Think we'll book our flights soon, and hotels shortly afterward.

Any tips from EDC vets? Whether it's when to fly in or any random thing. Pretty sure we're planning on getting the shuttles from the hotel to the festival.

I haven't been but if you want to party before EDC I'd recommend going a few days before since it's EDC week, there's always a ton of club events going on. Personally I'm going to EDMBiz so I'll be flying in on the Monday.

From what my friend told me, you should try to leave 1-2 hours before the festival ends because last year it took something like four hours for some people to get back after the festival (if you waited until the end). I know some people ITT said the same thing.

Other things he told me are pretty common sense. Drink a lot of water (bring a camelbak ideally), wear really breathable clothes since it is in the desert afterall, things like that.

Yeah they just announced the shuttle passes. I have to figure out which one I'm gonna take since I'm not staying at one of these hotels.

Last year my crew went a little overboard for EDC week.

We did dayclub in the morning and then EDC at night then next morning repeat and every was pretty much dead by the time we got home (we talking about 16-20 hours of partying a day with 1-2 hour rest and 1-2 hour sleep). So yea I wouldn't recommend that unless your crew is straight up hard as fuck.

As for shuttle goes last year they let you take either the location you bought or The Linq to get to EDC. However on the way home you can take any shuttle you want.

Day 2-3 shuttle ran smooth day 1 shuttle was a nightmare. An absolute shit show. Linq had the most shuttle by far actually maybe even 4-5x more shuttle than some other locations so everyone quickly found out to use the Linq. Some of the smaller locations had only 1 or 2 shuttles (on day 1) so you would literally have to wait 1 hour for every 50 people.

As for the festival itself it was amazing usual festival rule applies. Bring gold bond, chap stick, water, comfortable clothes/shoes and a happy fucking attitude. The air out there at EDC is dry as fuck. So drink lots and lots of water. By day 3 you will know what I'm talking about it. First thing I did when I got back to Seattle was just breathe the beautiful ass air we have.

Good lord, that sounds hardcore lmao

It was suppose to be the last hurrah for most of us. Since getting old and you know marriage, family, responsibilities etc...Was amazing though.

If you can last till 6:00 AM do it! Too bad EDC doesn't have a "finale", but being there at sunrise on the last day was pretty dope. Sad I didn't buy any souvenirs though. I saw some of the limited snapback hats on Ebay for like $200+ when they were about $30 at EDC.

7UP had a stage last year, and gave out a lot of little free stuff. Oh and they are RIDES. The SWING OMGGGGGG

Just got back from a 3-hour Prydz set in Chicago. What a legend...I can't think of another DJ on the planet right now that I'd rather see.

Super jealous. He's playing in San Francisco in March but I didn't get tickets and now the cheapest tickets on Stubhub are ~$150. Grrr.

Haha sounds like a great time man.

Wonder how much my Tomorrowland snapback would go for – probably an insane amount lmao. Not that I'd sell it anyway, it's my baby

I went many years ago (2012?) and I remember the shuttles being a total fucking shitshow. I'm talking 3 hours to get to the festival and 3 hours to get home. We would leave the festival at 6am and wouldn't get home until 9am. The euphoria you feel as the sun starts to come up during a set quickly makes way to exhaustion and desperation as you realize you probably won't get to sleep until 9/10am. If you have the ability to drive to Las Vegas, or even to rent a car while you're there, it may be worth it. If I do ever make another trip to EDC I will most certainly not use the shuttles.

Otherwise it was a great time. Word of warning: DO NOT LOSE YOUR FRIENDS. You will never find them. Ever. Just like all festivals there is no cell service, but the Las Vegas Speedway is so fucking huge and packed that you will never run into anyone you know. Keep your friends close like your life depends on it.

Day one of last year I didn't get home until.... 11 AM. Yes that is 5 HOURS after the festival ended and that mean 5 hour of WAITING in line for the shuttle in the Las Vegas SUN. I've heard good things about the 3rd party shuttles, renting a car is an option but I don't know if any of you want to be driving in that traffic on the way there, and the way back is going to be misery for the poor soul that has to drive. And there's a much higher chance your vehicle is the "random" check at the gates. I noticed all the random checks were personal cars, and none of the shuttle especially the official one.

However after enough complaints (god bless social media) day 2 and 3 we got home around 7:30 (much more reasonable).

Also ditto on the cell service T-Mobile gets pretty much nothing there. Friends with AT&T were able to call each other they had like 1bar. None of my friends were on Verizon so I have no clue about that. You might want to set up a common meeting place as well (even though the chance of that working is like 5%).

Fuck the staying on the strip, after years of taking that shit shuttle for hours (and last year was 2-3 hours each way, with broken AC) and never leaving the hotel during the day. We are staying down the street from the speedway this year. 10 min cab ride makes a huge difference on when you arrive and leave.

To add on to what other people say, if you're gonna stay on the strip I recommend taking the earliest shuttle possible (6 pm in this case). It's a general trend that people won't want to show up until a few hours later, but this is when the traffic really builds up. Again I haven't been to EDC but from what I'm reading this seems to be true, and I can speak from experience having taken shuttles to several festivals in the past, including Tomorrowland which is equally as big. You're better off getting there early, chilling out, having some drinks or whatever and getting into the vibe than being stuck on a bus for longer than you need to be.

The biggest thing I'm going to emphasize is try NOT to leave at the very end. I can't stress this enough, at Tomorrowland it was a total shitshow. If you're leaving with everyone at the festival at the exact same time when everyone is rushing to get home, you're gonna have a bad time. It gets pretty hostile. It also took me half the time if not less to get home when I left early. Same deal there, took HOURS to get home when I left at the end the first night.

Don't get me wrong, if there's artists you really wanna see at the end, by all means stay. But it's tough.

To put it simply, there isn't an easy way to transfer hundreds of thousands of people. Personally I'm just gonna go as early as possible then leave a couple hours early.

But the strip is where all the fun is. Unless you are just planning on sleeping all morning and resting for EDC which wouldn't be a bad idea if you're going for the sole purpose of the e festival only.

I'm hitting Vegas in a month's time.

Right now here's the lineup for the days I'll be there. I'm going with people who will recognize David Guetta and Calvin Harris below and that's it, so I can probably swing one "I want to see X damnit!" event. What would you guys recommend?

I'm leaning towards Arty (if not overridden with Calvin Harris).

Thursday
Special Guest! (lol) - Hakkasan

Friday
TJR - Encore Beach
Guetta - XS
Arty - Surrender
Calvin Harris - Hakkasan
Nicky Romero - Omnia

Saturday
Guetta - Encore Beach
Dada Life - Wet Republic
Zedd - XS
W&W - Hakkasan
Nervo - Omnia

I would seriously try to avoid Calvin Harris at Hakkasan. Nothing against Calvin at all, but Hakkasan on a Friday with Calvin is an absolute shit show. It's more manageable on Thursdays and whatever but holy crap, you basically cannot move at all on Fridays. They cram the place wayyyyy too much

On Saturday I would definitely try to see Zedd. I've seen all those artists and he puts on the best set by far. Can't comment on XS

Thanks for the heads up on Calvin Harris Fridays. I've heard Hakkasan gets nuts. I like the guy's music and his sound and all, but I don't like him enough to deal with that sort of disaster.

Zedd is known enough to where I think that'll be a quick sell!

Zedd XS is a must in my book.

Hakkasan has never been on my top list, it's huge but the crowd is always been just really like casual club crowd. Shit doesn't get poppin, and like other poster said way too packed.

I have always enjoyed XS and Encore beach club.

Hakkasan and wet republic (the mgm branch) has always beet hit or miss, actually always miss....

I'm curious how Omnia will end up seeing how it's owned by the hakkasan group. Opens pretty soon at Caesar's

But yeah encore beach club is a great time

Hakkasan's problem is that it's built for people that get tables, not the people on the dance floor. I assume that Omnia will have the same problem since it's run by the same people. Hopefully I'm wrong though, since Armin has a residency at Omnia now.

Electronic Opus is a unique and immersive symphonic/electronic concert event featuring reimagined versions of the most famous works from the award-winning, world-renowned, multiple-platinum artist, film composer and technologist Brian Transeau (aka BT). BT is considered one of the people who transformed modern music forever and is widely acknowledged as the godfather of trance.

The worldwide touring multimedia show, produced by Tommy Tallarico and TanZ Group, will combine top orchestras along with the multi-faceted on stage talents of BT, including singing, multi-instrumentalism and, of course, his well-known DJ skills. The show will include exclusive synchronized HD video footage and music arrangements, hyper-synchronized lighting and FX, as well as unique interactive segments to create an explosive one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.

This is why you stay somewhere right next to the venue if possible. Missing Paul Van Dyk closing out EDC last year was sad. I really wanted to stay but was too tired to put up with a 4-5 hour shuttle ride.

But the strip is where all the fun is. Unless you are just planning on sleeping all morning and resting for EDC which wouldn't be a bad idea if you're going for the sole purpose of the e festival only.

We thought the same thing year after year. But what always happens is- "Hell ya we gonna party all night and day, hit pool parties, fuck bitches, go HAM, Wolfpack, bullshit, etc.."
Then we end up crashing all day from exhaustion.

If you wanna do the strip, do it during the week, and stay right next to Speedway during the weekend(Cannery Hotel and Casino & Aliante Hotel and Casino)

How is Paul Oakenfold live?

How about these others: Kenneth Thomas, Darin Epsilon, Ken Loi?

Worth $40?

Really bad or really good depending on how much coke he's done. Though mostly the former. I have seen him probably 15+ times and only one of those was amazing.

He's known to be one of the sloppiest mixers around(unless he's trying) and he is mostly playing big room EDM cheese now a days. If you can catch him playing Trance & Psy and he's not coked up it can be legendary.

(Kenneth Thomas and Epsilon on the other hand are both great if you like old school deep dark progressive. Thomas is actually one of the most under rated DJ's around, guy is a REALLY great DJ)

Definitely hitting Zedd, got the group on board. One mentioned she'd gone to XS prior and that there was an exclusive section where you "pay more and that's where most of the music comes from". Is that the XS tables section, or is that something different than both general admission tickets AND the Bobby Bottleservice spot.

I never heard of such thing been to XS 3 times. 1 bottle service, and the other two was just cover charge walk in. I always find bottle service to be worth it if you're going in a fairly large group and splitting the cost. If you do the math it's probably just a little bit more than you know cover + buying drinks but minus all the lines, waiting, no personal space etc.

Done bottle service at XS/Encore, Wet Republic, Daylight, Marquee, Tao, and Drais so far. All have been a good experience.

I think I know what they're talking about. Basically if you go in with a ticket you bought in advance, you can get to the main area of the club where the DJ actually is. If you just get guestlist, you're stuck in the outside/pool section. I haven't been to XS but I've heard this a lot.

Eric Prydz always does something special. He plays exclusively his own music that the fans know and love. I would be surprised if he played any trance. I'm also still trying to get tickets to his SF show. Damn scalpers, selling tickets on Stubhub for 3x the actual price. I'm desperate enough to buy one though...

In other news, I'm going to see Cyril Hahn tonight. Pretty stoked! I've only seen him two previous times, both of which amazingly good times. The first time I saw him he was doing a show with Ryan Hemsworth at a dim sum restaurant in NYC, and it was a hilarious venue but the music totally made up for it. If you've never heard of him, do yourself a favor and check out his remixes. So dope.

Oh yea, I don't expect Prydz going Trance in that set. It just seems weird to get him for an ASOT stage.
Not that I'm complaining, I love his stuff.

Someone asked him about it on Twitter shortly after the news broke, and he said essentially that he's not trying his hand at trance, he plays what he plays.
