Let's not get carried away here.

Don't get me wrong, the AFC is still the better conference, but the Dolphins were in a class of their own.

Fuck the Patriots.

Fuck Bellicheat.

FUCK CTV (Global, all is forgiven...somewhat).

Fuck anyone who I've happened to miss.

Ugh. I need to pick a new team and just go with it. Been a fan since 85 or 86 and it's been nothing but shit for me. Only fond memory I have is the decent showing in the super bowl, but even then I get to see the game winning drive at least once a year.

Have faith. The NFL is a league of equality, and eventually every team has its day. It's only a matter of time until...

Wait, Bengals fan?

Yeah, pick a new team. I hear the Falcons are looking for fans...

This could take some explaining...

Damn it, I pick you guys to have your first winning season every fricking year and you let me down.

I could try but the way the NFL and Bud Adams treated Memphis during that time I would rather not. I remember there was actually an article in SI praising the city for not supporting the team.

I do cheer for them some but not really a fan.

We didn't have a losing season this year! We were close!

And just to go TheFraud22 on everyone, Texans were 2 plays away from the Playoffs!

I didn't know that, but it's kinda the point. There are probably more Oiler fans in Houston than there are actual Titan fans in Tennessee.

I refuse to give the Titans any credit until Bud Adams is six feet under.

Guess who my favorite Rams player of all time is...

Finally the Pats fans are crawling back to their computers to type (from Boston.com)
With everything that has been written or said about yesterday's fiasco; not much has been written about how bad the reffing was in the game. How many times did Brady take blows to the head - a 15 yard personal foul penalty - and it was never called? In reviewing the film of the game I clearly saw 3 times on what turned out to be stalled drives (great slow motion replays provided by the network), and 2 others which there wasn't much tape to say conclusively. The end result it allowed the Giants to tee off on Brady and feel they could get away with it. Albeit the Giants line blew away the Pats typically strong line (I give them credit), but had they been flagged as they should have for these personal fouls, they would have had to back off on their rush...yet it never happened.

There were other questionable "no calls" which were clear on the game reviews and there was little talk by the commentators (can you say offensive pass interference). Was this all part of a conspiracy by the NFL to deny the Pats the trophy? I cannot remember another game in which the refs missed so many obvious personal fouls that indeed changed the course of a critical game. To me it was the key to the game and not some of Belichick's decisions (but why didn't he at least run once when they were on the 7 to make the Giants burn a time out? why? why? why?) Just my observations, others?

I don't know about hits to the head, but i saw some late hits that COULD have been called.

I saw some PI calls that would have been called in the past FOR the Pats.

Not too many calls went there way in the Superbowl this year. I thought for sure this game was going to be decided by another bullshit PI call or something for them.

You have got to be kidding me. I guess losing teams will always bitch about the officiating, or at least their fans will. Not even the Pat players had those complaints afterwards.

Just want to drop in here and say that the NFC will go back to their dynasty years where they belong. Its just way to many potential teams to brush off.

Cowboys
Giants
Greenbay
Vikings
Bears
Eagles
Cardinals

Redskins
Saints
Seahawks

All these teams look good.

Oh, and the AFC will get fucking own by the NFC in the probowl. The Devin hester threat and Romo and farve with purple jesus just spells pwnage.

While your right on the NFC being on the upswing, these few teams are not. Good, but I wouldn't use "potential" with them. They're all pretty static or have already peaked.

Hitokage said:
Yeah, against all the stellar teams in the AFC you can't blame them! If only NFC teams had the misfortune of playing the Raiders, Jets, Bengals, Broncos, Chiefs, and Broncos...

:lol Pats get to play the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills twice a year each. Let's just slow down on the AFC love. Colts, Pats are the top tier teams. Chargers, Jaguars and Steelers are three very good teams a piece or two short of being real contenders. Which will either come from their personnel now, or from free agency/draft. NFC is almost there.

Cowboys and Packers were better than those three teams arguably - with the possible exception of the Jaguars who ran into a perfect offensive game from the Patriots. And the Giants just beat the Patriots, proving how physical the NFC can be at their best. The gap is lessening.

There is nothing I hate more than people bitching about the officiating after a loss.

Man up and give the other team credit.

And Giants prove again that regular season records are meaningless in the playoffs. It is all about who is playing at their best in the playoffs. Being the best team in November is nice, but it doesn't win you anything of significance except for the division.

Home field appears to be becoming overrated as well. In the last 3 years 2 teams have now won a SB without having a single game at home.

And my one prediction is that everyone is going to try and copy the Giants personnel and have 4+ Dlineman who can get after the qbs. First the fad was to have the super linebacker, then it was to have the Ed Reed type safety, now it is going to be to copy the Giants nasty line.

I honestly thought it was the best officiated game of the entire post season. The only potentially blown call was the Toomer offensive pass interference call, but with Randy Moss on your team, you don't want the refs to get too picky about offensive PI. Plus, the drive ended in a pick.

I wonder if Tomlin makes his push faster to fully convert the Steelers 3-4 to the 4-3. But he's still big on Lebeau, so we'll see. If they stay 3-4, they have got to get seriously better at linebacker.

Teams that do copy the Giants defesnive front will be pretty good. Line play is so underrated and overlooked by GM's. It's probably the biggest factor in building good teams and bad teams in the league.

We're a shit team, really!? A shit team doesn't have talent. We have plenty of it. Injuries, more injuries, abysmal offensive gameplans(due to a spineless defensive coach(Nolan) and a young assistant who had no idea WTF he was getting into(Hostler) running the offense is why we finished with a subpar record.

I agree. And given the way some of the earlier games went, I was interested to see how this one was called. I do think they were a bit fortunate that they didn't have bigger coaches challenges to look at it. But overall, it was a nice job.

They need to get better up front as well. The Dline play was pretty bad at the end of the year (injuries) and they were bad all year at creating pressure without blitzes. Really none of our fat guys had a good year last year. Even the big names like Hampton and Faneca were not playing great. Hope this serves as a wake up call for the FO to restock it with some good drafts and FA.

On the other hand, Giants were consistently getting good pressure with or without a blitz.

Steelers secondary is good, but no one is good enough to cover good receivers indefinitely. Eventually good teams will make you pay. Especially if you need to rely on the blitz to create pressure.

that said, looking at the Fox coverage, the build up to this seems much less than the Rangers 94 Stanley Cup ticker tape. now THAT was epic.

Pretty much..

I will always have a special place in my heart for the 2007/08 Giants because of what they have done for me and my Niners:

1. They put J-GAR out of the playoffs
2. They put our archrival Dallas Cowshits out of the playoffs
3. They put our archrival and possibly most hated player in sports history Bret Favre out of the playoffs.
4. They owned another one of my hated players, Tiki Barber, in every possible way.
5. They ended the Patriots perfect season preventing the squads chances of ever being placed up there with any of the Niners' championship teams and greatest team ever.
6. The Niners no remain the only team to have a winning record in the Super Bowl with atleast 3 apperances.

Thank you Giants!

I assured him he still won't....... nor prolly an Igle Super Bowl ;)

...I didn't mean to make it sting... but I'm fairly certain it did.

And... am I hearing this correctly?!?! There were actually Igle fans cheering for the Jints this week?!?!! Personally... I just couldn't see myself ever rooting for a fellow NFC East team in the big one. Not ever. ...I'm not even sure I buy that Igle fans were cheering us on!!

I'm a Giants fan and I rooted for The Washington Football team to make it to the playoffs. I live in DC now and the Sean Taylor thing kinda tugged at the heartstrings.

Man. I feel bad for the Patriots players a little bit. It's coming out that Tom Brady's ankle really was fucked, and now I guess Ellis Hobbs is going in for surgery for a sports hernia. He played the entire game with it, and has had it supposedly for the past few games.

Belichick is a dick. He totally set up Hobbs to fail. Putting an injured player in single coverage against your opponents best receiver? And this isn't even going into the undisclosed injury on the injury report. I hope Goodell comes out and just bitchslaps Belichick for all this bullshit that he's being allowed to get away with. Didn't Shanahan catch some shit a few years ago for lying on the injury report?

I mean, anyone who watched the game saw that Brady's ankle was jacked as he constantly underthrew his long-bomb passes to Randy. And if Hobbs was hurt, too? Man.

I can't believe those players haven't mutineed yet. Ray Lewis would choke Belicheck :lol

To be fair, I doubt Hobbs was anywhere near as injured as the guy he was covering:p

I just know most people with a sports hernia usually can barely walk. I remember Donovan F McNabb limp-wristing that pass and then trying like hell to tackle whoever it was that picked him off a couple years ago.

Like I said, I'm not trying to downplay the Giants awesome win. Simply an incredible win. I'm just saying that Belichick's pride was clearly the biggest weakness of the Patriots this superbowl

Hobbs played really well too. I had no idea he was injured. His only mistake was letting Burress get a clean break but I bet the Giants would have scored eventually. I think he played better than Samuel who had a chance to win the game but then he proved why he is a corner and not a wide receiver.

Single covering Plaxico Burress in the end zone is probably the dumbest decision you can make in that situation. Even moreso with a less-than-steller corner like Hobbs. He was just the unfortunate recipient of a bad coaching decision. I wouldn't really hold that against him at all.
