Meh.. whining about the refs... pretty sad. The officiating was pretty good (and there was plenty of extracurricular stuff by the Pats, too -- Ahmad Bradshaw seemed to take a steady dose of extra shoving/contact after almost every touch early in the game, for example... so that's a pretty weak argument)

As for previous Super Bowls, all the talk of the Rams/Pats Super Bowl sort of makes me think that those early Pats really set this year's version up for success by being at least part of the inspiration (I think one of the main inspirations) for a shift in what refs would allow in terms of contacting a receiver.

The end result it allowed the Giants to tee off on Brady and feel they could get away with it. Albeit the Giants line blew away the Pats typically strong line (I give them credit), but had they been flagged as they should have for these personal fouls, they would have had to back off on their rush...yet it never happened.

If the Patriots wanted to stop the Giants from teeing off on Brady, they would have called a few draws. Clearly, the Patriots just didn't care that Tom Brady will be pissing blood for a month.

When your team gets that kind of protection, I guess your fans forget that it's actually legal to hit the quarterback after the ball is released, provided you're there in time. Sheesh. But whatever makes them feel better (bitter tears).

I bet they had no problem with the leg whip on Rivers though.

Yeah seriously, most qb's don't have that luxury and usually have to take a few hits in the course of a game. Maybe Tom wasn't used to getting hit after his amazing protection in the regular season.

And the Jags can get after the qb, they beat the crap about of Big Ben both times we played them. It isn't easy easy to pressure the Pats O-line. They were the best O-line in football and the fact that the G-men handled them for 50 minutes is something to admire not find fault with.

I'm glad we were finally able to clear up what all that jumping the Giants defense would do when breaking the huddle was.

Stomping them out

It was really crowded, and I got there too late, so I didn't really get to see much. I did, however, get to at least participate in the insanity, and hear Manning, Strahan and the others speak. (really, Whoopie? WTF)

Stomp them out!!

Also, every time the mounted horse police rode by, my entire section of fans would boo and start chanting "Cowboys suck" :lol :lol

Also, Flava Flav climbed a tree. My phone was in my pocket at the time, though :(

Just got back to work from the parade. Insanity.

I got some pics which I will upload when I get home. I got fucking lost wandering the city and didn't make it to City Hall. :(

Honestly, I have no clue why they didn't run some more draws and screens. They just didn't play smart, which is crazy. They've been one of the smartest coached and runned teams for awhile. It's like Belichick bought into the juggernaut hype. Just looking at the Packers game, you could see potentially the kind of damage a simple screen pass could have done. You know, save for Antonio Pierce making a ridiculous tackle.

I got off the 6 train at City Hall around 11:15, and didn't really have any options for moving around and finding a better spot. The crush of people was crazy; a claustrophobic's nightmare. Worth it though, if only because I was able to chant "Boston Sucks" for two hours straight

I was close to completely blocking that out of my memory. I can't imagine how good the Eagles would have been with TO and Burress, on top of Westbrook. Sigh, I need to calm down.
It wouldn't have happened. One of Burress' top goals that off-season was to go to a team that would make him the #1.

This is what I thought they would do... just like the last game. Moss not available, so throw the flat or screen pass. We got burned last time by that pass.

My prediction was that the Giants would intercept 2 of those screens for the win. But the Pats never used that play.

Didn't know that, but that won't stop me regretting the fact that he was never an eagle.

We lost our super bowl against the Pats because of screen passes and/or cheating.

You lost because of Tom Brady.

Well no, we lost because of a combination of poor playing calling to begin with and poor decisions by McNabb (and I'm not talking about him late in the game, but in the first half).

He throws an interception, penalty, gets it called back. Very next play, exactly the same play, he throws basically the same interception.

Damn that was the first thing that pissed me off about that game. You sir need to brush up on your vacuous NFL on-air personalities.

Keep up the Eli Defense Force act.

Everything I have said about Eli is true. He folds under pressure like a cheap suit. His last three seasons have been the same over and over again. Fading down the stretch, not getting any better.

Same old song and dance for the Giants.

Found this from week 17 LOL....oh how things have changed. I might even say he had the best quarterback play for the entire playoffs.

Ill never forget the play where he had Westbrook WIDE OPEN in the endzone and underthrew him by like 10 yards. People have suggested he was slightly out of it in the first half due to the helmet to helmet shot he took on our opening drive that wasnt called. He played better in the 2nd half but not enough to overcome the pats cheating.

That parade was insane. I know they said no major incidents occurred but I was down a street with people standing ON a bus, and shaking the crap out of the thing. And then as a cavalcade of police were coming down, the people started jumping off into the crowd. I was walking the other way at that point, fortunately.

I love Michael Strahan and so should Cowboys fans

http://www.nypost.com/seven/02052008/sports/giants/a_wanted_man_38084.htm

Prior to leaving here, Michael Strahan Michael Strahan was non-committal about returning for a 16th season with the Giants New York Giants .

"C'mon, man, I'm not even out of the hotel," Strahan said. "Trust me, when I do leave there will be gas in the tank. They're not leaving me completely empty."

Strahan surprisingly said the Patriots were not the toughest opponent the Giants faced this season.

"Trust me, that is the best team we played, the Cowboys," Strahan said.

Because there will be more superbowls for us and more heartache for you. Wait a minute, why are you happy?

Why does it matter? The Giants are the SB champs and that is all anyone will remember 2 years from now. No one gives a shit about how good you are unless you win the games.

And while Duce's hate on Eli is LOLworthy, I have to say I have met quite a few Giant fans who were very Eagle like in their dislike of Eli prior to the playoffs. At least most of GAF Giant fans jumped on the Defense Force and started to believe well before time.

I think it's amusing an Eagles' fan is talking trash on Eli after he trashed their team by himself back in Week 2 of '06.

I was just thinking about that game and how we had Plaxico covered one on one with the game on the line. What a stupid decision.

Winning a superbowl doesnt not automatically make him a good QB. It was the defense that won it for them and his receivers who constantly bail him out on those jump balls he likes to throw up. Had Tyree not made that insane catch, had the pats defenders picked off one of those balls throw directly to them, we wouldnt even be having this discusion. Giants fans would still be trying to run him out of town, and rightfully so.

Lets look at his stats vs the eagles this year. Im sure he strikes fear into the hearts of our defenders.

Passing CP/AT YDS TD INT
E. Manning 14/26 135 1 1

Passing CP/AT YDS TD INT
E. Manning 17/31 219 1 0

and the playoff game last year...

Passing CP/AT YDS TD INT
E. Manning 16/27 161 2 1

Pathetic. Eli is clutch. He has responded all season when the giants needed him in the final 2 minutes of halfs. Eagles fans stay crying bitter tears. Can't wait for McNabb to walk away from the Eagles and leave them mediocre.

Impressed and happy with Eli, but I'm not joining the camp that has him up there with Joe Montana and John Elway all of a sudden.

If it weren't for Tyree and that big catch, we would not be praising Eli this much. Must keep that in mind, until BLUE does it NEXT season.

When will the 'what ifs' stop? You can play that game forever. Let Eli enjoy his time in the sun, jeez. My God, the Giants won the SB already. End of discussion.

As a typical giants fan I'm already wondering which Eli is gonna show up next year...trying my hardest to be positive though.

Now as to 'his receivers constantly bail him out' and not giving him any credit is a little unfair...did you actually watch him these 4 playoff games? He had tons of awesome throws, much moreso than jump balls.

Ya I watched the playoff games. I saw the Giants defense play out of their heads and shut down some very good offenses while Eli did his best impersonation of Trent Dilfer.
