player counts, more advanced physics, and more destruction. Battlefield 6 is currently being worked on by four studios including DICE, DICE LA, Criterion, and EA Gothenburg. Stay close to GameSpot for incoming announcements on the next Battlefield game.
