Even the guys who made Twitter is starting to dislike it.

Twitter is a problem. Character limits are a poor way to communicate. Not saying it would be better without character limits, it serves a purpose. But it was inevitably doomed to be toxic as long as it had limits.
Well yeah. He has to. The CEO reports to the board.Same guy in that pic just welcomed him to the board right?
The guy is so wealthy, he can probably force his way into the boards of many silicon valley companies.
Thats too much power for one man to have.
Imagine the guys who made Youtube seeing what Google did with that shit.
Sure comrade. That makes total sense. Viva la resistance!Wait so the dude BUYS his way onto the board, and then he wants to change things harping about free speech, when really twitter chooses to remove platforms from the dreg opinions of society. It sounds like he just wants his politically favorable opinions to be okay, and not actual free speech.
That is corrupt as shit.
Yep learn to code men aren't women and the Babylon Bee are the dreg opinions of society.Sure comrade. That makes total sense. Viva la resistance!
Yes sir, the fascists are showing their asses today. My favorites are the ones that refer to him as an oligarch because of this purchase. If I had a dollar for every time that crowd attributes Russia to political opponents, while calling for their political favorites to censor their political opponents, I'd be very rich.I see a lot of REEEEEtera and the woke shite in Twitter hurting. They're upset, of the thought of losing control over others and their brigade platform.
It very well might be. There's a good chance he has the founder's support, and he is on record being unhappy with what has become of the platform. There's also a good chance he has friends who hold lots of votes / proxies and made a plan with them before jumping in. Add in his 80 million followers, and the business rational for why it makes sense to cast a wider net, and boom, change is possible. Not guaranteed, but very good chance.Serious question here, is less than 10% enough oomph to actually change certain forms of censorship.
Will there be an actual tangible difference?
Fingers crossed your right. It very well might be. There's a good chance he has the founder's support, and he is on record being unhappy with what has become of the platform. It's all about influence. He doesn't just own just under 10% of the company. He is single largest shareholder. That alone makes him incredibly influential to management. I work in a totally different industry, but big time shareholders at my firm who have a seat on the board have influenced who gets hired/fired from a senior management level. I'd suspect, if nothing else, existing management doesn't want Musk trying to convince other board members and the public that he thinks the CEO, CFO, etc need to be replaced.Serious question here, is less than 10% enough oomph to actually change certain forms of censorship.
Will there be an actual tangible difference?
Multiple people have totally misunderstood what I meant by that post. People are taking it as me meaning the user experience. I’m not talking about the user experience. I’m saying a platform structured around character limits leads to toxicity because it’s not a way to communicate or understand someone else. Text in general is a poor way to communicate, so you’re going to get toxicity on all social media platforms, but the harder it is to communicate, the worse discourse always gets. You can make a second tweet and double your characters, then do it again! Length is not an issue at all.
Lunatics are peacefully burning down the courthouse. This is promising.
With Twitter, you can't even say "lunatics were running the asylum", because way too many people are, sadly, depending on it for information. It was more like "lunatics are burning down the town hall."
Click on "Media" and paste the tweet url. Through some voodoo, the site displays it.How do you link twitter posts in threads?
The image is cropped. The last two words are "free speech." How quickly the blue check marks change their tune on what free speech is when someone they dislike has a say in moderation.
The CEO of Babylon Bee had this to say
I know Elon is a fan of their work, so this might have had something to do with it
"If people have the will, you can kill Twitter within a few months. A mass exodus in the platform will quickly kill it. It doesn't even require you to do anything."I see a lot of REEEEEtera and the woke shite in Twitter hurting. They're upset, of the thought of losing control over others and their brigade platform.
I don’t think even Musk can salvage enough to make me actively want to participate with Twitter.I might actually sign up for a twitter account now.

CCP officials are on it tooIts insane to me that right leaning people with controversial views are wiped off the platform but Russian state/government affiliated accounts and other Pro Russian bots are allowed to spread misleading propaganda and misinformation in regards to War crimes and genocide. Like what the fuck twitter?
Musk would only do it for the lols, so who knows. If it makes money, it’s possibleGuess who’s coming back. The meltdowns will make Chernobyl look like a gentle fart in comparison.
He’s currently suing Twitter to get his account back. Musk will convince them to lift the ban to avoid court.
I can. I can also imagine the US government going after Musk if he did this.
He has a lot of work to do though. It’s not just the banning of people it’s the shadow banning of wrongthink as well. There’s a social media platform in beta right now with a fraction of the users Twitter has and they’ve been able to show the Twitter suppression in action where the same post is made on both platforms and Twitter suppressed it so it got no engagement where on the beta platform it got a ton, again with a tiny fraction of the users that Twitter has.
He’s going to need to rebuild it from the ground up to tear out all of the authoritative controls they’ve implemented over the last six years. The entire platform is built on the idea of silencing those who disagree with the danger hair children who run it out of San Francisco.
Hopefully this is the beginning of the pendulum swinging the other way
This has the potential to make me actually like something I formerly despised just like removing building from Fortnite, the tides truly are turning.I might actually sign up for a twitter account now.
It will be a shitpost worthy of the Smithsonian.CCP officials are on it too

They don't need grounds as proven by many whistleblowers and journalists. On what grounds?
