Even if it’s got 100 times more concurrent users on PS5 than PC, that would still be abysmal numbers, especially spread across multiple playlists.

I’ve seen several #PS5Share tagged posts on social media complaining about 8+ minute wait times in the Rivalry playlist and that the only consistent matchmaking is in the Brawl playlist where the basic TDM and Kill Confirmed game types are.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a paid game where you need to have a paid subscription to even play it. I'm willing to guess its waaaay worse on the PS, too many barriers for the player.

Imagine if they begin to refund everyone lol

Biggest testament of failure ever
I mean, what happens if the product becomes unusable due to it's online nature? So soon after launch?
Pretty sure in the EU at least, they'd be compelled to do refunds.

I’m part of the problem. I genuinely enjoyed the beta so I was set on buying the damn game, but then I got stuck playing Titanfall 2 instead. And now it seems like I missed one hell of a small window lol.

Yes! Straight into my veins. Fuck these boring ass clone games.

How about a helldiver 2 update Sony. What the fuck? Seriously there's a couple hundred people playing concord. This is worse than anthem which I didn't think possible.

How this game isn't FTP already is mind blowing.
I suspect first move will be too make it a PS+ free game, maybe in a few months, then sometime next year after the planned seasons finish they will pivot to a complete ftp model.

That's if they don't just kill it.

I didn't dislike it when I played the beta, I just don't have the time to justify paying for a game like this when I have a load of single player games in my backlog and there are perfectly competent ftp games I can dip in and out of for multiplayer.

On a meta level with the whole backlash of many games lately, there's this feeling in the air that we haven't even really seen the full swing from the mass consumer rejection yet. I honestly believe all trends point to things getting far more bumpy as fuck for the AAA industry being smack dab in the middle of a massive market correction from consumer rejection of key high profile titles. I have no idea what game in the future will be the straw that breaks the camel's back, but it will make Concord seem like nothing.

Now this doesn't mean all or even a majority of future AAA games will get the third degree, but there will be enough that will register with the execs.

Edit: I also believe one opportunistic western pub or dev will break ranks and be highly rewarded and eventually being seen as the model to follow. Coming across as "for the consumer/audience first/focusing on just making good games like the industry used to/etc" and people will flock and cheerlead them. Again, no clue who that company will end up being and this is all just speculation from my ass.

All the characters are included. It takes a lot of development for F2P. They literally hire the same people who design slots in Vegas to get those neurons firing. Pretty hard to tack on if you care about doing a good job. Servers are expensive and right now everyone owns all the stuff by default. They'll be paying for a lot of bandwidth for people to just play it as a lolcow. Think of the trolling. Plus, you'd really burn your most loyal PS fans. Lord knows no one else bought that thing. Ironically turning it F2P would cost a lot of money. They might be done throwing money at Firewalk.

So many pvp games to choose from these days, even if this thing was free it would just attract the usual crowd of bored tourists who move on after a couple weeks for the next thing. Give us more co-op stuff like Helldivers, I think there's more space for that kind of experience in the multiplayer sphere right now.

Decades from now I'll tell my kids I was here when a PS AAA multiplayer game that was in development for 8 years spectacularly cratered on launch reaching double digit numbers on the Steam charts in less than 2 weeks.

For your consideration, PlayStation GAAS.

You really think that people will buy skins or characters for this game?

We've already seen the horrible character design, but this is a legendary skin for this game:

No one is going to plop down their hard earned cash for something this ugly in a F2P game.

People date people that look like that so yes they will spend their cash.

Fools and thier money are soon departed.

It *might* get a barebones Season 1, similar to how Suicide Squad got something, but it's up in the air.

No way it gets a Season 2. It is currently at 167 players on Steam, a marked drop from even yesterday when it barely got above 200.

CoD Beta starts tomorrow and goes for a good while. It just doesn't have any hope.
