Actually honestly want to know, how do they resolve these sorts of issues at sporting events or other things with commentary that would normally be held at arenas like this? As far as I can tell we're not getting crowd audio because the stream commentators are also being piped into the arena, so every time they unmute/turn up the crowd we get echo/reverb from the commentary. But how is this not always a problem? Is there just usually just a different set of commentators for TV versus in-house or what? 100% agree people actually physically there should get priority, just not sure why this seems to be an issue since this has to be a solved problem?

Also yes this is extremely relevant for anyone not there since game audio is low, commentators sound like they're intentionally speaking very quietly, and they cut to people on-stage being introduced or Steven interacting with the crowd and viewers are getting dead silence. Makes it sort of hard to enjoy what everyone is watching.

People just gotta deal with the fact that we can't get crowd audio because they are piping the commentary out to them. Experience of the crowd is more important than the people watching on stream in this case. Sucks, but that's how it goes sometimes.
What the hell? You can do both, many events do that

There are plenty of LoL, Counter-Strike, Starcraft and DOTA tournaments held in venues like this. The crowd, game and commentators are more often than not all balanced and audible for both the stream and the attending audience. There's no excuse for the shitty sound here.

Usually you don't pipe the commentary out to the audience at the event.

No non-escorts events don't use commentator audio at the event that I can think of. Thank god for that also

It's not like watching more of it will make it less hideous.

I meant paying attention to the fact that people who actually care about the game had gotten over the graphics looking mediocre as a tradeoff for content a while ago already, and the whole "lololol PS2 graphix" is so played out at this point it's just shitposting.

The commentators are loud, there is no way for them not to be picked up on the crowd mics.
Unless you want to turn down the commentators so much they sound like whispers in the arena.

I'm sorry but nearly all production companies know how to deal with that. Even a lot of amateur people.
Fact is, production (video, sound mixing, etc) and logistics are terrible this year. They don't care at all.

I hope they get the audio fixed in time for ESPORTS, otherwise it will be a bad showing for the FGC in the spotlight.

So at events is there usually a separate in-house commentary or would it just be nothing but game audio + whoever is on stage with a mic? Not trying to belabor the point here, just honestly curious since I'm baffled as to why this is happening exactly.

That's no excuse, more established #esports don't have a problem with this predicament

That's the thing. This is their first time doing it. Remember that the FGC is still poverty status. You can't compare those companies with millions of dollars to a group of normal guys trying to run EVO.

This is not any kind of explanation or excuse. A decent sound mixer can make that work easily, and even if they decided it still wasn't good enough during matches, they can keep it down during match commentary and then turn the crowd audio up when they cut to on-stage presenters hyping the crowd or presenting awards. The utter silence during those shots is mortifying.

Letting the crowd hear the commentary is great, but that doesn't mean they aren't dropping the ball on production elements in addition to that. There's no excuse for the silence during the on-stage shots.

Uhh what? Normally there is no broadcast commentary being piped to the crowd at sporting events, what the hell are you talking about?

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
People saying they mute the crowd but maybe they aren't loud enough? i mean it's a huge hall.
