It dangerously sounds like they're gonna ignore third parties again.

Nintendo's approach to third parties has generally been: make a lot of great games, build the user base, then the system would be a great platform for third parties to release games. This is what Nintendo needs to do, and hopefully they have some really good Western focused exclusives in it. This would hopefully attract a certain type of gamer to buy the system, and this type of gamer would be more likely to buy third party games than Nintendo's typical core fan.
However, they still need to do more than that by creating a box developers like and actively courting them. One of the GameCube hardware's philosophy was to make a box that was powerful AND easy to program for (unlike the PS2 and N64 before it). However, despite that, Nintendo still messed it up by using mini-DVDs, no online, and not having a Z2 button. Nintendo really has to listen to EVERYTHING they want.
