EVE Online |OT| of Internet Spaceships

it's like...

i finally hunker down and do something productive. and as soon as i dock into a station to sell/turn in mission i have to do something stupid to totally end up in the red for that day

Put up a buy order for lulz and forget about it, see a yellow in jita and decide to take pop shots at it. there goes my pod.

REALLY feeling like joining a WH or WH exploration corp. was in null in my explo for a cpl of days, feeling more comfortable.

won me widow in Somer Blink promo.

kinda good since i spent ~200m in isk for tickets...came out to about 400m profit. which again is good, because otherwise it would have been a stupid decision. can't use it for another 80 days though.

Bit over 2 days left for Surgical Strike V. Feel like it may not have been worth it, but I know it is. Especially when you consider that Large Spec Vs are twice as long and only give a 2% bonus for a single weapon specification (not even a the larger category of all large lasers, for example). Minnie BS V gives a 5% increase in damage on a Mach, but is also longer and more specific than SS.

Pretty much capped out on useful gunnery support skills after that. I don't think Trajectory Analysis V is worth the time unless you have nothing else better to train. With Controlled Bursts V - I use projectiles right now so it doesn't matter anyway, but I did the math awhile back and I'm pretty sure the impact is extremely minimal. Only if you fly a lot of laser boats would it be worth considering.

It all depends on what you have and haven't trained. If you fly Machs a lot then absolutely get Trajectory Analysis V, but obviously get Gal. BS V first. As for Controlled Bursts, I guess you don't need it to V in PvE but for PvP it's very good to have, both for hybrids and lasers on Battleships and Dreads. Hybrids actually use a deceptively high amount of cap, because the ships never have cap bonuses like laserboats do and the rate of fire is higher.

Just got my collectors Edition, reacvtivated my four fucking accounts. So now back to screwing around and wait for Rubicon.

The collector's edition is pretty great. I was mostly interested in the book, but ended up liking the soundtrack the best. I can't recommend "Below the Asteroids" enough.

I haven't played EVE in a while because it was bad for my stress level and sleep patterns.

That said, it's been years, and the CE is...really really tempting.

I wish there was a way to buy JUST the book (and maybe the soundtrack) and not end up with the sub time because I just KNOW I'd fall back into it hard and my work would suffer.

How IS the book? Is it shit hot? It LOOKS shit hot.

no guys seriously....i LOVE blink

Charon get! that's 2 promos within 1 week

EDIT: today was a good day. dread guristas thermic field from a random guristas den in 0.6 space. Im going to do the random anomalies for fun!

Man I want to do anomalies but I hated probing. messing with those damn spheres. Have they made it any better?

If you haven't probed since before Odyssey, it's way easier for a couple reasons. Main one being that there are default probe formations that are created when you launch them so you don't have to spend 2-3 minutes just diddling with that shit when you enter a new system.

The skills are more new-player friendly as well with a lot more power concentrated in the base Astrometrics skill, which you'll want at V ASAP.

Check the Odyssey patch notes or look for an article on the subject for more detailed specifics.

yeah as falcon wrote, it's hella easier to probe now. My alt is a probing specialist since the new hacking mini-game is a hit or miss, and you need t2 modules if you dont want to shoot yourself.

Also, the guristas den i found it in didn't need probing. all anomalies automatically appear in your d-scan fully warpable.

i was just sitting on station and popped out and saw it was a den. i do anomalies when im bored or waiting for something to do or want to test out a ship.

the other day i had one escalate into nullsec unfortunately, but the concurring mission dropped a small shield booster than paid off a fully fit Drake i had.

new Milestone, T2 Heavy assault missiles my first t2 medium weapons! Also won an RNI and plex in somerblink. Went back to incursions to pay for my modules since i got about 3 months from blink.

really really good cpl of weeks. also have a stash of interdictors/interceptors for sale come november. *crossing my fingers*

still lonely tho ;-;

I no longer have time or money to keep playing and I need a new laptop to run this decently

if I cancel my subs can I get them back with all my skills like a year or so later?

can you do incursions? if you can dedicate about 6-8 hours (not dont back to back) a month you can afford a plex.

i do 2 incursion runs (total ~60m) in about 30 minutes when i get home from work or its late at night before i go to bed so i can afford the plex at the end of the month. Depending on how the next day goes i can go a little further. anything more funds my modules and such.

if you need help into how to do incursions send me a holler ingame.

I just restarted playing eve. All I know is how to ninja salvage in high sec with an Imicus and a catalyst.

I resubbed yesterday and I'm looking for a Corp, preferably with a strong 0.0 presence. I have 40+ M skill points. US timezone. Anyone looking for an guy?

This new ghost sites thing sounds cool. Finally player-made implants!

Definitely sounds like they've got a lot cooking up over there. New expansions should be really exciting.

I'm not sure if today's EVE event was a success or a failure.

I spent more than an hour jumping in Time Dilation because of the huge number of ships.
I got to within 2 solar systems and word spread that a huge fleet was gate camping the entrance. So I spent the next hour one system over docked at a station waiting for news.

I've never been to low security space nor a fleet fight so this was all new to me.

Apparently it was Goonswarm and they killed 700 ships about at the gate. Then they started moving towards higher sec and cleaning up at every gate.

I decided to head for high sec and I had to manually do every jump and warp to make sure I was fast enough to get away from any attackers. Came close a couple of times to being shot down but I made it home in the end.

been doing exploration with my alt scanning and me running in my tengu.

Had to invest in a Cerberus because T3 cruisers are not allowed 4/10 and below ;-;

and by the time i switched to my cerberus someone got the site.

then i started finding other ded sites but they only allowed destroyers and below, and since i dont have access to any t2 frigates im forced to use a cormorant.

Man, having to speed tank in a frig using t2 small hybrids....it's certainly a different style of play that im used to. I was used to the sit my ass and shield tank while raining missiles of doom on pve.

now i have to actually keep tracking speed, transversal, and distance.

I'm lazy and lately have just been playing Skill Queue Online. But even my alt account is good for another month and my main for much longer so I don't have to worry about much. Got a good amount of ISK in the bank as well (and assets to sell if I needed to) to go for even longer without generating income, not to mention a large chunk of Concord LP I have yet to cash out.

That's my update for now. Currently working on some skills for the new SOE frigate coming with Rubicon, and I may move on to stuff for the SOE cruiser next, though I've been considering T2 large hybrids for a Vindicator, especially with the changes coming it would only take ~21 days for Blaster Spec IV. That's more of a "fun" route though since I can already run Incursions perfectly fine in my Machariel, just might be picked up a bit more with that as an option. Not to mention the initial purchase of a Vindicator would set me back around 2-3bil for ship + decent fittings since I wouldn't be "trading in" my Mach for it. Could get AWU V or something else more universally applicable in the same timeframe.

Lost the cerberus on through a low sec island. this makes it 3/4 ships ive lost doing complexes in low sec.

i notice the ship too late, panic and fumble my fingers trying to figure out what to do, next thing i know i'm tackled and they do 600+ dmg to my measly 100 on them. *sigh*

and the kicker is that i forgot to insure the hull.

EDIT:

Almost lost my TENGU to a gatecamp.

I even had my alt perched on the gate to see when they warped off, but as soon as i jumped they arrived and instan-locked me. I got hella mad at myself and mentally prepared myself to lose the tengu with all the faction mods and my highest skill, but in a stroke of inspiration i noticed they only warp scrammed me, they didnt web me. so i burnt out all my mods and hijacked it back to gate.

i thank my lack of willpower in fighting them for giving me the chance to escape in hull since i didnt engage.

FRIENDLY REMINDER:

RUBICON; EVE's NEXT UPDATE IS GOING LIVE TOMORROW:

SET A 2+ DAY LONG SKILL QUEUE IN CASE OF MAJOR SCREWUPS!!

to infinity and BEYOND!

also incursions just got a hell of a lot more drama filled and tougher (some are requiring t2 guns only and some Battleships have been taken off the acceptable list)

I am not prepared.

And T2 guns isn't that harsh of a requirement now that it only takes the large gun training to V to hit the specs - you don't have to deal with the medium and small guns + specs which added another 20+ odd days. Especially since you should have the Large guns to at least IV before even thinking about stepping into an incursion fleet.

It's still cheaper to go to GreenManGaming.com, buy a 60-day ETC and use their 20% off code: GMG20-ODON7-FLUA7

Ends up at $28 USD for 2 plex.

So anybody try the new stuff yet? SOE ships? Ghost sites? Deployables?

Haven't logged in since patch, but I'll probably grab one of the SOE ships, probably the frigate, and see if I can find any ghost sites. I did get Gallente Frigate V before the patch to go with my Amarr Frigate V, as well as T2 small lasers, so I have that pretty much maxed out.

Alt has 48 hours left on Weapon Upgrades V. She'll have a real nice base set of skills after I finish Adv. Weapon Upgrades IV. Not sure where to build her ship-wise though, or at least where to spec first.

I heard frigates are NOT recommended for ghost sites since apparently once the cans explode they do 900+ pure explosive damage, and the rats are thermal. also the timers are random enough (90 secs to 2 mins) that doing them solo is a guarantee for can explosions.

Planning on getting back to EVE.
Yesterday i logged in to account management to check something. Logged in later that day again for some reason... but i couldn't. Forum claimed account banned (after a year-long hiatus, wtf?). Contacted customer support... and apparently my account had been banned because i had clicked wrong link a few months ago when i updated my email.
Don't know if such has happened to you but i reckon most would be equally shocked to find their account banned for no apparent reason.

---

To the actual stuff:
Anyway, the issue is now resolved and i'll probably start in a few weeks, though i'll start with a new character as i like playing around with the EVE's avatar editor. Also, probably want an Amarr character (or a Caldari), current one's Gallente but US-of-France-Space doesn't really resonate with me (i'm something of a roleplayer so this stuff matters).

But what to do? I'm a mercenary and a pirate in my hearth, though i probably won't have means for that right away. And it is possible it is the freedom those two professions have that truly attract me rather than what they really are (i wonder if i actually could just shoot and loot individual players just for the sake of it).
So, perhaps exploration? Is it profitable? I don't mind small profit, as long as i can keep on flying and working toward bigger ships. Are exploration frigates best things for exploration (not counting the beautiful and expensive Rubicon SOE ships) or are they just for beginners, what else would be a good ship? Arbitrator, Vexor? (Too bad Caldari do not have good versatile solo cruisers, Caracal is beatiful but mostly a mission runner, Osprey and Moa are so ugly i won't touch them, and Blackbird is pretty much fleet ewar and nothing else, right?)
And what about wormholes? Exploring them sounds like fun but... well, dangerous. What does one need for them?

You can join EVE-UNI to get a taste of everything till you decide whats your niche maybe? thats what i would recommend.

Exploration is a hit or a miss. You have to go to null-sec to get to the low population spots to find sites. Or risk low sec, but everyone and their grandmother seems to be in FW so every gate jump is a risk in losing your loot/ship. Sometimes i spend a cpl of hours and make 90m at most, other nights i make 150M+ in a cpl of jumps with lots of relic sites dropping t2 salvage. Its all relative. if you need cash definitely look into incursions for a while, but theres a bit of drama going on.

exploration frigates are the popular choice since they move fast, you dont fight anything in relic/data sites, but getting locked by any pirate = instant death. But not that big of a loss isk wise. SO stick to those. you might also want decent exploration skills. EVen with t2 analyzers and lvl 4 cov ops and rigs raising my hacking, nullsec cans are a B.

BUT WHATS THE POINT OF PLAYING IF NOT WITH A LITTLE RISK TO KEEP THINGS INTERESTING!!

EDIT: Level 1 mastery in almost all ships i fly just because i don't have ECM skills for my combat ships or drones...CCP pls....

Yeah the new mastery/certificate stuff is a little wonky. Still not a fully accurate representation of ability, especially given how narrowly specialized you can get.

Won't join EVE-UNI. I'll take advantage of their wiki (rather good) but i won't join them. Too many rules and regulations and requirements, too regimented and organized.

Incursions seem to be something that need more people, not solo-stuff.

Guess i'll take a risk and try low-sec exploration, at first, since they're rather empty, IIRC. FW people... eh, i'll manage. Low-cost (and skill) fit so i won't lose too much if i get shot.
It'll be interesting to see if i my luck holds in this game, while i don't have particularly good loot luck, i often manage to survive in situations (usually of my own making too) that aren't very good. If it holds, will be useful in exploration i reckon, or with FW gatecamps.

Won a scorpion Navy Issue Promo!

woo only took 600 tickets this time! I seem to attract caldari ships! (being caldari is a boon though). So far have RNI, Charon, SNI, and Widow. waiting on that rattlesnake and Golem win so i can complete the sub-cap ship list won for almost free :D

Did GAF have a corp? Or is there any corp with many gafers? Or is someone here in a corp that would accept new, casual players? As noted, interested in exploration.
And probably start in December.

Yes, sort of. No. Maybe? I'm just in a corp with myself and an alt at the moment, so I can do Incursions in peace without having to worry about wardecs or anything. I've never really been in a real corp besides the GAF one which was short-lived in terms of activity. But I haven't really played in the past 6-8 weeks besides updating my skill queues. Have enough ISK to last awhile.

--

Unrelated, training my alt so I can sit in an Astero for ship spinning purposes. Right now she's just in an Amarr shuttle. Might get back into playing the market more since that doesn't take long to mess with each day, whereas when I sit down to do Incursions, I want to be there for at least a couple hours.

I'm in the Giant Bomb corp which is pretty rad. We've been living out in null for quite some time and have a solid active player base. We joined the Brave Newbies Alliance not too long ago and we seem to be one of the more experienced corps...they've been great when we needed help establishing ourselves in null though, and provide for some larger scale battles when you're in the mood for that.

Join the neogaf chat. We need more in there.

Anyways I haven't been doing too much. Like others Ive been mostly logging on to update my skills.

My alliance is in drone space.. Im not sure if I am just misinformed or what but drone space seems like it sucks. I planned on doing exploration stuff and manufacturing from what I get from those. But drone space seems like the absolute worst for that.. I don't think there is hack/relic sites? Someone told me there is but Ive yet to see one. Yet if I fly down to non drone space areas I find some easy.

So not having a ship powerful enough to run drone sites I don't really see much ways to actually make money till then..

On my other character I'm almost ready to get involved in the war. Training a Ewar ship to start out.
