European Parliament Elections 2014 |OT| The Undemocratic EU is Actually Elected

Would bigoted or xenophobic be more to your liking?

Xenophobic would be the only one of the 3 that makes sense. And even then its a big stretch.

A xenophobic statement would be "We don't want Polish people because they have horrible music and stink."

"We don't need large scale immigration because we are dealing with unemployment amongst our struggling youth" would not be one.

Results from Luxembourg:

eu2014bsufl.jpg

The ones that got seats:

LSAP - Luxembourg Socialist Worker's Party (S&D)
DP - Democratic Party (ALDE)
CSV - Christian Social People's Party (EPP)
dei Greng - Green Party (Greens-EFA)

Looks like my candidates all got their seat.

Too bad about Vox, I really wanted them to steal the PP's lunch.

It wasn't necessary. What I think happened here is

- PSOE voters, who voted PP in 2011 to punish the Zapatero government, have gone back to vote PSOE. Perhaps some PP voters changed to UPyD.

- Many PSOE voters have voted IU, Podemos and other leftist parties.

And this is pure speculation, but maybe new, young voters have favoured leftist parties.

Maybe you could look past the slogans and into the actions and statements of the UKIP.

Because they are xenophobic and racist AS FUCK.

"Only" 1/10th of us voted for the FN, and that's mainly because other parties didn't do shit to make people interested in the EU. Same goes for national TV - we should have had a le pen/schulz debate, but le pen didn't want to face schulz so schulz got cancelled.

It sucks for us more than for Europe since that means we'll send 24 MPs that will do little more than sit on their asses and collect their check.

they can translate that into more credibility on the national stage though.

nobody cares, but they're going to flaunt those pretty numbers into everyone's faces.

Being against referendums on important matters doesn't mean being against democracy.

Important matters are why referendums happen. Like someone else said, do the fascists have to start winning elections before you guys start getting the message?

yes, it is awful. People are cretins.

The very least, it's a worrying behavior. "I don't like what the majority thinks so don't let them vote" is a pretty good summary of the discussion of those two.

its not even a majority, the turn out is way less than 40%, its the older generations and their lovely xenophobia.

If Nick Griffin holds onto his seat I'll probably explode.

You have a Tony Blair avatar? As far as I know, being a racist fuck like Griffin, is still a bit higher up than a mass murdering traitor.

Some of the generalizations and sweeping statements made about the people voting in these things is a tad vitriolic.

The rise of F.N is really no surprise to a lot of people here, and it can even be further attributed to the clowns currently at the helm of the government.
Not sure what the "socialists" were expecting to be honest.

But UKIP is totally not racist, according to some little eng... gaffers.

It is a stupid poster, they all tend to be, hyperbole rubbish for the most part.

However, where are you getting race from that? 28 million what... black people in your mind? I don't follow, please explain and expand upon how that makes an organisation racist as a whole. As you are accusing these people of being racist and they make up 'little englanders' as you put it, then that makes all of England racists as that element exists right?

That is the logic you and people like you use, which has a hint of irony to it. Anyway, strawman fallacy gonna strawman fallacy.

New exit polls from Italy:

PD - 34.5%
M5S - 25.5%
FI - 17%
NCD - 4.5%
Lega - 6.5%
Tsipras - 4.5%
FDI - 3.5%

But, if last elections taught us something, is that M5S voters just lie.

I don't remember a referendum on the bedroom tax nor university fees. Plenty of important things don't get one. You want a say on what happens, read manifestos and vote accordingly or even better join a political party and get involved.

If they were expecting something after putting Harlem Désir in charge of the european affairs then it's worse than I thought

Founder of the party disagrees, seems to believe people involved in the movement these days are mostly racists.

And just because they try to rebrand themselves it doesn't change their past actions.

The UKIP is largely a racist and xenophobic party.

I am not getting this from a poster or carefully worded slogans, but from countless racist and xenophobic statements, the links of numerous candidates and officials to neonazi scum and the fact that Nigel Farage himself used to enjoy singing Nazi songs back in his youth. That poster may not be explicitly racist, but it fits wonderfully into a greater context than only the most mentally sequestered voter would fail to recognize.

According to the first projections, PD has actually reached 40%, that would be an unexpected triumph for Renzi, which would legitimate his leadership and arguably make Italy's the largest national delegations within the S&D.

Crazy really, usually it's the other way around for left-wing parties in Italy, projections just shattering their dreams.

Yup, those projections just popped up on Repubblica page, while I was checking the actual numbers from Lazio (lol PD more than 49% :D ).

But really, after last year it's impossible to trust polls at all. :(

Neither compare to the whole political set up of a country where you give away the powers the people have given MP's in the first place. That isn't their right to do that without asking, they did it anyway under Labour and the consequences of which many are seeing and not liking.

What manifesto mentioned anything on the likes of the Lisbon treaty? Oh no wait, the conservatives had one (y'know, the ones that got in) but as it was signed already they reckoned they couldn't do it any more.

You are arguing against people having the ability to vote on how their political system is run based on a tax not getting a vote. When that particular issue will get a vote come the general election. Or a schooling system change due to huge debts from a recession, racked up by the Labour party. Which you can vote on, LibDems will probably run with it despite their turnaround. If the main parties had the referendum in the first place, or demanded it for this year or last then UKIP's existence would be redundant. Y'know, listening to people.... god forbid.

GROSS

I may need a table with the turnout in each country to better understand what happened. There's a chance that plenty of people didn't bother to vote and thus gave a massive advantage to the most radical parties.

That would be an earth-shattering result for Renzi. Highest in decades?
