In an email correspondence GamesBeat got its hands on, Team YP made several appeals to ESL and even offered to rebrand in a way that did not refer to YouPorn or even YP in any way, but the ESL turned down that offer and solidified the expulsion of Team YP from its events.
Makes sense. You can't really get mainstream appeal when one of your major sponsors is a porn site. It also further reinforces the stereotype of gamers being maladjusted losers who masturbate all the time.

G2A has gone big to the point that they can pay good money for the events to be hush hush. They're not "banned" anywhere anymore and everyone has expected it as something they cannot defeat.
G2A is here to stay, and they will soon have a nice lobbying power to stay here forever.
I just saw Twitch do a promotion for Bud Light at PAX arena. There are multiple teams sponsored by vaping companies. Fakku, a hentai site is sponsoring players and can get their name on stream. These are all social vices that the Establishment currently embraces.
For all those who are against team YP sponsering teams/players, do you think 6 year old kids will see the name and start googling the name or something?
And just to see what you get by googling team YP, I get their competitive esports page and a bunch of links about the ban of their team. Nothing about Youporn or any hint of Pornography.
Team YP sounds more like a joke than anything. When you watch a movie and it shows the different teams and they all have funny names and Team YP would fit in with them.
The name should be added to every copy of Idiocracy out there as well. YP should have its own stadium littered with couches and taxis to drive spectators home.
the ESL is a german based eSport company and their set rules follow in some what way the german Bundesliga (Football / Soccer League) rules are like. Ads for alcohol or cigarettes are forbidden as well as "adult content" and I don't think that we will soon see any of those ads in ESL hosted eSports events.
Edit: Gambling Ads are also forbidden in the german football / soccer league and afaik in the ESL as well.

Not sure if serious. We have stadiums named after beer companies. We have teams with a beer company on their shirts. We have ads for gambling sites EVERYWHERE!
The fucking national team is even sponsored by a beer company!

There is 1 stadium with an exception rule and it has to advertise nonalcoholic products only. There is currently 1 gambling ad printed on the jersey of Berlin from a company that is not allowed to do business in Berlin. Outside of this jersey there are litteraly zero gamling ads. Just because you see gambling ads in for example pay-tv doesnt conclude that the ads are allowed by the league holders (DFL) themselfes. You just have other media outlets that buys the licenses to market the content of the league.
But in the case of the ESL the license holder and content producers are (basically) the same company.
