I can understand that. That's partially why the riddler is my favorite. Though he isn't exactly a hero most of the time either but he can be. The selfishness of the motivations of villains makes them more personal. For him specifically, upstaging batman is related to his insecurities, generally recognition for his intelligence.

I don't care for a similar character to him without that side with moriarty from Sherlock. Doesn't seem to have any real motivation and is just there to be sherlocks adversary. Zero reason to root for him.
I guess moriarty(from Sherlock) might be more like joker. Don't care for joker much as a character either. He can be a good plot device at times but he always seems like a static character

I'm planning on going for a Masters but I'd like to get a year or two of work experience first.

I actually really like the Riddler as an anti-hero - particularly how he was after Hush. The New 52 thing wiped that away unfortunately.

I'm so tired of the Joker. Just the old rogues gallery in general. I was so excited for Dick as Batman for that reason. But once again. New 52. :p

Work does a great job of putting schoolwork in context imo. And making money. Probably a good choice

I definitely wouldn't like him primarily as an antihero but from time to time it fits him well. He's not evil or good, just very egocentric

Hey at least you got court of owls. That's not old rogues :p
I like the use of old rogues just cause familiarity with the character allows you to do more when you flesh them out. Definitely a point when there have been more than enough stories told about them though.
How is the best way to have a good new villain anyway? I have an idea for a hero comic but I can only nail the hero's civilian life down. I can't figure out what powers would be interesting and I especially can't figure out how to give any weight to a new villain

I stopped reading at New 52 so I have no idea how the Court of Owls are. :p

My method for choosing powers for villains is asking myself: What's the worst possible scenario for this hero and their power set? Okay, that's what the villain is going to be able to do.

I was working on a superhero comic with my cartoonist friend but recently someone published something with the same title and similar idea. Very different tone though. :(

I've only read parts so far. Most of it was through batgirl (yeah I know not oracle. I still liked it even if this wasn't ideal oh and I guess that's one Gail Simone thing I've read)

I'm sorta trying to do that but I he's up with things that fit with everyone. Illusionist, dream manipulator, mind reader etc definitely fit when the main character is trying to hide something but that fits pretty much all comic book characters with a secret identity (also no power set yet for the mc makes that difficult)

Like the people here say, what matters is execution :D
But same title is really unfortunate :/



Somewhat related to making comics but I just realized that I'm better at sketching with physical media and better at online with digital. Need to buy me a scanner

I had a series of fucked up dreams last night.

One dream I was a child and my classmates were as well, and there was this giant library on the top of this mountain and it was a long series of library hallways and we were just children and escaping it and then midway I became an adult and I was in a white building with a garage and there were a plastic torso in the opaque windows and blocking my way.... then I woke up

I need to start over a dream journal.

Hahaha thanks. If only you had fb you could have seen my beautiful blue hair last weekend. I think being so god damn white helps with the bright colors suiting me lol
