What are you talking about? There are still permanent stat boosting books and the perk comprehension still works the same way as it did in FO3 for them as well. There's also the temporary 10+ (20+ with perk) stat books, but they're to hold on to for sticky situations.Dresden said:No, since comprehension sucks now. Just hold on to them until you need a boost to complete a skill check.
I only take light-weight, expensive junk (cig cartons, sensor modules, etc) and repair weapons so they don't take up as much space. A fully repaired armor or rifle sells for hundreds of caps.Dechaios said:Okay so I am loving this game, but I am having a real inventory crisis here... I feel like every body or house I loot I'm forced to go into my inventory and throw out junk first.. and I don't even feel like I collect that much junk in the first place, I only try to get the good stuff when I'm scavenging.
Does anyone have any tips for better inventory management or good strategies for item collecting? Constantly chucking stuff is breaking up the gameplay for me and driving me crazy.

So the books are permanent and the magazines are temporary? That makes sense. Thanks!King Chozo said:What are you talking about? Deadly Cyclone said:No, because there are 3 different ways to get a sheriff. One points to the NCR outpost, one to Primm and Beagle, and the third to the NCR tent outside of Primm.

where in my post did i say it wasn't the case? it doesn't excuse it. i was expecting the radio stuff to be better. is this going to be the excuse for all complaints NV related? "well fallout3 was janky so what did you expect? lulz"SalsaShark said:how was this not the case in FO3 ?
Yeah. There's supposedly around 51 perma-boost books, so comprehension, if you hunt all the books down, is worth... 51 points. Educated is just better, unless you want to burn a level six perk on Comprehension as well.Felix Lighter said:I don't know if people are spoiler tagging perks but better safe than sorry I guess.
Comprehension:
You gain one additional skill point for reading books and double the skill points for reading magazines.
I've run into a bunch of the magazines and I know they are only temporary. This makes it sounds to me that there are books as well that may be permanent.
Is that the case?
Uh, I know that. Comprehension still sucks compared to Educated (this isn't Fallout 3 anymore), and now that you get a perk every two levels instead of one, most people aren't going to have room for both. What are you talking about? I took both (Educated @ 4, Comp @ 6) and it's worth it so far. Found a Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor and it gave me a +4 barter, so that extra point helps. And that +20 to magazines really comes in handy during skill-checks.Dresden said:Yeah. I can confirm that the .dll made human fight encounters smoother than they were before but it doesn't completely removing any random stuttering or fps drops. YMMV.

Smokey said:how do you switch between the different ammo types without pausing the game? (360)
You'd still get three points per book even without Comprehension. Even if you find every manual, that's still only 51 extra points, and there's no way to distribute them either--more than half will go to skills you won't use. There's 4 books for each skill, for a total boost of 12 points; comprehension takes that to 16, with the exception of one skill, apparently. So, assuming you focus on five, six skills, you're only getting, with all the manuals found, a 20 point or so return for a perk.Reluctant-Hero said:Book location:
There is a Highway Patrol Station, just south of Primm, that has a book on Guns laying on one of the desks. With comprehension, you'll get +4 to Guns.
I think comprehension is an excellent perk. Getting +20 on skill magazines is awesome and super helpful to get you past lock/speech/science/repair challenges where you're severely lacking points.I wouldn't have been able to reprogram the droid into the Sheriff or get ED-E without comprehension!

I can neither confirm nor deny the bug being fixed, but just for clarification I'm sure that this is in regards to saves going forward. Your save from last night is most likely gone forever, and I don't think a patch will be able to bring it back. Now, if you just autosaved (remember, restart Steam first), then I suppose the problem still isn't resolved, which is most unfortunate.Beernf said:I don't see it fixed. It still thinks my last auto save was at the very beginning of the game, and my quicksave is 4 hours and 3 levels back from where it was last night. Worst shipped bug i have seen in a while.
