Awesome. My pie in the sky dream is to make sure that the next car I buy is an electric one, and the car after that is autonomous.

Bolt looks like a $10,000 car but with electric. Surprised a huge company like GM that will sell a decent amount of those can't get it lower than $37k.
What are the chances there will still be tax incentives for electric cars in 2017/18?
I'm a few months from paying off my Fusion. If I bank what I'm saving in payments for two years I'd be in good shape for one of these, assuming they're available.
I want Model 3 to be my next car, but backorders mean even if I order it when it hits production in 2017, I'll have to wait in line for at least a year right?
No way these could work in an environment like MN.
Tesla is a roller coaster stock. If you pay attention to it, you can make a lot of money by constantly buying and selling it when it hits those ups and downs.
I want this car but as long Texas protects those innocent billionaire car companies I won't be able to without a huge premium to get it from another state
Would now be a good time to buy Tesla stock?

Is Model X coming out before Model 3 confirmed?
Yes. Georgia.Isn't there a state that will tax you for having an electric car?
this is on par with something out of children of men

Why is that anyways?Yes. Georgia.
Sigh.
Why is that anyways?
I'm definitely interested in this, as long as it doesn't end up looking like the Chevy Bolt.

Ah right I think I remember hearing that now. Never thought I would see something like this. But here it is.I believe their justification is that gas taxes are used to fund road and transportation projects; electric car drivers use these roads and skirt the taxation.
I had the same reaction as you no doubt. But I kind of understand. Gas taxes usually go to fixing roads. And with little to no gas, you have the same wear on the road with no "payment" for it.Yes. Georgia.
Sigh.

I'm surprised this is actually a thing down in GA considering how conservative the state is.Georgia gives a 20%/$5k tax credit for zero emission vehicles.

Aw yiss.

Oh, right.Yep. You now have to PAY the state a tax for an EV.
Georgia state gov't needs money.
What? Why? Fuck you, Deal. How much?Yep. You now have to PAY the state a tax for an EV.

No manual transmission no buy
Last I heard, with electric cars there's no manual, as in there's no gears to use. In automatics, the gears change automatically, but here there are none.
No manual transmission no buy
Well something has to transmit engine rpms to axle rotation, no? I mean there has to be some sort of transmission. Maybe a fixed gear, but still a transmission.

simplest, and most boring
I think its 200 bucks. But they used to give you a 5,000$ tax credit. So axing that and charging 200 bucks will help fill a big hole in the state's budget.
It's one of the few things Nathan Deal has done right since he's been in office!
Looks like he has a ton of legroom to me. Modern hatchs have tons of room.
Boring in the best way, as in less likely to fail. I doubt you've driven a Model S, so you have no clue what it's like to drive. Most critically acclaimed car on the road right now.
$5k is a hefty tax credit for a state, but removing the entire incentive is shortsighted. If EVs were a solid fraction of the market, sure, but 1% is still tiny compared to ICEs. They have shot themselves in the foot, most likely, as people will look to defer buying an EV or move to another state with better incentives.

What i don't understand about electric cars is the monotoneus design and that every manufacturer totally rips off the other ones designs (like the Volt a couple of posts up, it totally looks like the BMW i3) and most electric cars all end up looking the same.
But whatever with cars, i want a electric motorbike - like the HD Limewire <3
i dont understand this either and it doesn't have to be this way. Teslas aren't like that. If they can do it, then so can other manufacturers.
Also, for those of us who prefer shifting transmissions and more control over the car, it doesn't matter what acclaim a consumer publication heaps on it.
What? Why? Fuck you, Deal. How much?
Also maybe Georgia's legislature should think about other forms of revenue rather than making themselves look stupid. Making people pay a tax for not using gas and helping keep the air a bit cleaner while other states are giving a +5000 dollar credit is the dumbest fucking thing I've heard all day. Yet another reason (of many) why the South is like an anchor while the rest of the country tries to move in a positive direction.
Oh don't worry, they are. For instance, having to pay sales tax on private auto sales now.
Eliminating the EV tax credit is a no-brainer if they believe it won't hurt EV sales. Assuming EV sales stay mostly the same, the state is losing out on a lot of potential revenue.
