Off cast, try to get as many internationals on stream as you can. Although they're skill level may be unknown, they travelled a long way and being on the big stage is a big deal

Keep SF at the end please. It deserves it being the grandfather of fighting games today, and still the biggest game worldwide, with the greatest international appeal and being a game in active development.

I like Marvel being earlier, and at a more reasonably time, in case Infiltration decides to run a train again or we get what happened last year in terms of scheduling.

Nope, but I sorta wish I did by the end of it. Rewatching it in the past few days affirmed my belief it was as bad as it is. It's a shame because the year before SF was so incredibly hype, I can't even choose whether it was more hype than Marvel or not.

EDIT: No Thursday event this year confirmed by Mr. Wizard.

What I've learned about hype and AE. If an American is not in it or a heel getting blown up is not hype.

Nah man Gamerbee vs Daigo. No heels, no Americans, just great play.

AE is hype when the matches are equal and the games close. You can say that about pretty much every fighter though. Having international rivalry though makes it even more hype.

I enjoy the matches. Top 32 to 8 was hella hype and highest level of AE i've ever seen. If you don't see any fan favorites/Americans in top 8 you will see numbers dwindle again.

Seeing some stuff posted on TYM...I'm betting you can expect some relatively unrepresented cast from Injustice to start popping up for EVO. I'm seeing more than just Harley too...Nightwing, Catwoman and Hawkgirl seem to have a few odd backers and one guy even seems to claim to have found some Lobo tech.

Folks are gonna be debuting a lot of cast during this one. I can't wait to see what happens to them all on stream.

That would only really leave international unknowns, which would be very exciting

Gamerbee was like "who was that guy" that year- few knew who he was before Evo, so that made it hype.

Injustice is probably the game with the most STSFN stuff out of all the games at EVO. It's a new, relatively unexplored game.

2nd game after that is SFxT. I want to see the specialists wreck havok. I know people are always expecting new hidden tech in Marvel but this time around there is far less noise about people holding on to stuff. Even then I saw people like GC Yoshi and Taekua doing new stuff at WMW like Taekua counter picking flying characters with the Taskmaster Up arrows and GC Yoshi had a new full screen Magnum confirm combo. Apologyman also improved his FB play, he was confirming combos off of stray fireballs. I think you will see stuff like that EVO, not blatant new tech just newer strategies, more optimized combos and more utilization of underused but known tech.

I still can't believe we don't see more Nightwings. He has some really stupid setups.

Chris G doesn't wanna play Marvel at EVO?? Kadey, this is gonna be the easiest 100 dollars I ever made.... except that one time in Tijuana with the donkey.

You mean that you don't make money off of playing fighting games? Yeah, that is the truth. But that isn't what makes it a terrible (and hilarious) interview.

Yeah, after hearing the whole thing I get it now... but I agree overall with what he meant. When he started to talk about how his being too good could be killing the scene, it was an interesting angle to consider. He's not exactly articulate, and he didn't form the most coherent of arguments, but you can see where he's coming from.

AE should be last and have the spotlight since it's so international. Marvel is basically the American game, so it's a bit selfish to make it the main event.

Articulation is definitely not his strong point.

No it's not. it's something out of a stream chat.

Ok, let me preface this by saying it doesn't apply to serious fighting game players... so this might seem like a complete moot point but hear me out...

People hate to lose. If they can identify a player who is so good that losing is a forgone conclusion (justin wong factor aside) some would just as soon not play at all, or just half ass it knowing there's no chance.

It happened to me a few months back. I tried to get my cousin and his friends into fighting games, as a way to get a local scene going and also to pull some genuinely good players from other genres into the fgc. We had a few good months, but once everyone identified me as a default win, they would rather leave than play me. So I'm sitting here, the one in the room who loves the game the most, and I'm basically torn between playing it and driving away other players, or sitting around and not playing much at all. We went from having weekly marvel/sf nights with 10+ people to now just me and one dude who isn't even my cousin. He's getting good now, but he was always a good gamer and he has the dedication and determination to see past a single win or loss. He, like many of us, is the exception.

I didn't want to get anecdotal about it, but there it is.

Again, this doesn't apply to a serious player, one who relishes a challenge. This applies to humanity at large. So maybe it's not killing the scene, but it's counter productive to expanding the scene.

"STSFN" is too long. Should be something like "OFN". The current abbreviation sounds like a Korean boy band.
Damn you Solar now I have to watch this again.
That is what you get for posting an eighty minute long Maruken slaughterfest. Every single time I load up chrome it sits there taunting me for not finishing it.

For a local? Yeah I can see that. A lot of people wouldn't bother to show up to NL every week just to donate money to Chris G, especially if they didn't like him.

You have to enjoy what you are doing after all.

The thing is the FGC doesn't live or die by what happens on Wednesday night in one city and there is nothing Chris G can do about that.

The answer is to just watch it like me!

The amount of 'dumb' stuff in this Kusoru/Steve H set is so good.

Day is almost here! Gotta pack up soon but need some last minute SFxT practice. rawr

I hear that, I'm still getting tons of Marvel practice even though that's not until Saturday and I'll probably practice some Friday night.

Really hope Offcast can Illuminati card me onto the stream, lol.

Thanks everyone who helped. I'll definitely try to get more of the internationals onstage during Marvel. Its kinda crazy how many hidden killers are in that game!

Also if Marvel or Injustice are too hype, people are going to be exhausted by the time AE rolls around. Same thing happened last year.

Despite Marvel getting me into fighting games, and not actually really being a fan of Street Fighter for a while (huge fan now, of course), I want SF last. International competition and a good Street Fighter match is fantastic.
