Speaking of sales, can someone kindly direct me towards a place where I can buy collections of below shows that aren't chinese bootlegs? I'm not really good at this sort of thing. I was checking rightstuff, but they don't seem to stock the somewhat older stuff anymore.

Azumanga Daioh
Fruits Basket
Full Metal Panic
Genshiken
Kamichu!
Macross Plus
Minami-ke
Mobile Suit: 08th MS Team
Planetes
Samurai Champloo
The Tatami Galaxy
Working!!

Sailor Moon R 08

Rei is popular with the girls then.

It's a school festival episode where Rei does a lot of hard work, Ail and An gets to dress as aliens and even Yuichiro shows up for a split second. There's lots of funny Luna and Artemis faces as well.

Most of these are either long out of print or were never released here in the first place. That being said, Fruits Basket, Full Metal Panic, and Samurai Champloo are available from Funimation. NIS America has season 3 of Genshiken and both seasons of Working.

Funimation titles you can find on Amazon and RightStuf. NIS America titles can be found on both RightStuf and their own website.

Thanks. Man, that is depressing. I thought The Tatami Galaxy got licensed, but no print media has been made as of yet? Minami-ke hasn't even been licensed in any capacity? Criminal.

I'm terribly afraid of ebay because of how common bootlegs are.

It really is. Funimation's sat on the license for The Tatami Galaxy for a while. Hopefully they'll give it a physical release if Ping-Pong does well. Nobody's gone for Minami-ke for whatever reason. I think it would be a good fit for NISA, personally.

ITs pretty easy to buy legit stuff. Look at prices for example. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Rage of Bahamut 6

Good stuff. The plot and character progression in this show really puts most narrative anime these days to shame.

Yup, am really glad there aren't any major pacing issues so far.

I'm rather impressed by how quickly and seamless the overarching bigger story elements were connected to our protagonist's party. While I'm still no fan of this Bahamut threat as major story point I've gotta say the execution so far is good enough to tow me in. The exposition provided by Jeanne d'Arc this time around felt rather natural (apart from her randomly appearing just then I suppose).

My minor qualms this episode:

I'm a bit upset that Favaro and Kaisar didn't really clear up the misunderstanding though. I mean Favaro himself isn't actually responsible for Kaiser's father's death, right? So, please tell him just that, rather sooner than later :/ Still they made up somewhat at least.

For how ridiculously important Amira is, they sure didn't seen to bother securing her well enough. I mean for all I know that seal was supposed to be insanely powerful and the same goes for the two guards but...it looked like they hardly even tried.

I thought I was watching Rinne no Lagrange there for a second.

The finale of splash star is the second best of the whole precure saga ( the last 4 episode build-up is just magnificent )

To think the above isn't even the gayest couple in the splash star run ... well

Can't wait for Shafts foodporn show
Do you mean that Soma adaptation? I thought it was being done by J.C Staff?

I think it bombed :p
It seemed to do between 2.5K and just under 2K per volume but as ultimatemegax would point out this doesn't take into consideration how the anime boosted the sales of the manga and such. From the last time I read D-Frag though, it didn't feel like it had enough material for a full second season though which may be a factor.

Also, Happy Belated Birthday to SeraphisCain (8th Nov)

Mushishi - 04

Powerful and tragic episode. Losing everything you have by your own creation, and live a empty life of misguided guilt before you commit suzuki.
The strong episodic formula makes this show more memorable already than many longer running shows I've seen.

Azumanga Daioh - OOP
Fruits Basket
Full Metal Panic - There's also DVD sets
Genshiken - Various S1 DVDs are OOP, OVAs are bundled with Kujibiki Unbalance set, S2 appears to still be available, and The Second Generation (aka S3) is on pre-order.
Kamichu! - OOP, but the OST is available
Macross Plus - Not familiar with this series so I hope I linked to the correct pages.
Minami-ke - Why isn't this licensed! - You could import the BD-boxes as that's what I did.
Mobile Suit: 08th MS Team - Probably going to have wait until Right Stuf puts up pre-orders for the DVDs after announcing their parentship to release Gundam with Sunrise.
Planetes - OOP
Samurai Champloo - DVD set also available
The Tatami Galaxy - Not licensed, but there's also the option to import like Minami-ke.
Working!! - S1 DVD standard edition and S2 Blu-ray premium edition

Here's some links, but I stuck with Right Stuf as I don't order anime anywhere else.

Are there any other recent space opera style shows? I've seen Macross f, just wondering if there's anything else that might pique my interest in the genre before I move to something else.

Do you mean besides Yamato 2199?

Don't know If you've been watching it or something.

Edit: not being on phone would have made that obvious

Space Battleship Yamato 2199 #26

It's over. Their mission and the first part of the Yamato series is finished. What a show, everything about it hit the right spot for me and I loved every single second of it. That ending though, my eyes are leaking fluid and I don't know why ;_;
The movie is only a few months away!

Celestial Method is probably your best bet. I also think you'd like Yona of the Dawn, although it's a bit more epic fantasy.
Oh right, Sora no Method is the show that sort of sounds like a scifi Non Non Biyori.

Thanks much! Shame international shipping isn't free. :p

How do you guys convince yourselves to get the Japanese BD sets? I hear some have English subtitles like Gurren Lagann (which by the way is more than $500!), but I assume shows like Minami-ke and Tatami Galaxy don't, in which case it's impossible to enjoy the show fully unless you know Japanese.

Yeah, the last two episodes were especially good, great final battle. It seems like in most of the Precure series, they only leave one episode for the final battle and they spend all but 5 minutes psyching themselves up to fight.

It's best to just check to see which sets have English subtitles; most don't, but some do. I guess some people like to own sets even if they can't properly watch them. You're right that in the case of Tatami Galaxy and Minami-ke, they're not subtitled. I'm really hoping that both are picked up for a home video release at some point.

Ergo Proxy 10

cytotropism - 1. cell movement in response to external stimulation.
------------------2. the tendency of viruses, bacteria, drugs, etc., to exert their effect upon certain cells of the body
themoreyouknow.jpg

Deadalus kept surprising me throughout the episode. He seems almost as deranged as Raul even if she's on the good side.

I'm mightily confused after all the reveals from this episode. Something tells me it's not for the last time. Between the Cogito virus, the repeated "therefore" from the council as well as the titular Ergo Proxy, there's definitely something fishy going on. Though whether it is a cheap homage to Descartes, some important plot point or a 2deep4me philosophical theme I've got no clue.

Yeah besides Yamato. I guess that and Macross are the main two Space Opera style animes. I might finally start on Gundam, any ideas on where the heck I should start? o_O

Chaika AB 5

So another girl joins the team, this one is shonen power up in disguise for Chaika which is pretty cool if extremely goofy looking. I do like how the sister's first reaction was to assume Toru was attempting to sleep with another girl...

Overall very enjoyable episode, good action if a bit clunky at times. Guess I'm being spoiled by F/SN UBW action scenes.
