I can't wait for the Doughboys meltdown in a few weeks when Tom Brady supporting Trump comes up. Mitch is such a sensitive boy.

Man I like going in from the beginning Dough Boys after listening to the episode with Sean and Hayes but fuck they eat directly into the mic in like half these episode so far. It's a testament to how good the rest of the show is because the sound of people chewing on food piped into my ears is maddening.

HDTGM has kind of gotten stale to me for some reason. I dunno if it's the movie selection or that their tone on how the go at the movies has changed or what. The show just seems different to me anymore and I don't really look forward to it as much.

It's the lack of June, all the best parts revolve around her.

Mantzoukas is a terrible guest on CBB and heynongman was the beginning of the end for me listening to that show.

Just can't do it anymore, something broke in my head.
Mantzoukas is great on CBB. He's great at pushing the limits of people like Andy Daly by backing them into corners with his questions and really grilling them on their logic gaps and contradictory statements.

If you find constantly backing into corners funny then sure, I just find it exhausting.

It doesn't work unless the person he's doing it to is on the level of Andy Daly. But when the person is that good, the shit they come up with to explain themselves is gold.

I don't really like Mantzoukas on other podcasts other than HDTGM. There I said it.

You are bonkers.

You're a straight-up garbage person.

Mantzoukas is one of my favorite recurring CBB guests.

My favorite part of PFT on CBB is hearing him lose his shit in the background

Yup! That and the fact that he constantly calls Scott out and is generally contrarian.

I feel the same. I think they are kind of tired of doing it, too.

For me, June and Jason as easily the reason I listen. I think they are great, I love to hear their thoughts. I really don't think Paul is that funny and the way he talks has always kind of irritated me. His ad-reads are THE WORST. Since June has been gone so much, the show just hasn't had the same appeal.

You guys, I miss June.

Ah already covered.

The Mantzoukas Daly episodes are the best of the show.

He's also the best guest on Gilmore Guys, he'll go dirty like none of the other guests will and drag Kevin to the dark side with him.

Yeah that was gold in the latest.

Mantzoukas is great on CBB because he stands strong against shitty showtunes.

I actually started not liking him because of Gilmore Guys. Incredibly one note.

Although I did like him on this most recent CBB.

It's the 2nd anniversary of With Special guest Lauren Lapkus this week and she celebrates it with a very weird and silly episode with PFT and Scotty Auks. Worth listening to for all you CBB fans.

And it'll be gone until March :/

I've found myself losing interest in Spontaneanation. I feel like too often the performers are pulling the improv in too many random disparate directions. I just start tuning out.

Lin Manuel Miranda was on Maron this week. It's a fun listen since Lin's a fan of the show already so they easily get into a rhythm together pretty quickly.

Maria Thayer was impressively uninvolved in that latest Comedy Bang Bang.

SOLO BOLO CUATROLO is out! The most fun podcast every year! LOTS more singing!
Ew. I might not even listen to this one.

I had to quit listening to the latest How Did This Get Made because the guest woman had such an obnoxious laugh.

Uh oh. I had to do that for the Can't Stop the Music episode when it was Cameron Esposito and Pete Holmes trying to out scream each other. Its the only episode I haven't listened to completely.

I've been really digging Jon Gabrus podcast recently. I was reluctant to get into it since I was like "how many podcasts of mid level white dude comedians shooting the shit do I really need to listen to" but it's actually a really good show. The focus on one topic that Jon and the guests are into keeps it pretty light and fun, and Gabrus is hilarious.

hilarious Doughboys at Hooters today, the past dozen or so eps have been mostly just okay (exceptions: Jessica McKenna, Sean and Hayes) but they have a fantastic rapport with Kulap. And Mitch was especially funny
"Mitch, your thoughts." "...Listen, I love the female form—" "Oh my god."

Was there ever any backlash to Kulap Vilaysak never finishing her documentary which she schilled so hard for on Kickstarter? Or is KS backlash more of a videogame thing?

Isn't it still coming out eventually? I thought she just put it on pause because of B$P. Feel like she talked about it on an earwolf show this year, Spontaneanation maybe?

It still sucks for donators to have to wait that long, but I think that's just an unfortunate built-in feature of creative crowdfunding. Like when Deakin of animal collective funded a solo album—it took a long time but in the end it seemed like the guy was legitimately just making sure the music was actually good and having to fit work on it between other projects. Bet that's what's happening here, to some degree

The fact that June loves Grease 2 is amazing, but I can't help but feel there's a weird lack of energy to the episode. I think Anna Faris isn't a great guest. For some reason they recorded at her house and she really didn't add much. I don't think they gelled. Shame.

The HDGM crew were all on her podcast that they recorded at her house, so this was probably the second podcast they were recording in a row which would maybe explain why they were low energy.

Speaking of the HDTGM crew, I just watched some of the Chris Gethard show from the Fusion network on Youtube (the same network that ran PFT's show)

Paul Scheer and Jason Manzoukas were on the show for an amazing episode which was a lot fun to watch.

Here is the link https://youtu.be/Nwi_kE0gy94

Its a call in show with a mystery so it really is best to avoid spoilers as there is a fun pay off at the end, try not to skip ahead as its a great ride! Dont read the comments...

I havent listened to many earwolf shows lately, I might jump back into CBB and HDTGM in the new year. Im newly subsrcibed to Never Not Funny and loving their banter and the extra show a week with the subscription is good value.

Are people here listening to any of the Howl shows? Is it worth subscribing to?
I have been considering getting it but not sure if its worth a monthly subscription, the way they launched it seemed messed up and I havent really given it a chance since then, but if its a good service I might give it a shot. There is some NNF back catalogue on there, and some Matt Gourley and Andy Daly shows that look fun.

She was born November 29 so she really was celebrating her birthday. She sounded high and/or drunk, especially towards the end. I didn't mind, I thought it was amusing when she told Jason she was bored at the end like she forgot they were recording a podcast lol. June's passion for Grease 2 is inspiring.

There's a lot of excellent Howl-exclusive stuff. The 2016 CBB tour is worth the sub alone. PFT, Lauren Lapkus and Neil Campbell are in top form and Mike Hanford has some great stuff, too. I think it's some of the best CBB stuff ever recorded. The Teacher's Lounge by Big Grande is one of the funniest podcasts ever. The Comple Woman and Wild Horses: The Perspective are also great fun. Superego is awesome if you haven't heard it but start with Season 2 and 3 and go back to 1 if you like it. Superego: Forgetten Classics is hilarious, too, The Red Badge of Courage episode is a masterpiece.

The Mysterious Secret's of Uncle Bertie's Botinarium starts really strong and then just kind of petered out for me after a few episodes. I'm an Andy Daly mega-fan and I honestly didn't think Hoot Gibson: Vegas Cowboy was very funny...

Of course, there's loads more you might like, including tons of stand-up comedy albums and old CBB live shows.

Just do the one month free trial by signing up with the offer code Handbook (*wink*) at Howl.fm. You can pretty much listen to everything good inside the trial period because a lot of these shows are short miniseries. Otherwise, it's just $4/mo and you can cancel when you are satisfied and re-sub for a month when it gets a backlog of new stuff.

I forgot about the CBB tour! That settled it, I've signed up with a trial code, the app seems fine on android so far. Loads to listen to now, very exciting. Thanks for the reply!

I really liked First Comes Love on Howl, but I think they only did three episodes and the third one had a bunch of repeated stories. There wasn't enough context and information for the shows when I was subscribed.

Nice! The live HDTGM eps at Largo next week is Highlander 2 and Escape From LA. I just professed my love for Escape From LA in a different thread earlier today.

This Christmas episode is amazing. The 9/11 joke, oh god. Lol.

It's a cream-dream episode. I just wish Lauren Lapkus had been on it, she was the only one missing. And it would have been like an encore of the tour cast.

Speaking of Lapkus, what is she up to? There hasn't been any new episodes of With Special Guest for weeks now.

This week's Hollywood Handbook is a classic. Tom Scharpling is hilarious, Best Show was great with Hayes on this week as well. Fucking Joe Ingles

It was a pretty terrible episode tbh. Anna seemed too drunkhigh to be on a podcast. Even Jason didn't seem to have much to say.

She said in the 100th episode it'd be on break until March, IIRC, because she's out of the country shooting something. I assume it's Holmes and Watson, the Sherlock comedy with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.

Haven't listened yet, but i4h has a Christmas ep with Armen! I just listened to last year's the other day.

Last year's was one of the funniest podcasts I've ever heard. That Whiplash episode was amazing too. Exited for this one, it's got The Spoonman on it too.
