I apologize PC brothers: Pc games is much cheaper than consoles in the long run.

IntentionalPun

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
I’m too big of a spender on hardware to make this true.

But the nice thing about PC gsming is options.

Of course sometimes the nice thing about consoles is the limited options makes it just easier to deal with.

I play on both consoles and PC though so feel zero need to warrior about any of it.

Amazon prime Games are insane recently... If you have Amazon prime I would be adding to account, PC or no PC.
Same with epic. Epic Christmas free games are coming up soon as well you would think.

The free game situation on PC is absolutely crazy, not to mention the sales.

I'm new to the pc world after being a life long console gamer. (mid 40's)

Yes the initial cost is high if you want a decent rig (mine will be around $1100 all in but I figure a console times X years of ps + will be close to the same.) I have even seen crazy black friday deals like pre-builts with a 4060 in them for $700. This thread isn't about the hardware though it's about the software.

So I did my research before I started getting my game collection up and decided I was not going to stick to one store front. I will have a 4070 so will probably use the Geforce experience as my front end. (normally you can scan your pc and it will put all installed games,) The other sweet thing is some game it will optimize them for you with a click of a button. I have used gg.deals and store fronts like GOG and shopping sales when I can. I was shocked to discover how much I have acquired for so little cost. Keep in mind that new games on the PS5/Xbox are starting at $69.99 but they love the upsell special editions for $99.99. My god is PC gaming so much cheaper than I thought possible. These aren't games I lose access too if I stop paying a subscription fee. These are games that I "digitally own." I will Provide the Library I have acquired of a span less than 2 weeks and reveal the shocking cost of it all.

Cyberpunk 2077+ the Phantom Liberty DLC
BioShock Remastered
Balatro
Sea of Stars
Kararte Survivor
Doom Eternal
Hi-Fi Rush
Sunset Overdrive
3D Mark (it's $30 now but got it for $5)
Disco Elysium
Alchemest Adventure
Conarium
Dome Keeper
The Final Station
God's Trigger
The Outer Worlds
Teardown
Moonscars
House of golf 2
Death's Door
Super Meat Boy

I was going over my paypal account and I thought fuck me man, I must of spent a fortune buying these games. Yes many are Indie but almost all are highly regarded. I was expecting to calcuate some crazy number but was shocked when I caluclated it:

I got all of the above games and again not tied to a subscription service for: $125.20

I always thought Pc gaming was for rich elitist but am quickly learning that in the long run it is cheaper. My apologies!
It’s not less expensive, studies have shown that. A big contributing factor is pc gamers buying so many games on steam etc that they never play. Mix that in with an average upgrade tempo of just under 3 years and PC gaming ends up more expensive on average.

I totally disagree. The up front cost is high but after that pc pays off. The rare tech freak who has to have the cutting edge technology is the rare exception. Console you buy cheaper but pay more in the long run. Pc also offers freedom and choice.

Welcome my friend. You'll be swimming in cheap and free games. Steam discounts during sales, and Epic store gives away free games every week, sometimes even big titles. Then there are sites like Humble Bundle, Fanatical, and GMG where you can grab bundles or heavily discounted games. You can also find cheap keys on marketplaces like CDKeys or Eneba. Plus, subscription services like Game Pass or Humble Choice let you play tons of games.

This was people that play PC games at least once a week or once every two weeks. Though you’re not going to find disagreement from me that the PCMR tech enthusiasts are a net negative to the hobby as a whole.

PC is also more fun than consoles (in my opinion), because of the upgrading, twiddling with hardware, freedom for adjustments, mods etc.
And of course the ability to play games in the best way possible (if your hardware is up for it)
And yeah, I know that the upgrading, adjusting etc is also what lots of gamers DON'T like about pc's. Others seem to hate PC's because the high end GPU's are...(mildly shocked).. expensive!!

The only thing that should be of importance for any gamer, is to be satisfied with the gaming setup available for YOU.
Everything else and opinions from everyone is useless noise.

And yeah, I also have a Playstation 5 (Pro) and will obviously get the new Nintendo day one, so no need for any warriors to pick up the pitchforks.

PC though? *chef's kiss*

Yes, pc games can get very cheap quickly, there are several sites that track prices from all the big sites + key resellers and sometimes you can get incredible deals. Sometimes you can even get discounts pre-launch which is nice.

Yup, that's me, glad that I'm not the only one, plus I pay extra grand for no particular reason just like how Brazilians pay extra on consoles.

I've been saying this to Console plebs since 2017 since I was once myself. Bros just can't get out of their expensive walled gardens where on top of the net, they also pay for a "live" service 🤣 I have 1000+ Games on Steam (85% of them I wanted to play - but I haven't even started cause you know you will just become a collector now 🫦) and most of them were free keys from a lot of places. And I have Epic and GOG as well. It's insane the value you get from PC. Regional stores make the cost even cheaper.
There's PC gamers that just jumped in and us PC gamers who played during the true golden age. Recent PC gaming is not near as interesting. Having 1000+ indie shovelware means you just have 1000+ piles of digital trash.

I grew up on PC and still PC game. The friends that grew up on it have all but moved on due to how expensive hardware is and because having kids, PC games aren't as easy to play with your kids in a couch co-op situation. For example, try and enjoy Diablo 4 in couch mode on a PC vs a console. There's not even an option on PC.

I swear, the last time PC gaming was truly amazing was when gaming was bringing high end systems to its knees pretty frequently.

I said 85% of the games I wanted to play. What's hard about that? There's shovelware everywhere on consoles too now. And I know you're lying because if Diablo 4 is on Steam its automatically connected to your controller, it even says its compatible. Stop buying from shitty storefronts. Even then you have unofficial apps that support your controller. PC is literally couch gaming central now. You're living in the past still bruv.

Uhm what console generations are 5 years.
It's not a fair comparison and that is the trouble with the PC there's not much universal about it , we all here can have completely different rigs and setups, unlike the standard of a console in a box

With a console everything you need to game is in that new box right down the gaming pad and TV leads, that is not the case with a new PC some don't even come with an OS or even WI-FI or Bluetooth. Buying Windows on its own can be £80 quid or more, never mind a decent gaming pad and anything else you need to get a decent PC running it all add ups and its not just about a CPU or GPU cost

I really get the attraction of the PC and what a good gaming system it is, but a console and PC are not the same, they're not even called the same and I don't get why either side looks to compare them to each other or sometimes feel threatened by each other.

Except you can play it on pc at 4k.. just like bloodborne 4k 60fps.

Emulation is never as good as the real thing for me.
And saying bloodborne is 4k60 is disingenuous as it's missing ton of effects and is a stutter fest after the opening level.
And I played it 10 years ago

Yeh you have a point.

OG hardware evokes that nostalgia feeling.

I have dozens of 8 bit computers, consoles and even an original defender arcade game.

As for Bloodborne being a stuttery mess then that would be true to the original then, so perfect.

From what I've seen it's smooth in the latest release. Not something I'd replay anyway.

Well I feel like calling other people’s backlog a “digital trash” is a clear sign that PC gaming has already won the argument here.

it’s pretty much a sour grape comment, so I don’t think there's a need to prove anything. At the end of the day he’s the one missing out

There is another benefit, when you upgrade one component, you get the graphic upgrade. You don't need to wait for devs to release 'pro' patch
I'll never understand why this is the case with consoles. Imagine spending hundreds on an upgrade and having to be subjected to the dev's patching the game or not.

Hell I'm still waiting for that Bloodborne pro patch for my ps4. :goog_relieved:

i mean.... I'm here.

haven't spent anything on my PC since last year and don't make that many steam purchases

when you have a big backlog and abandonware it's super easy to get away with spending so little

PC games are far cheaper. The amount of free games given away every month alone creates a massive backlog.

Then there’s the crazy good bundle deals that don’t exist on consoles. Keep what you want and SELL (yes, sell) or trade what you don’t.

There’s no comparison.

Lol to your entire post. And lying? I wasn't up to date on the PC version of Diablo 4 because I ignored it on PC after it launched on Bnet and didn't have couch coop support.

My 2nd favorite thing about you types of new PC gamers? You're all a bunch of console warriors. Any PC gamer that console warriors is just a console gamer with extra costs.

this is a great thing about pc gaming though. The power is all with the end user. you COULD buy a PC that would last you a whole generation if you want. Or you can decide to upgrade more frequently. The choice is yours.

You could wait 4 years for an arguably overpriced Pro console which comes with caveats or you can stick with the standard console. You can buy a PC and upgrade when you think it hits the performance you feel is enough to jump in and see a performance upgrade across every one of your games.

Oh yea, thanks for your final absolute assumption about us more "extra costing" console warriors when PC has always been platform agnostic with emulation. Nice try Diddy 🫦

Hence why almost every pc argument needs a *

It's just so flexible and can literally cover a budget of $100 to $6,000 when talking about gaming.

That's why one can say pc gaming has the best version of a port and can compete with consoles prices, But those may not be the same pc that covers both.

I’m one of those people that having those options actively detracts from my experience. I can’t seem to retire that part of my brain.

I notice my frames dropping whether it’s by frame counter or just visually and I’m like oh well I gotta fix that. It’s annoying.

And then there are the PC gamers who are still playing games on 1050/1060 GPUs from eight years ago. That qualifies as an austere PC gamer in my book.

Dave Ramsey is a console gamer.

Dave Ramsey wouldn't give a flip if someone paid "hundreds" on PCs or consoles as long as they could afford it and paid cash.

PC version still the best even if your PC can't be up to that version as the potential of that version is still there.

Thanks man, Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. And no, I'm in a Facist country at the moment trying to survive. Can't go back to Canada cause inflation and its India 2.0, just thinking about the smell is enough for me. And waiting for Trump to take office. I can't stand Liberals so I've decided to live out my days dependent on Crypto until I come back with my Polyglot wife and our combined 6 nationalities to just give up our US passports. The IRS needs to be abolished or I ain't coming back. Bastards want taxes no matter where you are.

Everything to game and play is in the Box with a console as standard, right down to a TV lead. So one can send gran out to buy it and you've no issues on Christmas day.

There is no such standard to a PC and where Gran wouldn't have the 1st clue over Windows never mind Blue Tooth or Wi-FI

Ignorance is bliss....
