Emily Rogers: Why you should be excited about NX’s software output

Well, yeah, it's pretty likely that's already happened. Hence why the 2016 release schedule is so barren for WiiU. Titles like Pikmin 4 that were said to be nearly complete are nowhere to be seen, suggesting they've been moved over to NX.

The reply below is in reply to the comment above, and I have to agree with it, being a launch WiiU owner.

It's great if you've already decided to buy an NX. I haven't, and I find the way the rug has been pulled out from under the Wii U pretty frustrating.

This though got my attention:

And you know what? That's great. They'll look and play better on NX, and have a chance at finding the audience WiiU didn't.

Why will people that did not have a WiiU buy a NX, what makes you think that there is an (bigger) audience for the NX than there was for the WiIU?

Listen to what Micheal Pachter says here Factor Episode 16 should link direct but if not it's 16:25 on-wards on that answer, [the whole section is good for his views and thoughts on the NX regarding third party]

"thirty million Nintendo fanbois beat the shit out of Pach for criticising Nintendo but eighteen million didn't pony up the cash to buy a $300 console, you claim to be a fan by going out and spending $15 on an Amibo"

I cannot see that many people who didn't buy a WiiU will run out and buy a NX, if you cannot wait to buy a NX and didn't/don't own a WiiU why not? becuase if you like Nintendo games then the WiiU has the best versions of the Nintendo franchise games there is, I myself cannot see how some of them can be bettered.

I'll let you in on a dirty secret:

This is only true for maybe 3-4 of the games on Wii U.

They should release a Dark Souls Trilogy for NX:

- Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition
- Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin Edition
- Dark Souls III + DLC Season Pass included

All on one high-capacity cart. Playable at home or on the go on NX.

Heck, Nintendo could publish for Bandai-Namco and include an amiibo line!

Doubt that would happen.

Considering that DS3 runs adequately if not exceptionally on PS4/X1 I would imagine that it would need many compromises to work on lower spec hardware.

the hope is that Nintendo doesn't colossally fuck up the NX like they did with the Wii U so it should be a more enticing product. plus it's a handheld so they're really combining their handheld and console audiences under one roof. those two things should almost assuredly give the NX a bigger audience than the Wii U.

For me at least, the Wii U was overpriced, so I never bit. That and a not insignificant number of games coming out for it I had just played a smaller entry of on 3DS (Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros 2, Mario Kart 7, Smash 4).

As time went on I was waiting for support that never came. If Zelda came out earlier I might have picked one up, but who knows.

On the other hand, the NX won't have the 3DS competing with it, and it sounds like Nintendo is preparing a good lineup for it. If it's within a reasonable price range (say $200-$250), I could see myself buying one where the Wii U just didn't grab me. Of course I'll be waiting for more details, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

because the 3DS already fullfilled that necessity, main Nintendo games at a cheaper price, portable, 3D, with actual third party support.when it was announced it was the machine everyone wanted,

there is a market for Nintendo hardware that the Wii U could not reach, but the NX
might,

to add a bit
There is no market for a premium Nintendo system with different releases, much less one called Wii U, but there could be one for Nintendo hardware still, were ambitious console and portable games coexist along with their mobile offerings in the palm ofv your hand.

thats what Nintendo is beting on, will it work? who knows, but NX is not a Wii U

The trouble is Nintendo said that the WiiU would have a good line up, I agree that Zelda is late but it would have released on the WiiU earlier (out by now anyway) but it's delayed even more to push back onto the NX.

The 3DS may have been the machine everyone wanted when announced but not when released with the huge price cut six months after release because of poor sales.

I am not having a go at anyone, it is just as Pach said, if all the people that say they love Nintendo and their games went out and purchased a 3DS and more importantly a WiiU then Nintendo wouldn't be in the situation that it finds itself.

I was excited about the 3DS and got one at launch, even after the price cut which I was of course not too happy about, I was excited about the WiiU and I picked one up at launch as well and then the same issues plagued the WiiU as did the 3DS, but I am not excited about the NX, it's hybrid design doesn't appeal to me, and due to the design I cannot see third parties rushing to support it, thus I am going to be like everyone else when the WiiU released, just sit back and wait for the content and price cuts which is not going to help Nintendo at all.

I do stand to be corrected though.

He really does think highly of himself. I guess that's what happens when the community and media pay attention to him for whatever reason.

How come? Do we know this for sure?

IIRC Miyazaki said some really condescending things about Nintendo and outright laughed when someone asked if Dark Souls II could come to the Wii U. Maybe I made up the details though. But they were veeeery definitive in their answer. I'll find a link....

EDIT:
http://nintendoeverything.com/dark-...t-different-from-the-audience-for-dark-souls/

Asked whether From Software and Namco ever considered a Wii U port, Miyazoe bluntly replies: “No.” When asked why, he explodes with laughter. “Wii U never came up, and we never doubted that (decision) either,” he says. “It was more of a company decision, so I wasn’t the one that decided this, but I think the audience for the Wii U is a lot different from the audience for Dark Souls.”

Also it was Takeshi Miyazoe, not Miyazaki, so I got that wrong.

Honestly he sounds like kind of a dick but w/e

It wasn't Miyazaki. And the producer of Dark Souls II had nothing condescending to say about Nintendo. He believed the Wii U wasn't a good fit for Dark Souls II and he was probably right.

I'm a massive Nintendo fan and I laugh at my Wii U on a fairly regular basis!

Yeah, I got the details wrong. I edited the thing into my post just now actually. Also noted it was a company decision so it was probably a standard "not worth it from a business perspective" decision. I wouldn't say that's wrong.

I dunno, I mean, I'm a Nintendo fan too and I'm preeetty much one of the last people who would defend the mistakes made on the Wii U, but I'm just looking at it from the perspective of being a game designer and then laughing when someone asks you if it'll be ported to the system... It's what everyone's thinking, but it's kind of immature. I dunno.

Sad... but lol. Bring on the NX.
