This show is very different tonally from Gunbuster, and the CG is not at all good.
That said, they did seem to nail the pacing of the action and the escalation thereof.

They could realize at any point that Ichika sucks colossal amounts of ass and realize they don't have to settle for that loser. But they don't and, given the nature of the show, they won't. So fuck them.
Shame, Charlotte actually started off decently, but then she had Ichika feed her cause fuck if I remember, and that was it for her. Laura starts by pimp-slapping the fool and that's about where I ended, so I can just pretend she didn't sacrifice every redeemable part of her to be around that shit.
Yeah. Not being outraged at their portrayal does not mean you are entertained/are pro the sexualisation of children or are pro-incest.
That just makes me think of some politicians I've heard who have defended their desire to censor the internet with 'so you are in favour of child pornography'.
As for incest, not flipping the table over say Koi Kaze (which I'd argue depicts it in a negative light as it should), does not mean I'm happy about more positive depictions of incest in other anime or media.
You're quite right on it being not much more than a Divine Comedy wannabe, but we felt it was best to watch it first because it provides the background that other movies will reference. It's both weird and entry-level at the same time.

Yeah. Thats been strongly in my mind right throughout this. Of course my memory of the film and book is pretty vague so I'm not sure how much of the old but young looking Claudia there is showing her as a sexual being.

Actually, when it comes to this, the movie focuses on her frustration of never being able to be properly sexualized. She's stuck at her physical age, no matter how mature mentally she may become.
I'd disagree. That's back when I could stomach Cruise.

I think I distinctly remember enjoying this.
Maybe my memory is bad but I don't think there ever was a scene where Claudia was sexually depicted.
I actually haven't. I'l try watching this later tomorrow.
Like I said, it addressed the unfairness at her never being able to. It's a situation where the open-and-shut is no longer open-and-shut, but we'll never have to truly worry about this, because it's a pure hypothetical.

So I'm actually really enjoying this arc, and seeing things from Hanekawa's perspective. It's sort of eerie how easily she handles some of the things people say to her. Any normal person would've put up a fight during Senjougahara's lecture on being bland and flavorless. The depressing revelation of the episode, though, is that as far as Hanekawa is concerned, nobody gives a damn about her.
It's sort of strange, I guess. On the one hand the show seems preoccupied with breaking the pedestal which Araragi has put Hanekawa on: showing us that she isn't some saint or wonder woman or some such, but at the same time we also see that Hanekawa is a deeply troubled girl who has some severe self-esteem issues. I mean if you were made to live in the hall and thought nobody cared about you and one day you get socked on the jaw in spite of this, and along comes someone who starts telling you how great they think you are, how couldn't you come to love that person in one sense or another?
Basically Araragi was right in saying that Hanekawa is extremely unfortunate. Girl has some seriously bad luck when it comes to like, everything.

Cool battle in this one. I like that the battles feel like real wartime battles, with guerrilla tactics and such, instead of giant robot punch-ups. Not that there's anything wrong with that, and there was even some of that in this episode, but you know what I mean!

I have no clue what they want to do with the story or if it'll be any good, but it looks gorgeous. We need more projects like this.

It's our third Idolranger, Ran, who Aoi can't stop talking about without adding the word sexy in the sentence. She's clearly our slightly traumatized idol who raised higher, but Ichigo is too good for trauma!
Think one thing I'm glad for is that we got a new song to go with this, since they're just been repeating the same one for about 4 episodes now. Granted, it could be due to a change of idol dynamics. But hey, Ichigo is tied with Aoi at least for past auditions! She's equal again!
