It was interesting to learn about something so obscure. The only disappointing thing about the Game Sleuth episode was that
the conclusion was pretty much "these are the codes we found on GameFAQs, so there you go!" But sometimes shows like this are bound to have disappointing end results. Thankfully the actual research part is usually pretty entertaining, too.

How do you mean streamline? Like link to it somewhere?

There's an automated upload thing from Twitch highlights to YouTube, which I assume Blood is using then adding a thumbnail and description. You just set the highlight to edit, then send it. I don't think the upload process can be streamlined more, unless there was a way to do the thumbnails and everything from there.
I meant make it completely autonomous, so people can watch it on Youtube as soon as the video finishes uploading immediately after the stream end.

Same problem with scientific research which can be demoralizing. We've tried something new but we didn't find anything new nor improved on what's already there.

If for no other reason, we wouldn't want to do that simply because we couldn't trim the edges. The raw file will often have 10 minutes of just "starting soon" on it.
EDIT: That said, there's not a way and it would still take time to process.

Theoretically, you could use two streams in XSplit and stream to an unlisted feed on YouTube at the same time or use something like http://restream.io for the same thing which then wouldn't use twice the bandwidth.

Bloodworth, just to make sure you aren't spending time doing unnecessary re-encoding. You are just using a mp4 editor/splicer (no re-encoding) to do the necessary edits after downloading the twitch streams and uploading that to YT right?

I'm not downloading at all. Twitch has a highlight and export feature. It's way faster than trying to reupload, especially for stuff that stretches 2 hours and above.
EDIT: To be clear - by export, I mean it sends it directly from Twitch's video manager to your connected YouTube account.

It's Pie and Beans. All his posts are like that, so I would recommend putting him on ignore.
Yea there's some people that seem to treat this thread more as a complaint line than a community forum. I'm assuming people that post here are fans. It's fine to mix in both complaint/constructive feedback with things you enjoyed.

There's some chatter that they don't respond to feed back. Which I disagree as I can site numerous instances where they've made changes. But regardless of that, how you present your feedback as well as how often things are scewed one way can easy play a role in its effectiveness. I know I've started to gloss over some because it's always something and it's hard for me to take them seriously. I try not to. I won't put people on ignore as I find that silly but people's post history accumulates in these long running threads.

The "new" camera is a huge step up in quality, wish they'd be more on the ball with that kind of stuff...better late than never, I guess!

As for Game Sleuth -- I imagine it's tough to put together that kind of a show nowadays and it doesn't really seem like Damiani wants to work on it, seems more like a burden to him. I do wonder how many people would be upset if they scrapped it all together.

Well the trouble is that since we got the new camera, we've had our eye on a device that's been notoriously out of stock. We finally just got tired of waiting and Damiani and Ian went with another solution for the interim.

Group stream feedback and impressions coming! The camera set up was finally perfect. Please use that for future streams! The tournament and commentary around it were lots of fun, even though I'm not into sports games. Ben keeps being the best. Blood enjoying Kirby was cute, and the reactions to the grab bags were ace, lol. Honestly though, I got to say that Damiani's behaviour made me pause, he got so salty he left the room to play MK8 by himself? Really? :/

Oh cool, that's good.

*staring at Captain Toad*

"What's Funhaus?"

As soon as I heard Funhaus mentioned I started a mental timer and waited for Kyle to ask that question. He didn't disappoint

as bloodworth mentioned, and something they've sort of commented on in passing (they never dive to much on their tech scene) it sounded like they knew the issue and was waiting for another part of some kind.

As for Game Sleuth, yea between some of damiani's musings as well as Jones in a recent Cup of Jones laying the groundwork that down the road there could be a time where there's a shuffling around in funded tiers it wouldn't surprise me. I'm not sure how I feel about that. The first two episodes were great. This latest one didn't do much for me. The research and background info was cool but it pales to the great GTA 5 one he did. But the Canadians from chat sure got a kick out it. I personally would like to see a couple more and then decide.

I love Game Sleuth but I said it in the past if Damiani doesn't have the passion for the show anymore he shouldn't do it. Doesn't matter if the Patreon falls a bit because of it in the long run it's likely for the better. I feel like stuff like that is kind of the point of Patreon empowering creative passions and if those passions don't align with your own interest anymore you can always change the level you support at or leave no hard feelings.

That said I also think the best point in time to always make changes like this are the anniversaries. I feel it just feels natural to use them as public markers for reexamination I think. It just feels better hearing about shows changing being replaced at that point in time vs having something happen in the mids of a year. But that's my personal take on it.

Also disagree hard on the point mario saying the allies have been bad at taking feedback and only have excuses. That doesn't align with my experience at all and honestly just read like petulant ramblings. Existence of Spoiler Mode, EZAnime and changes, changes to streaming and what types of content they're stream(like we're getting more duo and group allies full playthroughs), communication mistakes, etc etc I feel like there are countless examples that clearly show they're listening and trying to oblige if it's sensible/possible. They also don't just ignore things that aren't pretty like certain other groups no they tell you the reasons for why things are the way they are, if that's just an excuse I don't know, leave it I guess?

^^ Agreed on the feedback bit. You can see the changes from week to week. The allies have been super receptive and sensible regarding feedback and criticism.

I don't like the genre title "immersive sim" at all but I hadn't considered the point Brandon made in the podcast at all. That's a really good point and makes me dislike the title even more lol.

Great podcast this week.

Story Time turning into Podcasts is proof that they listen to feedback too. I def am very happy with the new podcasts and I think most people are too.

Listening to the new podcast and wanted to comment on the L&R about having no interest in a game.
And as childish as it is I totally get the side that's frustrated. Because sometimes games are that good that your initial impression/vibes/aversion might totally be subverted and you fall in love with those games.

I've had friends I've known for such a long time now and it's happened so many times they would tell me they're not into something until I somehow get them to try it for only them to fall in love with it. So "the general not for me" attitude in a weird way it comes off as narrow minded and somewhat dismissive.

But then I totally agree and get also the side that gets annoyed at people being assholes about it. Like don't do that.

As someone that has been on both sides I think the general attitude that goes over the best for the person that is getting persuaded is to show openness. Over the years I've found myself being able to enjoy a lot of things that I think I would not depending on the circumstances as well the opposite not enjoying things I thought I would because I was forcing it.

I just believe there's a game for every mood.

In essence I think rather than not for me "Not for me right now" feels better. It's what I did when GTA5 came out and to this day I haven't played it yet. The itch hasn't been strong enough. It might sound a bit dishonest but in a way for me it isn't just based on personal experience as mentioned, so I can totally see myself having a blast with a game someday that I just am not feeling right now.

Of course other people are more set in their ways I guess so to those people it might seem moot.

Who originally said that the MC of Persona 5 is too cool to be played? It was Kyle, wasn't it.

Did you actually have to ask?

I meant having just the uploading/exporting and processing time as the bottleneck. Again I don't mind it, I'm just thinking about the Plays channel schedule for people who never check Twitch.

Blood said in a further comment that he doesn't do any uploading and exporting, just uses the built in Twitch highlight transfer to YouTube.

Something completely out of left field to hook people. He was making the comparison in GT time that if they announced Back to the Future 4 now, it would probably look by the numbers. But if you add a DOC BROWNS SPIDER MONSTER, even if it's not good, you have peoples attention.

Not exactly perfect, there's still audio delay throughout the stream (even if chat accepted after they made it better it was still slightly off) and it got worse over time. Probably something about frame rate of the new camera and audio setup... Maybe the new equipment will help solving this?

And just to be nitpicky: when they resize for gameplay it gets really aliased. Maybe xsplit has something to smooth it out?

Overall it's way better and they're listening. I'm just striving for perfection lol

Can't comment on Game Sleuth because I haven't seen it live, but you guys are certainly makingt me curious.

Lol, yeah, I'll say that I was so used to the vaseline smear that I was blown away by the new set up. Of course it can still be improved, but in general they're getting much better at the technical stuff, they're clearly trying hard.

BTW - Can't agree with mario about feedback either. That's one thing the Allies are good at even though they take their time with changes. Jones does entire Cup of Jones about feedback, Ben is especially great about it, look how much he's changed in a year, it's mindblowing how better he is at everything he does, Blood is constantly here getting back at us, Kyle asked many times to send them feedback of any kind, Ian has just improved the camera set-up, Brad said in the past he appreciates feedback, etc.

HOLY SHIT I REMEMBER THAT DRAGON BOOSTER SHOW!

Anyway, good episode. Just as much work was put into the concept as the others so I don't really see a problem.

Watched Game Sleuth. It was underwhelming.

Now, I do like the video and I found the info and reasearch well presented as always, but it's such a uninteresting topic, one of the nichest games one could choose. I guess the one fan who asked for this ever since GT was a thing will be happy... but man after more than 6 months of wait time it's kind of a bummer. If Game Sleuth was monthly or bi-monthly I'd say whatever, cool episode about an obscure game, but thinking it may take another 6 months for another one... =/

Also, it's weird because Michael was lamenting the disheartening low views, but this episode definitely won't get the numbers up for the show.

Why is the new thing in the youtube comments that the EZA podcast doesn't have enough news?

There seems to be an uptick in complaints about the panel not devoting enough time to the news. Personally, I don't want EZA to be CNN. I don't get my news from EZA, I tune in to hear what they have to say and if it's not that much, so be it.

Making a fan happy is nice but it's not going to necessarily appeal to the masses. I was underwhelmed personally especially because I don't think anything was really proven or solved here but i at least do think it's nice that a promise to a fan was honored. But hey the yt comments seem positive so far so maybe more people will enjoy

Edit: oh I graduated to member :0 yay

I don't get it. The big things were hit and even the smaller things as future news, it was great.

It's difficult. Whilst it's probably only been about 6-7 years since the first Pop Fiction, the frequency that information/secrets is shared online has increased dramatically. I know secrets and pop-facts about games that I've never played and have no plans to play. A lot of these 'pop fictions' are just out there now.

It's not like in the past where we would have to wonder whether a secret was true because we had neither the time or resources to find out, we can just Youtube "secret in *game*" and find an HD Quality video proving it or not.

Whilst I agree that basing a video off the wishes of one fan is a little damaging in terms of views, I'd prefer that Damiani focused his efforts on niche (incredibly so, in this case) games/secrets than trying to "prove" that Diablo II has a secret Cow level.

This is why I like EZA being so personality driven over them being "professional" or whatever the complaint was earlier. By the time the podcast drops, I'm already ahead of the news & just want to hear what the panel of the week has to say. That, and the L&R section.

You'd think winning 90% of the time Damiani would be graceful in defeat, but he's such a terrible loser. "This game sucks". Just not bothering the second he realises he's going to lose. Pausing during a Huber attack to see if he can change controls.

He did something similar during that final ever Wii U stream in Mario Kart. The moment he fell behind he put the controller down and gave up.

Like a petulant little child.
