Tomodachi wa Mahou
Finally able to post in the thread again!
Edit: So what shows are worth watching this season?

Tonari and Chuunibyou are by far the best two shows I've seen so far this season. In fact they are the only two I'm still watching along with the cheesy but awesome Codebreaker. The latter having such a retro feel, they don't make em like this anymore. It's kind of some weird hybrid of Death Note, DtB and Black Cat but somehow its actually good. And awful. But still good.

Dropped SSY, Hiiro no Kakera S2, Girls Und Panzer, Btooom!, Hayate and I don't think I can watch any more Gyrozetter. Sorry duckroll :(

Still need to check out the rest of the season.

Best fight choreography in years. We need more flying elbows, kicks, knees and machetes in action scenes.

Uh, didn't like the new art-style. I can barely tolerate art-changes in short scenes (like ep-3 or 2 opening) but one entire episode is a bit too much for me.

Kuroko no Basket 23

This can't be the last game of the show!

The manga is ongoing, so there should be a second season since the first one is selling pretty well.
The season ends on a high note though, you should like it.

That is good. I would love it.

I hate to say it, but so far the Magi anime has been pretty sucky. Like, I wouldn't even recommend it to other fans of the manga. Everything just feels rushed and lacks weight.

Sucky for those who have read the manga but not for those who are anime watchers only.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Episodes 11 & 12
uaztB.jpg

Well that wasn't the
happy ending I was expecting from Madoka's wish to erase all the Witches
.
You guys weren't kidding, they just hit the ground running with episode 10.
Makoda really only
changed the part where they become witches by taking away all the grief in their soul gems. They still die when they run out of power as evidenced by Sayaka
....at least I think that's what happened.

Either way, Madoka is basically
Jesus
.

There are many other things about this show that are worth talking about, but I can't put my thoughts in order, and I'm sure they've been talked to death by now, so I'm just gonna go read. It's the kind of show you need to watch twice.

Overall, I loved it. 9/10, I will watch again, hopefully on Blu-Ray. Hail Shaft.

^Just look at that face and the way the body is drawn lol. So CUTE! I want a small Madoka doll.

Its definetly a show I have to rewatch later(years later).

Oh damn, I missed your episode 10 impression. Glad to hear you liked it! Was
Homura's assault on Walpurgisnacht
awesome or what?

Yup.

Also, did anyone show you this image yet? It's required viewing.

The thing is 5pb never said it was a sequel to Steins;Gate but the fans thought it was which they brought it upon themselves.
Can't say I agree. For one thing, I'm pretty sure the Japanese players were for the most part well aware that the game would be its own story even if it's set in the same world (it already is the third entry, after all). Also, 5pb wasn't exactly shy about including little references to the past games in their promotional material...

Saimoe Quarter Final 2

1st 192 Nodoka Haramura @ Saki
2nd 178 Saki Miyanaga @ Saki

Look at those pathetic quarterfinal vote totals. Saimoe confirmed for dead but I'm still going to see it into the grave.

Today is the other all-Saki match.

Really good, a nice story, well paced and directed, although not as visually impressive as the episodes before it. Still, at certain scenes I got the feeling as if the BONES staff kind of got used to the designs and made them a bit prettier (or more BONES-y), I don't know, maybe it's just me, I'm to lazy to check again or take screencaps.
Since this wasn't in the manga (or was it?) I'm hoping this really turns out to be an adaptation in the vein of the first FMA and they start ignoring the manga and going their own way soon.

Shinya just shot up to one of the top main characters this season. I hope we do get more private sequences with him. So intense and then when he poured the water on himself...

Anyway it was a fitting start to such an intense episode, best one yet.

I kinda want the Kyouko Figma. It's pretty awesome.

Oh god yes. It's even better knowing she
don't conjure up all those weapons and she's been stealing them all this time. Considering Japan's gun laws, the girls been busy.

Yup.
She did the best she could with the hand she was dealt.

I'm sure there must be some other thing she could've done.
Why not just wish that no one ever had to do this except her? Pretty much the same solution, except no one explodes.

Also, did anyone show you this image yet? It's required viewing.

Hahaha exactly what I was thinking above. Poor police officers.

This episode was kinda weird. It's a bit silly to use the term "suspense of disbelief" for a 4 highschool girls SoL anime, but still, I felt this episode pushed it a bit.

It wouldn't be right for Madoka to erase the all of the wishes that previous magical girls had fought and suffered for.

Here's the meduka meguca that _Keiichi_ is referring to: 1 2 3 4 5

With all the hyped manga adaptations this season, who would have thought My Little Monster and Blast of Tempest would end up the best shows so far.
Jojo is pretty good too.

So, yeah... started watching.

This show is a visual porn. It baffles me how much better than Chuunibyou this is. It's fucking good, even for KyoAni.
This show is about a lazy fuck MC. His motto is fucking ridiculous. His just lazy as hell.
This show is about a girl which MC loves in first sight. I don't like that. Did he created that mystery because he was lazy or was it because he wanted her attention? I think it's the second... I know where this is going already...

It's not bad. But that's always my first impression with KyoAni shows. I'll give 3 episodes to drop if it doesn't get any more interesting.

With Hyouka, I have a better suggestion. Instead of dropping it if you find it too boring, you should just skip right to episode 12. :)

Manga just announced they have the UK rights for Wolf Children and Blood-C amongst a bunch of considerably less interesting stuff at their podcast panel at MCM Expo in London, for anyone wondering what's happening with the rights to that in these parts.

Sucky for those who have read the manga but not for those who are anime watchers only.

I don't know, so far while the first 3 episodes have been okay, the pacing smacks of FMA Brotherhood and Hunter x Hunter (2011), where it feels like they're glossing over the beginning to get to the part that wasn't covered in the original run.

Except Magi doesn't have an original run.

So far I've been reading the manga after the corresponding episodes have aired and this isn't a case where ignorance is bliss.

Does anyone have that screencap of a dude complaining about the state of modern anime and the trend of "cute" on a newsgroup in 1995 or something?

There are several books I own that I consider to be of the highest quality, yet rarely bother to look at (like Hanaharu and Shiwasu). Then there are numerous books and artists of dubious quality that I enjoy far far more like Orimoto Mimana and Asaki Takayuki.

The only Hanaharu book I've read is Shoujo Material that I got as a present for my roommate, but my impression from that anyway (and misc illustrations on the net) is that he can draw beautiful illustrations but he can't draw manga. There's no flow to his manga; it's like a collection of isolated illustrations.

One Off 3-4 END
This was a pretty fitting conclusion to this nice little OVA. I kinda wish they'd do a TV series but it's pretty unlikely as it would most likely undermine the overall message of this OVA but if anyone can do it, it's SatoJun .

Also, I guess technically they could time jump and do a sequel in Australia. lol

I also don't think everyone is remembering that Steins;Gate was pretty shit at the beginning, with one of the most abysmally directed first episodes I have a recollection of. It wasn't until a ways in that things started getting actually interesting, which is why I'm not being dismissive of Robo;Notes quite so soon. Hell, I'm already liking it more than I did Steins;Gate at the same point.
It is glorious. It might have been perfect as a one cour show. The first 10 or 11 episodes took some serious patience, but the second half of the show is worth it.
I loved Steins;Gate from episode 1.
The characters were a ton of fun, and I'm a sucker for nerd humor and 2ch memes.
Actually I haven't even seen the second half yet. I'd just finished episode 11 when Crunchryoll took it down.

The two main characters in Robotics;Notes, on the other hand, are pretty boring so far, so I'm just watching it on faith it gets more interesting later. Third episode was decent, and the new guy may be fun.

Normally this is a bad idea, but in Hyouka's case, he should watch episode 4-5 to see what Hyouka means/symbolizes then skip right to the festival arc and after.

JoJo

Pure over the top craziness.

"JOJOOOOOOO"

Blast of Tempest

I really like the atmosphere (most of the time). I really like it when shows use a deep sense of reflection, this show does that in abundance which I find gives it a very sombre tone. The main character is constantly thinking, and since things aren't too good with his world we are let in to the inner emotions that set our view on things. The flashbacks are used very well, the past is driving the future and we are being revealed the extent of the relationships which govern the characters' motivations. The music is top tier too, so aside from a few things I didn't like (Hakaze); I'm really enjoying this.

"The time is out of joint.
O cursed spite,
That I was ever born to set it right!"

2nd year middle school syndrome

I love this show. Most shows can't handle female characters so the more female characters they add the worse it is. This show avoids this by being extremely self-aware. It KNOWS having the super popular girl fall in love with the main character is a nonsense staple of these 1 guy multiple girl shows. It KNOWS that all of the super hidden power yet living as a regular school children stuff is ridiculous, yet is constantly found in anime. It plays around with the ridiculousness of it all and does it with such finesse, not allowing itself to get too caught up in itself, instead it drags the viewer into feeling the same ridiculousness and laughing intensely as the show pokes fun at itself and everyone around it.

"Yuuta, that hurts"

Monster next to me

Unlike the other stuff here, I read quite a bit of the manga of this one so I'm biased. This is exactly as I expected it to be a girlXtroublemaker shoujo manga which is fun.

"No funny moves.
One peep and I rape you"

From the New World

Atmosphere, again. Not too sure where this is going but it seems interesting and it seems to be a massacre coming up which are always fun.

"There's no way something like the Faze Cat could exist"

Robotics;Notes

Not too much a fan of the whole Japanese robot anime super popular worldwide thing but is OK. The disease the girl has seems awfully contrived. I like the MC though. He's not an asshole, he just refuses to be a doormat. Just because she's a girl doesn't mean he has to drop all his interests in order to help her, nor does it mean he has to pay for her hobbies. He helps her out occasionally, but he's got his own interests and he has no reason to become her personal slave because she's obsessed with building a giant robot. He will help out and I'm sure they will start a relationship because *anime*, but so far I don't understand the hate.

As I said before, its a freaking adorable phrase the way Rikka says it. Yuuta is so abusive.

How many fat old guys this show still have? And I hate almost everyone of them, except the one with the MC.

The crazy kid was really cool. Did crazy stuff and wasn't afraid of anything. Too bad the MC was even better, lol.

I still like this show. 'Till the end am I watching this.

Zetsuen no Tempest 04

Wow, another man service. I didn't ask for this. This week is sooo DTL...

Anyway, that was a very good bro episode. Their relation is very nice, and even without battles, it was a very enjoyable episode.

Zenkichi kick was very cool. Can't wait to see his fight on episode 5 (I guess).

Yeah this is my reaction to the people in the thread talking like he has some obligation to support her hobbies. The show hasn't explained why he's in the club in the first place (other than saying he found it to be a comfortable place to play games) but I'd assume she probably begged him to join and he did her a favor so the club has members.

This season is crowded enough as it is, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make to get a friend to watch Blood-C.

After the first episode, I was ready to throw things because of Taiga. But from then onwards, her unprovoked abuse is tempered by displays of insecurity and poorly-expressed appreciation, and it became a lot easier to watch.

Compared to the early episodes of Ano Natsu that I watched, there's less of a sense of purpose to every episode. That's a benefit of a longer series. Something like episode 3, which develops our understanding of Minorin without really advancing any serious plot moments, couldn't exist as it does in a shorter show.

Either way, it's pretty fun. Ryuuji allows people to walk all over him for some reason, but whatever.

Honestly, it's just the kind of inoffensive show that I could just as easily watch as forget about. Kind of like Ano Natsu.

Ed 2 is the best of the songs to me, still memorable and catchy, though such a tease with the generation of miracles members it shows in it. I want to see the one with the multi colored eyes play. I wonder if that has to do with whatever his ability is, though a regular seirin member as well as someone in another team already have eye abilities.

ED1 will always be best song.

It's a good book, and Hanaharu's work is solid, but it's as you said. I did enjoy some of the short stories though. Especially the guy who's girlfriend was a chicken that transformed into a girl and laid eggs.

Yamotogawa and Yukimi are two excellent artists where the quality of their work suits the medium, and they both deliver large amounts of enjoyment.
