Sort of. It's not my type of show, really. I'm not a real fan of "misery porn". It's also clear the visual novel it's based on is very hentai based, something I'm also not really into. Most of all it was a disturbing, but strangely fascinating experience. A lot of images in that show that will never leave my head.
I guess the part that bothered me the most was all the fanservice. Every other scene had either a naked woman, upskirt shot, or boob shot. A little of that is kind of annoying, but acceptable. The extent to which it's used here really bothered me.
Her mind was already at that break point after hearing about Makoto fooling around. Just because she didn't actively voice or physically object Taisuke's advances doesn't mean she was willing to let him do his thing. Taisuke is an idiot, we all know that, but even he knew what he was doing. The guy is a desperate, hopeless fool, who took the one chance he had at making his dreams (cruel as it is) a reality.
Taisuke's behavior the next day made it seem that he really is that fucking dumb and naive that he didn't know what he was doing.
The way it goes down in the game, however, suggests that your interpretation is probably the right one, and I don't think I'd be able to "unsee" it if I was to rewatch it.
Good job man. Also, what did you think of the world-building elements of the show? They said they did a lot of research to try to make this show's version of the future a more grounded reality as far their setting went, and personally I thought they handled it well, and for me I never had to shake my head in disbelief... minus the ninjas of course.
Well we'll be lucky to get to Mars by the timeframe the show takes place. I do wish they spent more time on Earth and the problems there since it was so damn crucial to the final. They definitely spent a lot of time with minor details such as the footholds. It didn't feel particularly futuristic which is impressive in its own way I guess.
I don't understand what it is that is supposed to make the cast of My Little Monster special, or why this is a story that needs to be focused in on and told.
Good one, no it's clear you don't know what your talking about, talent animators get contracted to work shounens all the time (who do you think animate fights?).
While he's clearly wrong, Magi episode 1 was animated superbly and is far better than most in the genre, I mean ffs look @ how mediocre shit like Fairy Tail was when it launched, Magi is elite compared to that. And yes the big ones have amazing animation for certain fights but in general the quality is poor.
Don't know what mago is and never seen samurai deeper kyo.
The trailer for season 2 was better then the entire first season which was filled with bad animation, filler and heavily pushed a female character who was all but ignored (and was unpopular) in the actual manga after the first 30 chapters. Just DEEN being DEEN...
But yeah that shit is nothing compared to what we just witnessed in the Kouga arc! Wait.. lol. What exactly are your complaints with how episode 4 and 5 were handled? I mean everyone agrees the Amon Dungeon arc was done badly, not just too many chapters (16) crammed into 3 episodes but just poorly done in general. But the Kouga arc was well done, what's wrong with it?
Oh and Samurai Deeper Kyo was a travesty of an adaptation, Amon's arc is scene for scene compared to that one. Oh Studio DEEN again btw, lol @ Magi would've been better in DEENs hands, don't you know all the shonen blood on DEEN's hands? Rurouni Kenshin fillers after Kyoto is another one!
Now, the fifth episode of Magi gives me some hope that it won't become as bad the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime, but I am really worried that the directors of the anime do not have a clear idea of how to handle the source material. I suppose that the key difference is that Fullmetal Alchemist (2004) became really bad (IMO) in its second half (after it diverged from the manga entirely) whereas the Magi anime seems to be doing the beginning differently. Of course, when Fullmetal Alchemist's first anime series was made the manga was not complete. Does anyone know if the Magi manga is anyway near to being completed?
Nowhere near complete from the looks of it, doesn't matter as far as the current season is concerned. Balbadd is the end game for this season and what and endgame it is...
You can probably do 2x26 episode series of Magi right now.
Season 1 = Chapters 1-76
Season 2 = Chapters 77-148
Season 3 = Chapter 149-????
The way things are going might need a 4 cour season for the third one... shit bound to get epic.

Oh my god, this is like the first episode of Kingdom without any CG sans like one incredibly blurred crowd, two flashbacks, and the odd CG flag. Hell, not even the preview had any!!! GAMECHANGER
Now as for the plot, having 38 highly skilled young assassins
kill each other over one coveted spot
is pretty much the stupidest thing yet. It makes no sense given how small the various clan's are as it's far more efficient to just have that kinda role decided with actual results on the field. Clearly the one's in Assassin's Creed had the right idea. Fortunately, everyone realised that it was pretty dumb so at least it's somewhat self-aware.
The scene with Xin and Qiang Lei was pretty cool and helped show him to be someone who isn't as much of a hot-blooded moron as he usually comes across as. All in all, a surprisingly good episode even without the "amazing CG".
Oh man, no way it could have ended better. As horrible as it was going, the only choice was for them to take it all the way. After all that, I feel a little more mentally disturbed. That series is messed up in ways I did not expect. For as awful as the beginning was, that's what made the end pay off more.
Personally, those two are as far as I went down that particular hole. I have Garzey's Wing sitting around here somewhere, but I feel like physically owning it is good enough.
That said, Earth Maiden Arjuna rounded out the hazing trio when I came to animeGAF. I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up yet.

Outside of the obvious expectations for Nagahama handling the animu, I'm also looking forward to the possibility that Oshimi's other manga get some attention, like Sweet Poolside.
Very high energy and fun first segment. Very informative but dull second segment. Lost all energy by the third.
Being the last episode of course they add in some jokes about it being the last episode and while the OP version 2 was fun, they didn't go all out on it.
All in all, like SZS, this show started strong, had good segments every once in a while, but did run out of energy here and there. It was enjoyable but I just wish it was more even.

I just assumed that was like an officer hat or something, part of some standard uniform kit. Certainly a rather odd choice considering no one else dresses up in a historical uniform.
So, apparently Gothicmade debuted over the weekend. Of course, it's
The Five Star Stories: Side Story
.
Initial reviews note that the animation is a bit wonky and that there are a dearth of battle scenes, but it basically is a one-man project; what did they expect?
I really hope FSS reserializes soon, although I don't see Designs 4 coming out before 2014. ORZ
This was a very good, impressively paced episode, as several characters are given further insight and development. The
melancholic
conclusion was a noticeable shift in tone that worked surprisingly well. As such, there was a much improved balance between the dramatic elements and the moments of humor compared to the last episode, in which it was noticeably lacking in the latter.
Chizuru is comparatively dull, so the partial focus on
her awakened feelings for Haru
throughout the early portion of the episode was occasionally stale, though, for the most part, her scenes were better than expected, since the majority of them were of an amusingly comedic nature. The vague, but emotionally resonant complication at the end was a bit disconcerting, but
self-inflicted obstacles for their relationship
were expected, even if
Shizukus reasoning
is a bit naïve. Its only unfortunate that this had to occur just as
Haru was beginning to realize the romantic nuances within his feelings for her
.
Haru and Shizukus relationship has been excellently illustrated and realistically developed throughout the show; so much so that the temporarily
stalled progress and the faltered development here
is entirely expected, since their contrasting characterizations essentially dictated the fruition of this inevitability. Although understandable, Shizuku's
obsession with studying
is occasionally tiresome, especially now that it, along with the flawed adherence to
her mothers deficiencies
, has produced a noticeable
dishonesty within her emotions
, culminating with the moment that she
bluntly conveys to Haru that her attraction towards him no longer exists
, which clearly contradicts
her flustered emotions earlier in the episode
. The entirety of the final sequence, combined with the
flashback to her youth
, wonderfully illuminates the fragility of
her emotional identity
, as she struggles with a plethora of subtly implied problems that she has with
her absent mother
and her seemingly insurmountable desire to alter that fractured
maternal relationship
by somehow proving herself through an unerring diligence towards success through schoolwork.
The character interactions remain the strongest element of the show, due considerably to the fantastically diverse reactions. As such, though diminished, Haru and Shizukus interactions remain satisfyingly compelling. Natsume continues to be one of the best aspects of the show, as she's an incredibly enjoyable character. I'm hoping that she'll eventually enter into a relationship with Sasayan, since their interactions exude an immensely natural romantic chemistry and their personalities complement each other extremely well. Though she appears to be a relatively unimportant character, Chizuru, so far, seems like a mediocre addition to the cast. She's definitely likable, but not nearly as interesting or engaging as the others. Despite this, I loved her
unexpected outburst, as it ended with her insinuation that Haru has no balls, which provided a plethora of hilarious overreactions
. Thankfully, this episode makes it abundantly clear that she won't be a perpetually interfering sort of rival, so shell likely develop into a better character as the story progresses.
The production values were quite inconsistent throughout, particularly the animation. On the other hand, the direction was a definite improvement over the occasional mediocrity found in the previous episode. Musically, I thought the episode was great, since the majority of selections were used quite effectively, as they consistently established an atmosphere that perfectly accentuated the accompanying moments.
All in all, Tonari continues to thoroughly impress with a highly enjoyable story, intriguing character development, and it's exceptionally likable cast of characters. Since, due to the title of the next episode and the ending to this one, a temporary
separation of sorts between Haru and Shizuku
has likely been set in motion, I think it's quite likely that another rival will appear as
she becomes increasingly distant from Haru
. Of course, I hope I'm wrong, and I definitely hope the rival won't be Yamaken, but it appears to be slightly foreshadowed throughout the episode, particularly in the latter half.
I don't really care about anything that isn't action in this anymore. The minute or so of it in this episode was good, but everything else was zzzzzzz. Though that could just be the fact I'm watching it when I'm very tired.
Jesus. Those things are massive. Do they mostly just beat the crap out of each other in the fights, or is there more to it? The cover on Netflix makes it look like a Street Fighter doujin.

Good episode, no real complaints other than that I think they should have played some more powerful music during the whole
Baba dying
scene. All in all they did well with this arc, next week is Morgiana, hopefully that's only one episode so we can get to motherfucking Balbadd as fast as possible.
Fuckin' Kumeta, this episode was so meta my brain hurts. I guess once really is enough sometimes! Anyways this was a great ending to a pretty damn funny series. The Part B bits kinda sucked but they even called that shit out in the last episode so I can't hate on 'em all that much. Definitely worth watching, especially if you need to scratch that SZS itch.
