Are you running your load order through BOSS?
This is a pretty basic question since I haven't really modded these games all that much:
I have a few simple mods and it's very important that I load them in the right order. No script extender required. If I set up a load order using FOMM and then launch the game using this (to make the game large address aware,) will the game remember my load order or do I absolutely have to launch with FOMM?
I'd rather simply alter FalloutNV.exe manually to make it large address aware but Steam freaks out and won't launch the game unless I somehow find a cracked EXE. The tool I linked above is nice because it bypasses all of this garbage.
Delete them, but they should be in "data", not in your main folder. One quick question. Once I have moved the NMC texture rars over to my main fallout directory and unrared them, do I still need to leave the rar files in there or can I delete them now?
Fallout 3 and NV will always remember your load order no matter where you launch from.
I'm sure you guys have been asked this so many times. But my brother recently picked up Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition on Steam after playing his friends copy of the normal version to completion on PS3.
Is there any mods that you would recommend to improve the experience of the game? Preferably mods that wouldn't have problems in the DLC?
What are the best texture mods for Fallout 3/NV?

The game runs the same as normal with FOSE..FOSE doesn't do anything but add more scipts. Its crashing either from FWE or MMM. It may be my internet download or something..I will just try again when I get my own place. For now I am gonna do New Vegas with just a slow experience mod.
I'll join you if you do another playthrough, I feel like my mod list is getting deprecated and I really want to try Boulder Dome and some of the restoration mods made by a gaffer...the last page is making me think that it may have been a mistake to remove all the stuff about installing mods from the op...
reinstalled new vegas at some stage recently so I should be doing an update shortly once I see what's been happening since I last checked out the scene.

Doesn't seem to be anything weird, but I'm not the best at diagnosing load orders. Try the easy thing: backup your load order and run BOSS. In my experience, crashes and terrible performance aren't related to the load order, but the mods being installed incorrectly or other incompatibilities, so I would start deactivating less trustworthy mods.NMM is fine
Can someone help me with my loadorder? fallout 3 loads up but is unresponsive and never loads the gui with this load order, then when I alt tab, it crashes
Did you do it step by step? I remember being able to install that mod, so it shouldn't be something that complicatedDamn I'm stuck with these animation replacers.
I installed them with the help with this guide:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpSCya407Q0&feature=plcp
and all of them work except the two core animations I actually want
- The default stance (I tried all three)
- The pistol stance (I tried all three)
Curiously, the pistol aiming works fine (one-handed or professional), but what I reaaaallly want is the stance, cause fuck I hate the vanilla aim-at-the-hips stance.
Why is it that only those two are not working?
Oh and btw, I really, really think this should be in the OP; a series of truly amazing noob friendly videos by modder / scene contributor Gopher. The very definition of step-by-step fool-proof guides.
He's made lots of videos, but his latest series focuses on the essentials, and covers textures, shaders, weapon animations, UI and more. Here is the first of the series

Any idea what might be causing crashes in my mod list?
http://i.imgur.com/TSfLl.jpg[IMG]
[s]Not shown: NMC textures, Aimpoint Crosshair, and MTUI. Doubt any of those would be causing the problem though. Seems to happen mostly around the Wilhelms Wharf crossing and around Rivet City.[/s]
After going over all my mods today, enabling/disabling, changes the orders around, I think I finally found the problem. I think it might be from using the full NMC texture pack without changing the exe to address more than 2gb of memory. Switched to the Performance version of NMC and haven't had a crash yet.
Does New Vegas also have the problem where it doesn't address more than 2gb's of ram?
Yeah, but there are mods to fix that. Don't have time right now to look it up but search 4gb on the nexus and it should pop up easily.

Hmm, a mod is making the game crash to desktop when I try to get into the gomorrah
Is there anything I can do to try and find out which mod it is other than disable them one at a time?
Nah I think I will just stick to the performance version of NMC's improved textures.
Is this 2gb addressable memory still a problem with New Vegas and Skyrim?
Try this.

It's a problem for New Vegas (like I said though fixable by mods) and it was for Skyrim on release but Bethesda's patched it since then.Nah I think I will just stick to the performance version of NMC's improved textures.

Replaying F3 again after putting 20 hrs into it before getting bored, this time I installed the Marts Mutant Mod and it's crazy. Before in F3 I basically never ran from enemies except for the occasional Super Mutant. With MMM, I constantly have to run away from enemies who are just relentless. He also added Wanamingo's from Fallout2 and they are terrifying when they come at you.
The tension and difficulty increases 10x with this mod.
Are there any mods that make the game a tad more stable? I'm playing with a few mods, and my game crashes every 30-45 minutes. I am in love with the game, but it breaks the heart when I have to reload the game so often.
Edit: Nevermind, I found the mod that should do the job, Mission Mojave--Ultimate Edition.
Disregard the Nexus mod manager, it's not a particularly functional piece of software. IMO, the original FOMM was better.. and if you want something with more features there's always the Mod Organizer ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1334)
Now do this: pick up the texture and meshes folders and unzip them in the data folder of your new vegas installation. Be sure to check that you're using archive invalidation so that the new textures will be shown properly. Ah, also, install the patches in the download section.
Basically.. follow the instruction spelled on the mod's page.
The best way to make your game more stable is to find what is making it crash that frequently instead of adding even more mods on top of it, no matter how miraculous they promise to be.
The ones in the ENBDev thread have better settings - some of them have to be seen to be believed.
