Shingeki no Bahamut Ep 1

Oh hey Navarre I was wondering what happened to you after SMT IV

Good episode was good.

Very exciting action and man that sound direction.

Hope it keeps up the quality!

Similarities between Garo and Bahamut:

- MAPPA TV anime
- Airing in Fall 2014
- Dark fantasy
- Bad people summon demons
- Giant monsters
- Lots of fire effects
- First episode has horses running on rooftops
- First episode has female nudity
- First episode has a scene with uncensored male butt

If only Bahamut would have an OP as good as Garo's.

Wolf Girl & Black Prince 1

Man, the main guy is such a dick. Dude is so dark and twisted, I love it.

I cringed so much during this episode though. When people embarrass themselves, I cant take it haha.

If the second song in the pv is the OP, it doesn't seem too bad would be interesting to see it.

Honestly the whole thing reminds me so much of Western cinema at times I almost missed the 21:9 ratio, it probably wouldn't even feel out of place with it.

Akame ga Kill 14
Esdeath being the best, both killer and girl. Not the most exciting background considering it was completely uninfluential to how she is. She could have sold off to the circus and still turn out the same way essentially from what this episode showed

Well that lived up to the hype I'd heard all day today and then some. Usually you can point to one or two strengths of an episode (writing, animation, art, etc) but yeah, everything about this one was strong. I didn't even mind the CG dragon as it didn't move with that trademark jank that annoys the hell out of me.

If I had to pick any one thing that impressed me most, it'd be the exposition or rather the lack thereof, allowing the episode's story to unfold in a natural way all the while letting the viewer infer what's going on along with the other elements like the relationship between the two main characters, the big hook into the following episode, or even how the bounty system works. That's really refreshing.

Loved Favaro a lot too as he gave me goofyass Lupin/Cobra vibes. I expected dark fantasy but the humor injected into this is just so spot on. Can't wait for next week.

AnimeGAF, a question. I know that there is Initial D, Wangan Midnight, F-Zero (though it barely counts), Speed Racer, and Redline. IGPX too in a sense, are there any anime or even manga about racing? Preferably futuristic racing? I don't think I've ever seen one.

Fate/Stay Night UBW - 0

Pretty stellar start.

Archer's pretty cool. A lot nicer than Fate/Zero's Archer. (
Speaking of Gilgamesh, Isn't he still running around with Kirei in this though?
)

We got some nice-looking backgrounds, and our glorious Ufotable action scene. Can't wait to see more.

Just watch the Wacky Races episode of Carnival Phantasm.

Was that not Gilgamesh talking to Sakura at night when Rin was hiding?

Grisaia no Kajitsu 1

Couldn't deal with the borders.

Maybe later I'll get used to it, but at this point and time no.

Anyhoo, that was surprisingly good.

Felt like they handled the character introduction better than in the VN.

Michiru and Amane are still my personal favorites, so it was nice seeing them finally animated.

Most surprising part of the episode for me was definitely Yuuji's voice.

Wasn't the one I expected for him, but it still works after hearing those lines of his and his inner monologue being delivered perfectly.

Have to say, I'm concerned about the last part if this is going to be the usual 12-13 episode format.

I still have absolutely no faith they can do any those "teases" justice.

Especially in such a short amount of time.

Oban Star-Racers might be a good choice.

Wolf Girl & Black Prince - 01

Misoginy, slut shaming, S&M analogy.. this maybe what actually the most contextually offensive thematically on this season, hell of accomplishment with Ange and Terraformars around, and this is Shoujo.. Femmeworth need to watch this lol
Figured as much from the premise. *sigh*

Cardcaptor Sakura 52-57

NISA's subs kinda diluted the big moment. I'm enjoying what I see of this third season. Supie and Ruby Moon are a lot of fun, and Eriol's mischief is interesting. He doesn't look to be causing any trouble, and no one's caught him doing anything. He's definitely manipulating the events. For a show that so strongly pushes the concept of fate and destiny, is it really so if the
creator of the Clow
manipulated the events so that destiny is upheld? Would they have happened without him? Also, lots of bears.

Cyber Formula, from one of the creative minds behind hit new show Cross Ange, which I gather is all the rage with the kids these days.

Although all joking aside, I kind of like Cyber Formula, though it is a super-dopey kids show that owes quite a bit to Speed Racer, if a lot of fun.

Figured as much from the premise. *sigh*

You know you love it...

It gets really cringe in some places, and outside of one female character it portrays most of the cast of boyfriend obsessed idiots. Hell, the main girl flat out says that she and her friends only talk about their boyfriends. That is the only thing they talk about!

Akame ga Kill - 14

Damn Esdeath is cray cray, why doesn't she drop those huge icespheres on every enemy? Instakill.
Interesting philosophy with strong vs weak and how its rooted in her youth. Can't complain about second best girl getting more alone time.

Looks like alot of plot next time

Because she doesn't like to kill , she likes to torture. instant killing just kill her fun

Things esdeath likes ( by priority ):
-Torture
-Tatsumi
-Hunting a prey ( or multiple prey )
-Gathering skilled/strong fighters ( if she can't recruit , she kills )

I'm so starved for racing stuff that I'll take it. What episode is it?

Thanks Dresden, will check these out too.

@strangedopamine: I've seen Oban Star Racers. Wish there was more stuff like that too.

Oban Star Racers was great, the finale was certainly interesting.

Attack on Bahamut - Genesis 1

Show don't tell has an actual meaning and this episode was amazing at proving it's worth. I mean FSN looked good an all, but this is much, much better in pretty much every other way. Even the CGI here managed to not look like utter shit which is a huge advancement for anime. Story is just getting started so it is possible they pull an infodump on us but I am actually optimistic that they will continue to use this much better way of communicating information.

The only thing I particularly didn't like the camera work all up in the woman's ass when it's supposed to be her badass scene, but I've lived through much worse shit.

I have no idea if this was ever posted here, but I thought it was neat/strange:

One of the few times that both versions of the property not only existed at the same time, but are used as co-promotion.

Cross Ange: Tenshi To Ryuu No Rondo

Started off interesting and the "twist" could be seen a mile away but deer lord all of a sudden a cavity search...

Not going to go further then episode 1.

I get the feeling its gonna be her downfall if any. Some Viper vs Mountain stuff.

I can't really help you there as only racing anime i've seen is the rather obscure ex-drivers: the movie. It's pretty forgettable watch and probably shouldn't count as a movie (62 minutes). Honestly the most memorable thing about it is that despite it being relatively unknown and OOP for 7 years, RightStuf still has 12,600 copies left in stock.

Bahamut 1

Hey, that was good (as basically everyone is saying). It looks as good or better* than Fate Stay Night, maintaining a great visual quality in not only the big action scenes but throughly all the episode. Even if the rest of episodes have half the budget we are for a treat.
*: at least I like more the character designs.

Just a note: dark fantasy? There are demons here, but it wasn't particularly "dark". More the opposite: a bright and bold swashbuckling adventure fantasy with larger than life characters and dangers. Even the music says swashbuckling adventure. And the shiny titles presenting the characters. It all together sets the tone perfectly.

TTGtLwc.jpg

Everyone has posted the horses on air, so I will post this one, I liked this moment.
dVVwZ9X.jpg

Cool.
What else to say. The whole "beating bad guys and taking them as cards" was silly, it seemed more taken from maybe the video game. Or is this Card Captor Sakura? lol. I suppose the same can be said from every bandit being a demon summoner. Is that a video game thing? Felt a bit weird.

Transformation moment was pretty dope. In this scene and in general all the episode they had great smoke effects. A bit silly to transform herself in a demoness... to just beat a big monster with kicks and punches, I expected magicks, but what you are gonna do, anime.
Her outfit is in the provocative side but ehh... somehow because she is a demon it feels less important. Do we expect demons to follow the same morals and fashion than humans? And in her human form she was clothed as a man.

The final tease at the end was interesting, even if at that point it was unneeded: the series had secured me as a viewer of the next episode long before.

Mt Fuji porn!

I think my favourite part is how there seems to be a mini village at the summit, complete with restaurant, gift shop, shrine, and post office. It makes me wonder about the logistics of running such an operation... even for the mail, you'd need some way to truck that stuff down the mountain pretty quickly.

Also, I'll miss the random foreigners and their English
6P4FdfGl.jpg

It's hard to know how much to talk about, since the show isn't really "out-out". I guess it's much like Yamato 2199 back before everyone jumped on the hype train. But I'll say that there is a complication that happens when climbing the mountain and that it's a nice opportunity to use that complication for character growth. If you've seen a sports anime, this would be the equivalent of a team losing some game and coming back stronger the next time. I think it works well here because it's very much a personal struggle rather than "we need to win the championship next time" or whatever. And at least I can see why the show needs to be 25-26 episodes now.

And yay, there's the obvious KLK reference for you all.

Adorable and surprisingly sad. I really wonder what the circumstances behind Kohina's isolation are. For that matter, where does she get money for food, electricity, and internet access? Heh, I probably shouldn't be questioning these things, but every time they have a kid where the parents are absent I have to wonder...

Fate/stay night - Unlimited Blade Works - 01
Funny thing, I kind of did this backwards - Prisma Illya was actually my first entry into the Fate universe. Fortunately, there's enough overlap in the concepts they use that I was able to navigate this episode with comparative ease. It's exposition-heavy, and that can be a drag, but damn, I LOVE those fight scenes. Just flawless animation work there. I think I'm gonna enjoy this.

The manga for this is pretty cute, but the pacing and timing for this anime is scattershot as hell. Hoping it's better next episode.

what on earth did I just watch, did I just witness fun in an original anime, the start of it felt like Disney’s road to el dorado....this had to be the best first episode of anime I've seen since tiger & bunny.

22mins episode that felt like an hour of entertainment, bahamut is getting so much right it's pretty scary and too long to list.

+fun main characters -omg a main character who isn't some over preachy loser & knows how to have fun & has some charisma to him.
+excellent character designs & art
+ Great BG soundtrack & sound direction
+Amazing production value & animation( that free2play money ain't no joke)
+fun script, set piece moments and interesting lore that's only been hinted on so far
+great direction...am talking actual great directing not that crap animegaf calls good directing from hacks

-put some clothes on morrigan & this would be a perfect first episode.
