Enter The Gungeon |OT| Praise the gun

This game is very good and unfortunately too fucking hard for me. Its not like it gives you a chance to make things any easier over time either, so playing it feels like a hopeless experience lol

That's pretty interesting. Did you try teleporting across the map after scaring him away the 2nd time just to see if he was done with that item for good? Like you said earlier, being able to leave behind ammo drops without worry would make things a whole lot easier in the late game.
Yeah, I had some ammo drop in the second room of the fourth floor and when I came back after defeating the boss, it was still there. I have only tried the strategy in one run so far and it was in that run that I defeated the 5th floor boss for the first time.

You gain knowledge and practice by playing so it should get easier over time even without meta game mechanics designed for that purpose.

so i got to the 5th level for the 3rd or 4th time, and finally had enough inventory/health to get it done

met this vendor chick who asks for the rare items, presumably to unlock the real ending?

so anyway i go in and fight the last boss, im nervous but i have the bee gun

i thought my PS4 was gonna crash the frames locked up so badly, holy shit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_7nv4hNHFM

i gave the vendor the item i got from the last boss, but i guess i need more

gunpowder from the mine cart room, and something else from that room where you need a jetpack to fly across the spikes

what else?

And it has meta game mechanics anyway, since you unlock more powerful weapons/upgrades into the drop pool, more merchants inside the gungeon, shortcuts etc.

FINALLY! Beat all the bosses and "won".

Got the Gattlin' Gull's minigun on chamber 1 so it was kind of easy street after that.. except when I ran out of bullets on the final boss. Managed to eek out a win with 1 hit point left.

Fantastic game. Favorite game this year is definitely between this and Stardew Valley.

Man getting the ingredients for the bullet is daunting. Good thing I'm addicted!

You don't need wings. You can use your bullet casings to find the invisible path.

I did the bullet casings method -- if you reload a gun, the empty casings will scatter on the floor. If you do it near the pit, bit by bit you can reveal where the invisible floor is since the casings will hover there instead of falling into the pit. It's slow and tedious, but you can do it with the default gun so you're not wasting any ammo.

Eh. Sometimes you get boned on a run with garbage guns (is there any way to remove shit from the item pool? So many trash guns.) but I consistantly get to Level 4 now, despite drops. Five if I actually get some gear.

Oh god, choked so hard. I had a run where I got 4 master chambers and the one I missed was floor 2, the god damn Gorgun of all bosses, sigh. Not sure if I'll ever actually pull that off or not

I also lost 4 pieces of armor in a platforming room with hammers on floor 5. Feels bad D:

That's rough. I did that on my last run where I killed the past of the hunter. I was so pissed off at myself. Gorgun lol

Edit: Just the convict to go now.

The best gun I ever found that melted bosses was the egg one, the one that hatches into more bullets

That thing was so great

Yeah I got that once, it's sick. The other melters I usually get are proton pack and the bee one.

Just got Thunderclap for the first time and it's a monster for room clearing on chamber 5 and looks decent for bosses too.

Edit 2: Beat
all the pasts
, but whatever comes next will have to wait til tomorrow. Fuck I love this game.

Most of the time I get shafted by garbage, being able to mitigate some of the junk guns in the game, maybe some kind of gamble / dice roll to make a choice of which you remove from that games pool would be good.

I consistently get to 4, sometimes 5, regardless of drops, but I doubt I will ever finish the game, even for one char, simply because the skill requirement for floor 4 and 5 generally exceeds my skill level, I think I am about as good as I am going to get (after about 20+ hours)

I would also like (an option) to be able to see damage stats / health on enemies.

I do like the game though, even though I am not good enough at it, but I still feel that the game is just that bit too reliant on RNG.

If you unlock all the shortcuts. Chamber 5 will actually have a boss rush mode. So you have 3 chances at each master round. Its prob the best way to go about it. Unlocked the bullet last night. It'll prob be quite easy with him.

ohh, that makes sense. I saw a pic of the game being completed with the Bullet in fifteen minutes with all five master rounds. I guess that's how. Bullet is definitely OP. I try not to play with it too much just because I don't wanna get too comfortable with not having to dodge

I always seem to win whenever I get the items that slow enemy bullets. Even without any other good items.

Had potion of lead skin but I never even used it.

Maybe I should start doing this whole "kill the past" thing I keep hearing about.

I just bought this on Sunday and played for a few hours. Got to floor 3 a few times but died pretty quickly on them. Pretty fun game but so far not as addicting or adrenaline rushing as Spelunky was to me.

Wow glad I was able to find this OT I'll go through it this evening.

Enjoying the game, I'm annoyed I can't get passed the second floor. I just can't seem to get pass bosses without losing most of my health.

Man, some potentially awesome items just fuck you. I can't learn to use the scarf in the 1% of the time I get it and even then it's pretty hard to switch gears on the fly.

That's Bloody Eye. It's a drug that the antagonist from the first episode of Cowboy Bebop is peddling. It'd be nice to get a full list of references this game has:

Iiiiiinteresting.

I finally won a game WITHOUT slowed enemy projectiles. Which makes me feel like I'm getting better at it. Winning is fun.

Almost have the bullet constructed. Just need to buy the darn prime primer. Good item but so expensive...

So what's the upside to starting on a higher level dungeon than level 1?

I started at the 2nd floor and uh, it didn't go well.

Honestly, I don't do it and haven't even bothered unlocking the third floor shortcut. The first floor is a cakewalk and you miss out on items, money, and armor by skipping it.

Unlocks new things for the item pool, but actually using the shortcut is only really great if you want to practice specific sections of game.

You forgot Salt & Sanctuary thread that is about 50 pages AND was only released on PS4 so far. That and Gungeon are my 2 GOTY right now, both amazing games.

331 posts of S&S's 50 pages is me, and I am unrepentant.

Once I've had my fill of Dark Souls 3, I'll see about livening this thread up. I only got to floor 3 in this game before Dark Souls 3 came out, and that was only like 7 or 8 runs, so there's plenty of Gungeon left to explore :D.

Woo 2nd clear, was almost a cake walk. Got smiley's on floor one leading to an easy no-hit on the boss. Picked up an eye of the beholster which lead to no-hits on stage 2 and 3, scooped some gun-knight armor and a barrel (+ loads of ammo drops for said barrel) and absolutely destroyed floors 4 and 5. Rounded out the arsenal with Cold-45 and space friend.

i put the bullet together, so what happens now

is there
just another boss after the 5th boss?

saw there was an achievement for getting all 5 master bullets in one run (kill all 5 bosses without getting hit once)

Each character has their own boss after you kill the dragun. After you kill the past will all four, you unlock floor 6.

holy fuck!

this game is legit incredible

might be my GOTY so far, i'm enjoying it even more than I did Dark Souls 3

i assume
floor 6 is nuts?

Floor 6 is called "Bullet Hell", so yea. There are also a hidden character you can unlock after you kill the past with the starting four. Another character you can unlock after you open up the first shortcut. And two hidden floors.
So there's plenty to do after you 'beat' it for the first time.

I bought all of the guns from all the vendors. Nothing left to spend credits on except to bless myself and shortcuts. The final gun I bought doesn't seem that great and not at all worth the 100 credits.

Finally got to floor 2 after a good 2 hours of attempts. Then died in the second room. This game is a cunt and i fucking hate (love) it!!!

I came really close to beating the
third form of the
real final boss.

I didn't expect it to have three different forms though.

The waxen wings are really good against his second and third form. Also it didn't hurt I had the patriot, the brick beaker and a lot of upgrades for my bullets.
