Enotria The Last Song | Review Thread & Unofficial OT

kittoo

Cretinously credulous
Didn't see a thread so thought would create one, can be used as an unofficial OT too. Reviews are now spilling out slowly. The game has a weird release strategy where it released on Steam on 16th Sep while all other places (Epic, PS5) are scheduled for 19th. Anyway, seems like a decent one. Personally will get it in a few days, after I am done with Casting of Frank stone and Warhammer Space Marine 2.

I put in 2.5 hours last night. Overall, I like it quite a bit.

- The combat feels good, unlike, say, Lords of the Fallen, where attacks didnt' feel substantial enough. In Entoria, they do.
- Your character also feels grounded and not floaty. The level design seems really good. The first main area, a town, has really good twists and turns via alleys and houses, staircases, etc.
- The game has a neat mechanic where you can trigger hidden bridges, ladders, etc, that only appear for a limited time, allowing you to get to hidden treasure.
- The graphics are good. I arrived at a new area past the starting town that's all blue light that looks pretty great.

Negatives. So far not a whole lot of them.
- The lore is beyond obtuse for me, I have zero idea of what's going on, but I would assume someone versed in Italian folklore wouldn't have this problem.
- I would also say that the stats, how weapons work exactly, and the mask system, is confusing to me, but I'm early on so I'll get used to that I'm sure.

Overall, I'm really liking it and glad I bought it, looking forward to getting home after work and firing it up again.

I saw rurikhan streaming this one and he was extremely surprised by how polished it is and how good it feels to play (with some junk here and there).

Proud of my fellow italian devs.

It's reviewing far better than I expected. Guess I'll pick this up on sale at some point.

They have like a very long trailer where they explain every mechanic (not sure how much in deep they go)

I didn't like how floaty the combat felt. Like fighting with wooden sticks.

The atmosphere is great, some areas reminded me of Dark Souls 2.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I played some more at lunch, I'm really enjoying exploring. I have a mask (class) setup that I'm liking as well, using a polearm mainly. Some enemies are hard as hell, some are just one or two hits and dead, much like other Soulslikes.

Angry_Megalodon Angry_Megalodon I can see where you say that, but I'm coming from having just played a ton of Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen, and finishing Wukong, and other than Wukong the combat in the other two felt exactly like that to me, however Enotria feels a bit more solid. Not sure why companies can't nail that visceral combat feel of ER/Souls, it must be VERY hard to do.
