Eidos does not find a purchaser

The French sector of the video games definitely has some problems these times, the British editor Eidos Interactive still does not manage to find transferees potential since his date of setting on sale last June, whereas the financial standing of the company worsens gradually with 4,5 million euros of clear losses for its last exercise. Eidos Interactive indicates however "to continue the discussions", by adding that there is "no assurance which these discussions lead to an offer". The price of 317 million euros required by the company is considered to be too high by the analysts and the investors.

Electronic Arts, Where are you?...

Eidos will, of course, forever hold a special place in my heart for publishing Whiplash. So no hating, please.

I think edios still thinks they are worth the outrageous price they were demanding before and everyone else has said screw them.

The Legacy of Kain redeems Eidos somewhat (or at least Crystal Dynamics) in my eyes, but Amy Hennig's departure destroyed just about any chance of the story continuing well if the company ever returns to the series.

EIDOS has some big IPs that will surely attract one of the big U.S. publishers, or even a media company like Disney who just hired 3 new executive in Europe. I think their management was probably asking too high of a price. Bring it down a notch, and they might get a couple of suitors.

I'm playing it now. You're right.

Sumner Redstone investment in Midway games...
Sumner Redstone heads up Viacom/Paramount...
Paramount did the Tomb Raider movies...
Midway will likely end up with the Tomb Raider licence.

Other than that...what does Eidos have? They did Deus Ex, Fear Effect, that one 3D Final Fight clone...can't remember the name and what else? Legacy of Kain? Probably end up like Acclaim, 3D0 and some others where bigger publishers just scavenge over IP's once they go under. Sort of a shame since 3D0's BEST franchise was BattleTanx, but I think that died with them?

Anyways...I think alot of publishers (Infogrames/Atari, 3D0, Acclaim, Midway, Eidos, Crave, etc.) went into this generation doing stupid stuff thinking that (since MS is a console maker now) if things went bad that MS or someone else big would end up buying them and then they wouldn't have to worry about money or security anymore. Problem is that didn't work for 3D0 & Acclaim, did it? It's too late for Infogrames/Atari and Eidos IMO, thank goodness Midway turned things around and now I think they're one of the best western publishers as Take Two/Rock Star is a fluke and EA is...nevermind...so much for this great "western movement" eh? I dunno how Crave is doing...and of course there's other smaller (or PC) western developers/publishers out there, but I don't care too much for them.
