What's the importance of Veronica(I think that's her name, brotherhood girls with the melee arm you can pick up as a follower). I'm playing on hardcore, so I'm always paranoid about getting friends killed.

+PUNCH THING HARD

Used Intense training 4 times and ended up with these after taking all SPECIAL related implants:
Seems like an awful lot of perks you missed out on.

My last character--a repugnant, Caesar-loving Energy Weapon specialist--ended the game with these stats:

Str 7
End 7
Per 7
Cha 1
Int 7
Agi 7
Luck 10

Just bought implants, no intensive training. I don't like IT this time simply because, unless you mod it, you only get 15 perks and there's too many useful perks to devote one to raising a SPECIAL stat. 1 charisma made sense for the guy since he was a pretty terrible person. Ave, hail Caesar!

Water is not wet!
EN is more important than just the implants. Starting value determines you starting HP. After that its just +5hp/level afaik. 10 EN gives 300HP vs 200HP at the default 5 EN.

Yeah, she basically kills everything with just one punch (playing on NORMAL, so it might vary)

Even on Very Hard she crushes things. Pushy, Ballistic Fist, whatever... utter destruction.

I can't remember any of the radio songs in this game while I still remember Butcher Pete and I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire from Fallout 3.

My character is female :D.

Anyone tried Rose out? Is she any good?

Lastly, 1 CHA always makes sense.

There really needed to be more charisma checks in the game. Or tie Charisma with Speech/Barter checks, so you'd need a certain level of Charisma+Speech level to pass a check.

I agree, though I suppose it 'makes sense.'

I've become quite fond of shotguns in this game. Quite fond.

As am I.

I use shotguns and sniper/scoped rifles exclusively.

Of course, I always play in this manner when given the chance.

Speaking of shotguns, whats the best way to upgrade the riot shotgun? I haven't found any others, and it'll cost me 11k for raul to fix it.

So whats the verdict on Hardcore?

Worth playing it at all?

The only hard thing about hardcore mode is your companions die for real. And against some enemies they die real easy (cazadores). Other than that it's not really a big deal. Water and food are plentiful. Non-instant healing alters things a bit but it's not really a big change. The weight of bullets does hurt a bit, but not really a big penalty once you get used to id.

Well... 45 hours in, level 21 and I've STILL yet to hit the Strip. I'm going to do it tomorrow. I've been playing for hours and hours.

If you've leveled your repair up, you could pick up Jury Rigging, which is pretty overpowered. It'd let you use any old shotgun to fix it, among probably other stuff besides. It's a required perk IMHO if you're prone to attachment to less common weapons and/or a cheapo. :lol

Aside from crafting your own weapon repair kits (requires 50 repair), my only other suggestion is really Jury Rigging.

I'm going to get this perk.

I miss my Sherriff's Duster :( Some dude with a guitar was just chilling by a billboard wearing something similar and I was tempted to blow his head off just to get it. But I remembered, my character is good.

In the town of Primm, in the old Sheriff's home, there is a Sheriff's Duster and Sheriff's Cowboy Hat next to his bed. They are free to take because he very obviously no longer needs them.

For some odd reason I can only jury rig the riot gun with assault rifles and sniper rifles, I don't think you can use normal shotguns to fix it unless my game is glitched.

Yeah Jury Rig does not let you repair the riot gun with regular shotguns, though I wish it did. Still though, the jury rig perk is worth its weight in gold.

Easily one of the best perks in the game.

Come on now, how about Big Iron?

Thanks to Amazon's B2G1 free deal, my copy is coming in the mail. Have the bugs been significantly cleaned up on PC or is it still a huge mess?

Anyone getting graphical errors (flickering white triangles) when entering VATS or during the slowmo kill shots? AMD 4890 here. Hoping this is a game bug instead of problems with my graphics card. It started happening after an hour play which worries me that it is heat related.

Yeah intense training perk or you can buy an implant for 4000 caps.

I'd like not to waste a perk on IT since you only get 15 total perks if you go to 30. I like the sniper perk, and am one short on perception. Yeah, I like using VATS :)

Where can I buy an implant?

Also, the collecting heads for the NCR quest was pretty fun. I accidently collected two heads before I event started the quest. Was wondering what those heads were for :) (I collected Cook-Cook's and Veronica's heads before it started).

Glasses and hats have PER bonuses.

I don't think those kinds of bonuses assist you in getting a perk. Could be wrong.

Is there a way to respec? I pooled all of my points into PER when I first started; now I'm level 15 and don't really want to lose everything now. ):

Oops, yeah I just assumed that you could - never tried myself. That sounds like something they should change in a patch, though.

Jingle jangle is going to be stuck in my head for a long, long time. Damn that song playing every hour. :(

Man, eating people is way more fun than it should be allowed to be. In public, I'm this nice diplomatic person that tries to get along with everyone, but if I can get away with it I'll stalk and nom anyone who crosses me.

The gameplay has actually been somewhat enjoyable, surprisingly. Can't compare to FO3 since haven't played, but ironsights really help the combat. VATS works, though I don't use it that often (mainly for when the enemy gets in closer range). I've been the target of a few ambushes in the wasteland, so I've been treading more carefully, trying to catch the jerks off-guard, get on higher ground and toss dynamite on top of them as I snipe away the survivors. Then I eat them all. Good times.

6 hrs in, rock solid performance, no crashes. Haven't really noticed any bugs, either. ATI card, so maybe that helps in this case.

Hmm. Not sure where that is :(
North East of New Vegas, in the Suburbs I guess you could say.

Is it me or is there a lack of unique or special armours in the game? Plenty of great weapons but I don't seem to find many useful armour to wear.
Oh, there are too many quest bugs, particularly the one featuring
the Brotherhood of Steel
. It's entirely possible to break the quest line and never learn
power training
or unlock the best weapons. It pissed me off so much I blew them up! Which was fun, admittedly.

So whats the point of deathclaws? Is there any story to them in the game? Just wiped out a whole island of them with ease and really nothing was on there, it was pretty underwhelming.

It matters in an rpg where choice and consequences are supposed to be present. Imo, at least.

You have three choices in the beginning of NV... help the town, don't, or leave. How is that any more deep or involved than the beginning of FO3? It boils down to either making a binary choice or ignoring the quest altogether.

duckroll said:
I completely disagree with this. Even if you play the game just once, it is silly to presume that every single player will do things a particular way the first time they play. Having many multiple options for the player to roleplay as he/she sees fit benefits the game from the very start, not just on replays. If you start out creating a specific character with an intention to play the game from a certain type of personality/specialization, New Vegas gives you the ability to take advantage of that right from the start. Your actions right from the beginning start to define your character and the consequences of your early actions slowly begin to affect what other options you have as you progress through the game. You open new doors and close existing ones based on how you react to the world and how the world reacts to you.

I agree with the general sentiment but I don't see the huge difference in this specific case. Neither game's starting area has any significant roleplaying in them, and I find FO3:s to be much more interesting both thematically and design wise.

They're just high level enemies. They're supposed to be badasses, but not invincible.

Wierd, the achievement for reaching level 10 didnt unlock in game, but when i launched the game and the launcher menu came up, it unlocked there and then (and then the launcher crashed). Strange.....

You mean the area on the other side of the river? Because there are
two suits of power armor over there, near where the mother and alpha male deathclaws were.
