Yes, and right for that they were the same game, same gameplay, same all, aside graphics and some numbers.
Now we have a cpu that is eons above jaguar, and that alone could allow complex destruction and interactions, but next gen versions will be limited to do what old gen manage to do.
And they say they want to support this game for 3 - 4 years...

I must admit that, while it was difficult to think that EA would scrap last gen, I did hope that they would do the bold move to release a surprising, industry shattering, proper next gen BF, to regain the hearts of the millions of gamers lost to CoD or others after BF5 fiasco.
But I suppose that there are very few people in charge of Software Houses that are able to dare something bold.
It's just the same old investors lines shit as usual.

Those expecting papa EA to release next gen only version need a reality check. With all the shortages, what do you expect the installbase to be of PS5/XSX when this game comes out?
Hell I wouldn't even blame papa EA, it would be financial suicide and the game would be considered a failure even if it was great. That said, I do expect two different teams working on last gen and next gen version and hope to see big difference.

But that also means it was scaled down. The maps were made smaller as were the player counts. And of course 30fps and lower settings.

I dont understand all the hate for games coming to both current and next gen.
You can take any game that is "true" next gen only and make it run on last gen.
Its not a current gen game with a enhancement patch for next gen.
This is especially true for games coming to PC aswell.
The time when a new generation of consoles made a huge leap that enabled games that was impossible on last gen are gone.

Everyone told them before BFV that they should launch their BR as a standalone F2P thing with a huge player count and some bonuses for buying the actual game. Instead they released a half baked 64 player turd that barely worked and was never meaningfully improved. And then COD went and did exactly what everyone told EA to do with Warzone. But hey at least BFV gave us a modern take on classics such as D-Day, Stalingrad, Battle of the Bulge, Kursk, and the Fall of Berlin... oh wait. It's hard for me to get over just how badly they bungled the whole BFV operation.
I'm sure the trailer is going to be badass. Hopefully they'll deliver this time around but I can't get hyped how I used to for Battlefield. This is mostly DICE proper right? Not the DICE LA that they got Zampella running? Should've just handed the franchise over to Vince once BFV flopped.

I don't want crossplay with PC and their cheater problem because of no good anticheat, a lot better performance or people playing on low settings without shadows, no grass etc.
Also M&K.
So yeah, no PC for me thanks. They could implement an option for people if they want to play with their PC buddies but please don't make it mandatory.
