(for context, people managed to be in the same location at the same time as eachother, already, and simply couldn't see eachother)
I told you this guy was basically Moly Jr. Been saying it forever and would always get yelled at for it. I have such great people intuition it's crazy
To be fair I'm sympathetic to the nature of gamedev and how things change and how people ask questions you may not have final answers for, but still
Please don't.Can't wake up
Please no.The next subtitle for the thread has to be Can't Wake Up.
Please don't.
Please no.
That's where I'm at. I'm actually really looking forward to Friday, plus hopefully the mod community is awesome for it.Split between the circlejerk and the pitchforks.
Whatever, I think I'll enjoy it, and then enjoy it much more in 2017 when they've patched all the shit in.
That's like Hillary email-scandal level of controversy. It's just people who want to hate the game latching onto whatever they can instead of actually talking about what real problems there are with the game as delivered. If a feature isn't listed at the point of sale then it doesn't need to be in the thing.
Talking about the missing multiplayer in a game where the devs stressed that multiplayer would be rare and impractical (possible or not) is stupid.
So many 'gamers' just have no fucking clue about how anything in this world works.

He has it all wrong.Trump just wants to take America back to when it was great - you know, when politicians actually shot at each other.
I didn't expect it to be a multiplayer game. But the guy did go on multiple talk shows -- He went on television -- And said you could see other players. He said you could play with your friends. That's not like some little incidental thing from a movie that got changed in editing later. That's just "shit that's not true" and he said it during multiple appearances.
Minecraft had multiplayer.
Right, and this is where transparency is important because it just sounds like a lie. Maybe it was planned and it got cut but Sean shouldn't have implied otherwise, or at least stuck to the narrative that player interactivity was borderline impossible and not verify anything else outside of that.
Don't recall him ever saying you could play with your friends. What are you referring to?
And to EatChildren's point, after seeing someone complain that people were using outlets at an airport I think I'm totally done at being surprised by people's reactions to anything anymore.

This guy has come off to me as kind of Molyneuxy from the start, and so when major features he bragged about on major platforms are simply missing from the game it's easy for me to draw conclusions. Easier when I find the game really boring.
And yes, development can be fluid, sometimes features get cut. But saying "you can play with your friends" multiple times then it just not being true isn't nothing.

At a fraction of the size of NMS though, and with the option to host servers.
wow i love booze
Didn't realize the link was to a post with links to videos, thought it was to that thread in general.Watch the video Jobbs linked.
Is it Friday or Saturday for PC? I want to know so I can play it, get bored, and enjoy shitting up the OT.
This sort of backlash was expected, but I still think it's silly that it's latched onto a feature that wasn't prominent to the game's pitch.
Listen. I'm sensitive to the reality that in game dev features can change or be cut. But you can't really just give a free pass to this. "Can you play with your friends?" is such a major, elemental question about a game, and one that everyone understands. You have to be more careful with your words on stuff like this or you come off like a bullshit artist.
I understand about how you need to keep it succinct and not speak in legalese every second, but when it comes to such a major question you should know if it's a thing or not being answering.
I don't understand how you can't get a moly vibe out of this guy. All of his analogies about the size of the universe -- it'd take eight million years for every person on earth playing around the clock to see 1/10 of the planets in the game -- or whatever -- it's just bullshit for dumb people. You could say the same thing about seeing every combination of creature options in Spore. By that standard you'd never see every possible level in Spelunky even if you played for a hundred billion years.
Looks like early Saturday morning.
Was there any update or statement regarding that instance of the two friends going to the same place and not seeing each other? Regarding servers, or feature not implemented, or whatever?I never expected it to be a prominently multiplayer game, but I'll admit that early on one of the things that captured my imagination was sharing a universe where maybe you might have the rare exciting event of seeing another player. That actually was a captivating thought, and it's one that they pedaled.
And it wasn't true.
That said...

I remember when Bungie said that Destiny players would be able to play with their friends cross-platform. I remember when David Jaffe lied about Twisted Metal. Basically don't trust someone whose job it is to make you buy their shit. What lies are you telling Jobbs? Is Ghost Song coming to XBLA instead of PC? Does it require a constant internet connection? Is the VA really Ashley Frangipane? I don't know who to trust anymore.
