The people I'm disagreeing with (such as you and FUME5) all want the exact same thing I do (preventing people from hiding behind the term "troll"), I just disagree that claiming that they are doing something different helps.
In theory you'd be able to label the other shitty people with the more negative term but they're going to continue to hide behind the original term.
It happens with negative terms like racism "no it can't be racism, I was giving a compliment" "no it's not racism I was making a joke" etc

I think what she's saying is that "trolling" is stubbornly looked on as somewhat harmless by a lot of older netizens (lol) but it is increasingly being used to do extremely vile things to people. The longer we accept the innocent parts of trolling as the true definition the more some of the vile things done have a shared protection under the term "trolling"

It also encourages impressionable dicks to think that the true definition of "trolling" is making threats until people cry, and then they get confused when the consequences are more harsh than what they'd assume for simple "trolling"

Most probably do, but it takes all kinds in the military and eventually, when on deployment in some structure erected in the middle of nowhere with spotty internet access at best, you'll want to beat off to something.
