Its really a lot of fun. you just have to get into the loop of what it is. Basically you run around gathering and lvling until the day is over. even if you totally you fail you get something..

the hard part for most people I think is you have to take it slow at the start. just use a few days to build up .. do not go running into major fights. Eventually you will be strong enough to take on the bigger fights.

So it's like a Majora's Mask thing? The reveal trailer didn't spark any interest from me and I love Elden Ring.

But this announcement kinda ruin the suspense and fun of tracking Steam CCU players :messenger_pouting:

they could've waited until after the weekend

EDIT: oh but this is only the first 24 hours, never mind

Guessing the majority came from Steam since it peaked at 300K+ and even assuming 25% of the player base was online at once, that'd still over half the total.

Sitting at 60% positive reviews, capped at 60fps, no ultrawide support, PS4 graphics, and runs poorly.

Then PC players wonder why they so often get garbage when they just keep consuming anyway. Mind you, console players aren't much different, but at least the QA there is much more consistent.

May God protect the multiplatform companies that still make AAA single-player games (many of which won't even sell 2 million copies).

The game is not available on any subscription service. This are units sold without any doubt.

As always, we can buy the game and share the game on PC, PS and Xbox (like I do with every game with my son). You can also have multiple people play it on a single device as well, all as unique players. But you knew this.

Yup. And that has nothing to do with my comment, which is accurate.
From Software's twitter,

The total number of copies shipped worldwide of the cooperative survival action game "ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN" has exceeded 2 million. We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has purchased the game. Thank you very much. We hope you will continue to enjoy your adventures in "Rimbeld". Thank you very much for your support.

Glad to hear it. That wasn't in the OP.

Bro, WHAT!?

This is how you know the franchise is definitely mainstream.

Are we the vocal minority now?

Hey looks like Miyazaki still can't miss. Duskbloods will be even more successful.

If they do like monthly content updates and every 3 or 6 months a new nightlord I can see this being long term success, I've been playing for an hour or so with minimal expectations but it's pretty fun so far.

And yet I still have no clue what's different in this game. The initial trailer just looked like it was Elden Ring with a focus on co-op.
>devs: "this is a co-op roguelike"
>product listing: "this is a co-op roguelike"
>community: "this is a co-op roguelike"
>neogaf: "this is a co-op roguelike"

"hmm i wonder what kind of game this is"

Pretty impressive for an asset flip spinoff. If nothing else I hope this encourages them to put a more straightforward coop system into their next game.

It's a coop roguelite where you go on "runs" which take around 30-50 minutes.
You team up with some friend and drop into a smaller Elden Ring map with randomized enemy and "points of interest" placement.
There's a Fortnite-style ring that starts to close down on the player (if you are outside the ring you take a lot of continuous damage)
The objective is to get stronger as fast as possible by defeating enemies, leveling up and finding loot.
After a certain amount of time you fight a boss.
If your survive it's time for day 2 which is basically the same thing again
Then if you survive day 2 you fight a final boss.

And that's basically it. Unlike normal souls games you choose from a bunch of predefined characters with unique abilities.
There's 8 final bosses to fight. From some of the reviews I read, once you've beaten all of them (which takes around 15-20 hours) there's much to stick around for.

I'm not going to waste my time looking up more than their hook if it didn't hook me. They should have said it at the reveal or made it more clear. Others have been confused as to wtf this is too, other than some trashtier game for the Souls meat beaters to buy.

One of the most successful cash grabs in quite some time (cash grab in this case => shameless asset reusing)
Pretty impressive for an asset flip spinoff.
I would probably be more interested if they didn't reuse so many assets

It's a game I'm not super interested in to begin with and then with the reused assets…eh
Why did everyone give Capcom a pass for this in the 90s and 2000s? They reused sprites almost every year, but you guys love these games:

Why isn't Fromsoft allowed to make their own Vs or All stars game just once?

Are we the vocal minority now?
I can't tell if some of you are being sarcastic or not.

This will just make their future games even better, so I welcome its success.

I understand Nightreign may not be for everyone, but it's working checking out if you're a fan of rogue-likes and Elden Ring. The price also makes it more appealing too, so, I'm not surprised. I'm definitely enjoying my time with it.

I pray we get a couple more single player masterpieces before they sell out completely and become multiplayer focused... (game is fun btw but dangerous).

They are enjoying the sucess of the base Elden Ring as a IP. The IP is damn strong right now.

You obviously follow Elden Ring's twitter and made this thread but didn't read into it at all at any point? Apologies for thinking someone who's a regular on an enthusiast gaming forum had a bit more knowledge.

Is there any kind of progression outside of the individual matches?

That was always my thing. Building my account. I can't get into games that are just individual matches with zero progression...that said it don't take much. I'm easy. Is there ANY progression in the game at all?
