I went into this blind so the final scenes were a bit unexpected for me. Reminds of Akuma no Riddle. Hopefully it doesn't suck like it. A bit cautious at the moment.

Its only like 6-8 hours by foot to the summit, and they have paths carved out for bulldozers and other tracked vehicles to get up there. One of my regrets was not spending more time at the summit and see what they had to offer. Instead, I mostly just sat with my head in my hands trying to recover from exhaustion and altitude sickness.

It kind of sucks, but strangely a lot of Shojo's are written by women, or at least drawn by them. If I'm not mistaken Hatta Ayuko written a lot of stuff, including Wolf Girl and Black Prince.
Though...if there is a audience for it...

I may keep watching it just because someone here needs to chronicle just how bad it can actually get to ward off future inquiries into the show.

Glad they kept DATABASE as the OP, show really didn't need the awkward flash forward at the beginning to let us know that we'll get back to the action soon when the most enjoyable part of the show is the political drama and life in an MMO which is thankfully the meat of the episode. Seems like we're setting up for big things pretty quickly in this season.

Oh, so you could take a car up the mountain if you wanted to?
In the anime they made it an overnight trip, but I assume that's because you can't really climb at night, but you need to be there fairly early to make the summit by the sunrise.
The fact that there are little inns or whatever at each of the stages seems interesting as well. I guess I never thought of a commercialized mountain before, other than Mt Everest.

Tatsumi somehow escapes from Esdeath with his virginity still intact. Esdeath's origin story is pretty messed up but perfectly explains her personality and actions.
Also I like how the preview for next weeks episode is literally girls in bathing suits, girls in bathing suits, close ups of the boobs of girls in bathing suits, and then a creepy evil cult as the preview reminds you this is a dark action show.

Aida gave it that name for reasons we don't know quite yet and it seemed to resist her attempts to fight Bellri. It also accepted him when he attempted to open the cockpit after she was certain no one else could operate it but her. This carries over into how the army can't do a thing with it after he hands it over to him to the point its left exactly as it was when he left it. It also seemed to demonstrate a sense of self-preservation when it killed Cahill without Bellri's command. Corvo pointed out that it was a lot like Layzner's AI doing something similar in its show and operating to preserve the pilot's life which also makes sense. I just can't help but wonder!
Wish I'd paid better attention to the first ep the first time through. Despite being so very Tomino, seems like it was a little more dense than it should be with material that at least I missed. Didn't quite get that the initial encounter was meant to be three factions although that's made clear later with the pirate attack. Thought the character animation overlaid on the mobile suits was just Tomino being Tomino instead of serving the purpose of establishing different forces by virtue of their uniforms. I think there was some line like the bald one got away but I assumed that was a reference to the G.Self though.
The big takeaway is Raraiya being apparently forcefully ejected (rejected?) as she certainly didn't look as if she expected being shot into the sky. Also, her insignia didn't match either the pirates or the Capital Guard. I think this was meant to set up the bizarre acceptance/rejection demonstrated later on in these two episodes. It made her cries of "G" make a little more sense as I initially took it as her being afraid of the G.Self but it makes much more sense for her to be despondent at the separation. Her calling it Papa later on also hinted strongly at the emotional attachment she carries towards it.

But yeah, getting back to the G.Self, I'm wondering if it has that name because it possesses a degree of autonomy or sentience that's not fully demonstrated due to damage from the initial encounter.

An interesting take on this genre with a protagonist ignoring the harem bullshit. The meetings with the girls especially with the tsundere were fairly funny. Going to guess there's a stupid plot twist that makes this less enjoyable
